HI I'm Jay. I created this channel to demo guitar gear and share my experiences with all of you. I love learning, creating, playing and researching music gear. My hope is that I can display and share some cool gear and tones along the way. I am a total gear nerd looking to hang out with other gear nerds! Gear nerds welcome! I have the Friedman Pink Taco V2, the JEL 20w, and an EVH 5150 EL34 50w. I also have the Marshall SC20 that I run through a Fryette PS100. Was thinking of adding a JJ to my collection, but after watchimg this, I prefer the Marshall's sound. 🤔
Ho ! Nice channel i'm always tore between Orange and Mesa. Got a Mark V & Rocker 15 Terror. I'd like to "Orangize" my 1rst channel. Think it could do the trick.
I have the heritage g12m 20 watt and love it. The other day I picked up a pair of the g12m 25 watt with the modern logo. Chinese, I guess? They aren't nearly as nice, lol. I've also got an eminence gb128 . It's much nicer and closer to the heritage than the Chinese one .and it's cheaper. Fwiw
Great video. Now I am more undecided :). The Runt sounds brighter than the SB to me as well. The DS sounds great. Had the Mini DS. Might have to look at the Twin Sis.
I used to own the 800 studio and frankly, I believe that it may actually be the most versatile classic Marshall ever. Seriously, from shimmery Vox-y cleans, to late sixties plexi, all the way to full-on metal grind,it can do it all. Of course, one might need to help it out a bit for some of it. But all is really needed is a good, if fairly basic, overdrive pedal, a run-of-the-mill delay, an eq pedal, and you can achieve just about any genre of tone you're going for. Obviously, using this pedal arrangement with most amps would also get one closer to good usable tones, but the jcm800, with it's master volume, cold clipper, and in this case, an fx loop, has a lot to work with IMNSHO...😎
Nice comparison!!! I am going with the Teraform, less real estate lost on the board for one. Plus the Teraform sounds more open. They both sound great. The Wampler has that little extra sparkel.
You don't understand either amp's best setup, and used the worst sounding on both. Like a Plexi, that they are made to be like, the EQ shouldn't be all at noon. Not if you have the amp cranked into it's sweet spot, because the EQ starts adding gain, or detracting, depending on setting. Additionally, you had the Tilt on the Origin at equal part Normal, and High Channel (noon), but never jumpered the SV and kept the 2 channels volume at equal amounts for an apples to apples comparison.wA
Surprisingly, the standard production Chinese G12M-25 took this with ease. It’s my pick, and sounds closest to the original G12M’s in my ‘68 Marshall quad cab.
I have both. I think the Wampler sounds slightly richer (more analogue sounding) but I don't use it as I find the micro button for the presets absolutely infuriating. It doesn't always engage so it is easy to call up the wrong preset or muck up saving a preset… then having 7 presets but using only 4 LED to display them... its way too much for my brain man!
Hey man, not sure if you can help, I’m running two amps through a full bypass ABY pedal and on the A side I’ve got all my pedals and on the B side I only have a bass booster pedal. The thing thing is the booster pedal bumps lows and overall signal level by quite a bit while turning off the mids and the highs, and that would be also ok but it bleeds into the A side of things, so when I flick the bass boost on the B, it quiets and muffles down the side A. I know that the Orange ABY is buffered, do you think that would make the bass boost on the channel B not bleed over to the channel A? It costs too much for me to just buy and try it.
I love orange amps so much…that being said I owned a rockerverb 100 mk3 and I never connected with it. Nothing I did made the amp sound “good”. I may of had a lemon but when I had the rockerverb it DID NOT TAKE PEDALS WELL AT ALL! Including OD. The best settings I had that it stayed at pretty much the entire time I had it was treble at 3 o clock and bass at 4 o clock and scooped mids. I put brand new tubes in it and everything cause I started to get frustrated with it. Nothing “fixed” it. I’m looking at getting a OR100 as I was a huge fan when I had a OR15. And yes I ran everything through an orange cab. (Which is my favorite cab of them all, if an amp doesn’t sound good through it I sell it)
Damn that definitely sounds like a lemon. Lots of new amps have shipped with bad tubes in the past few years. It's almost impossible to find a bad sounding setting on my RV50mkIII. Handles pedals really well.
I have a "Rectoverb 50," and I love the monstrous tones of both channels, and each setting. But I find the vintage setting if the lead channel a bit easier on the ears. I just like that darker tone. But feel free to experiment with all the diverse sounds you can get out of it.
The SG to me “fills” my ears more and is generally a more satisfying sound, with the JM having a lighter sound that perhaps has a little more air and space and therefore has some subtle complexities. Completely subjective, yes, like comparing two equivalent wines. Just buy ‘em both.
The presets on the MD500 would have been overriding whatever the effect selection knob was set to. The LCD screen (which you can't make out on this video) would be showing the effect that's actually active. On the Terraform, the LEDs show the selected effect instead.
