When getting a bat tested, what temperature should the bat be? I have a bat that just barely failed the compression test, but it was sitting in my hot trunk. Should i get it retested at a cooler temperature, or would it being cold make it worse?
Great question @bjackz99 Compression testing for slow pitch softball bats usually takes place at room temperature, which is generally around 68-75°F (20-24°C). This range provides a stable and consistent environment for the materials in the bat, allowing for an accurate measure of the bat's performance characteristics. It's essential to test the bat at this temperature range to ensure that the results align with the conditions in which the bat is most likely to be used.
Keep it in the AC on the way to the field if you want it to test at a higher compression. It can help save your bat from failing if it’s borderline 🤷🏻♂️
