DeSoto was produced from 1928-1961! I grew up with a '50 DeSoto Custom (lighted hood-ornament also)! This was a GREAT CAR! My dad "replaced" it with a '65 Buick "Special" (IT WAS NOT) in Sept. '65! He kept the DeSoto (no trade-in value) for years! It OUTLIVED the '65 Buick!
How have you dealt with the solenoid and the relays on the Tip-Toe-Shift semi automatic trans? They are 6 volt units, but that looks like a 12 volt battery.
Virgil Exner reduced the wheel sizes from 15" to 14" so the cars would sit lower. The 14s look odd on such a big car, but it's still a nice example of a '60 Imperial.
This is the Airstream Desoto. The Airflow Desoto had the streamlined front end. Walter Chrysler didn't put all his eggs in one basdket. He offered everything in two style lines. Airflow bombed but the Airtream was a resounding success, even in the middle of the Depression.
