I was just randomly thinking of the time we did a performance to this song when I was in 6th grade. It was on our local news station for a segment. I always wondered who the singer was. 😊
Often, our first encounter with a song will become the best version ever (at least to us). I believe this is the case for me. I recalled, before having a vcr, I recorded the audio when it was on TV. I am glad to see it again now. Thank you.
I did a web search. I believe this to be the second verse that she sings: And still we can see As the years have gone by There's a dream in our land Like a flame that keeps burning And the lantern of hope From the harbor still shines Those who seek freedom's dream To its light are still turning Now we LOOK to the skies And we lift up our eyes For we know with the dawn We will see our Flag riiiiiise! And this - is our Star Spangled Banner unfurled As a sign to the free And a hope to - THE WORLD!! Oh SAY - does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave O'er the land of freeeeee And the HOME OF - THE - BRAVE! America! America! America! America! MY HOME! A-MER-I-CA!
I was in the drum section of the We The People 200 All American Band onstage that evening in Philly. She was pregnant at the time. Biggest goosebump moment of my life.
So sad that she was touring when her grandfather graduated to heaven. But this song and her testimony brings tears to my eyes that, oh yes, we shall behold Him! Our Savior and Lord!
Lyrics: Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saved someone like me I once was lost but now am found Twas blind but now I see Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come 'Tis grace that brought me safe thus far And grace will lead me home We've been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun We've no less days to sing God's praise Than when we first begun Amazing grace
As said of her 1986 performance celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, "a voice right out of the Heavens". Sandi's training and God's anointing have made her one of the best of our times. Love the longer version, also.
