I was there with my fiance. Great game - in the first half😅😅 When they asked Danny Ford who was the most prepared to play them, he responded "Wofford". LET THE BIG DOG EAT, YIP YIP!!
Was there. It's funny how small the paw was and cocked to the 10 o'clock position instead of what is now the traditional 1 oclock position back then. I was 11 and cared more about sliding on cardboard in the NW corner of the stadium. 😆
Memories, memories, from here in 2024. Who knew this team in the 80's would be the best Bear team into the 21st Century. Many bad team personnel decisions. But these guys were wonderful!!
Me…. Loved 🥰 those guys! Best memories were not just that the team was AWESOME but my home town (about 30 miles) from Chicago and everywhere I went was blue & orange decorations. Cast of characters 😊
A very young Jerry Seinfeld, LOL. Back when the Fridge was a bigger star! I'm not quite sure he realized what had hit him when Ditka decided to line him up as a running back or receiver. The thing was, Perry was a fine defensive lineman - very much worth the draft pick - and of course a Super Bowl champion. I'm saddened that Perry fell upon rough times in more recent years.
I was a whole 6 years old when Fridge made that giant block for Payton n scored the TD almost 40 years ago but the memory of it and me in my toy Chicago bears helmet and my lil brother (4 at the time) battling it out over the metal floor strip (TD line) of the kitchen n living room,, is vivid as any memory that old.. TY Refrigerator Perry, God Bless you n be with you.
Danny's former assistants landing in Baylor promptly got busted hard there for numerous violations. Interesting how it was never a problem in Clemson. Danny himself called it Clemson Tiger University.
You took out Mickey's touchdown catch, aka the only score in this game. Mickey lived the rest of his life known as 'the guy who caught the pass.' Great Lafayette, LA native and great family. RIP Mickey Mangum.
2:43 That sack by the great Steve "Berlin Wall" Berlin. Berlin was such a great player playing a pivotal role in every game he played for Clemson. And then again, another sack at 3:12. Berlin was on par to break Clemson's tackle record his Senior year before being sidelined in the 8th game with an injury. His average tackles per game was crazy. What a champion. He sure was missed when he graduated.
The loss to Georgia ruined the season. Had we beaten the Dawgs we would have gone 11-0. We were on probation for cheating and could not go to a bowl but could have won the AP National Title
This was awhile ago this interview.... Frank Howard was a legendary coach he's way more successful than Dabo and played them in key bowl games at a time when not many people went to bowl games and made Clemson a football power..
The greatest coach in history. May not go down as the most successful, but there will never be a a better steward of young men growing into great men than coach Swinney.
Perry was such a talented athlete. I think the man would have been a Hall of Fame player. Hear me out, before you dismiss me as insane. I'm NOT saying he should be in the Hall right now. But when you consider that the man played nine full seasons and was considered, even at the end of his career, one of the best run-stopping tackles in the NFL, despite not taking himself, or his weight, or his career, or his work ethic seriously, the question arises- what if he had taken himself and his career more seriously? What if he had a comparable worth ethic to, say, Dan Hampton or Singletary? What if he hadn't allowed the fame to get to his head? Change all of that, and i wager he plays at least 13 years and he would have been a Pro-Bowler several times. In turn, this likely puts him in the Hall. Again, I'm not saying he is a HoF player. But he had such potential. Still, as a Bears fan, it was an honor to watch him play along with all the others on that once in a lifetime team. Thank you. And thank you for posting this video. Brings back good memories.
I remember watching Steve Fuller play for the Bears back in the 80s and he could not run and he could not pass and he was finally replaced by Mike Tomczak. He may have been a college football legend but in the pros he was less than a mediocre quarterback.
