The Law needs to be changed. When a De Facto who brings nothing into the relationship and moves in to his partner's home that she alone owns and he inherits the bulk of her estate due to intestacy and her children get practically nothing then something is wrong.

I would really love to ask questions in a sticky situation my Dad passed 4 days ago and left a 30yr old will naming my mother as beneficiary of the entire estate despite being seperated for 20 years (still in friendly contact). My Dad's partner had threatened my Dad that if he doesn't buy her a house she is leaving him, and he is NOT going to be living there with her "her words". Dad has been living about 40mins away but has also tried to help her as she was dependent on him since she was 35 now 58.... Dad has solely supported her, but I have been living with him for the past year he visits her to help out and stays the night and soon she will "kick him out" she has also been claiming government assistance as a single person. The issue is kids have is Dad's estate has essentially been generational wealth. And she is leaving us out of the equation... We have had a estranged relationship with her - her aggression towards my mum vs versa meant she never accepted us.... Despite including her into family events and even birthdays weddings and all sorts she refused to come. She has used our Dad as a wallet and treated him poorly and it has broken our hearts over the year. We are scared she will contest Dad's will and claim defacto relationship.... Dad's wishes was that she keeps her $800,000 ^^ house and we inherited his other house. Now if she claims defacto she will get that house (fully paid off ) plus 30% of Dad's other house and 60% split 3 ways for a house of a similar price... Her son (no beef with him will technically be inheriting the entire house she was bought plus 30% of his estate... And us kids the people who cherriehed Dad to bits may be left with nothing. Dad would of been soooo f**ING furious over this. We are trying to deal with this amicably with her and include her in the funeral organisation - but now she has contested the claim over the body so we can't lay Dad to rest she wants no funeral for him.... She has also been going through his phone since he passed. We had to rightfully lock his accounts. Let's just say when my Dad kicked me out at 14 she threatened that if he did not give her the new car and put it in her name she would leave him as a bargain to allow me to live with Dad (in a house at the time across the road from her) ... We need help

Do Stepchildren have rights in Oklahoma if they were omitted from an Will? Example if Mother passed 10 years ago, and you are just now finding out you were left out due to Stepfather just passed? Do you have any rights to protest since the stepsons biological mother thought her son would be on will, and we she passed away it was changed? The Marriage was 20 years together... Finances were shared.. I am asking for an friend. Thank you.

If excluding a child, the parent should be required to hold a meeting with lawyers present at the time of making the Will. If not it should all be equally divided

Let me tell you what's annoying - my brothers don't want anything to do with my mums estate she left to all 3 of us... They both want to reject it. They don't want to take any part of it or any of her assets . - nothing. So, today the p/trustee just told me that since those 2 don't want anything - but I will get the estate - I have to pay the full transfer duty , which is about $14k ! I have been crushed. They don't want cash, the house isn't being sold, but I am taking it on because my brother who lives in the house needs to remain there .... so lost in this situation.
