I saw your video and relate to you having the same problem! I had surgery a week ago so I still have a long way to go! They put two titanium blades in my left metatarsal which they told me will never come off. you titanium blades did you remove them or not?
Thanks for sharing. I just injured my Lisfranc, still waiting for my mri, doc is pretty sure I’ll need surgery. Man it’s been an extremely painful injury. I now have an idea of what to expect.
I have a lisfranc fracture right now plus a another bone in my foot, just had surgery and I cannot explain how bad this feels, never experienced this kind a pain, I hope I will have a good recovery, but right now I feel so small and fragile.. never been this down In my life, but I try to think that god made this happend to show me I’m not invisible, and I need to be more careful (went a lot out and drank a lot) so I try to take it as a new chapter in my life😅
Thanks for sharing your story. I'm going to have my lisfranc surgery next week. Feeling scared and worried about future recovery. Take day by day to move on🙏
I have a Lisfranc and some metatarsal fractures with a similar accident like yours, and it was rough staying off the foot. At first, the ER Doc and Ortho doc forgot to tell me to be totally non-weightbearing and I had no experience, so I sometimes lightly rested my heel on the floor while standing with crutches but then my swelling worsened. I don't know whether I will be able to walk or resume exercise the way I used to.
Thank you Katherine this was truly reassuring! I’m on day 3 post-op from the same exact injury as you. Did you ever have like tenderness in calf (same leg) on day 2 or 3 ?
Thanks for sharing! I had my car accident 2/9/2024 while being 3 weeks postpartum and surgery on 2/29/2024. I’ve gone from a splint to a hard and I am absolutely loosing my mind I haven’t been able to move my foot in two months with a newborn so hearing your story gives me hope❤. Hopefully next week I can get placed in a walking boot and start the process of walking. I joke all the time and say my son and I will learn how to walk at the same time lol😂
Hi im watching this video 3 weeks after my lisfranc injury. Its crazy to me how a simple accident (I missed a step too) is having such a huge impact on my quality of life. Im not really able to move around yet but my orthopaedic dr is doing his best to avoid surgery as of now because I cant afford to take time off for the recovery. Im lucky the ER doctors caught it as soon as i met them. Thank you for sharing your story 😢
Aw sorry to hear this - its hard but when I had my surgery I was just grateful to finally have a solution and know that things were eventually going to get better - it does get hard but I try not to forget that. I am not sure what type of lisfrabc surgery you’re having, I had a button suture tightrope fixation - I’m currently 3 and a half months after my operation right now. I came off crutches a couple of weeks ago but still have a long boot to wear. I’ve only just gone back to work this week as my work means I’ll be on my feet all day. I was only able to drive a couple of weeks ago too. It is long, but keeping myself busy with lots of hobbies helped me! I took up painting and tried to learn a new language. I tried to get outside every day too. All the best :)
Is 8months too long to get infusion surgery with likelihood of benefits? Considering the 6-12 month recovery and return to sport. What’s your experience with waiting it out and continuing your sport with lisfranc? Which I have been doing during this time ❤ thank you for sharing your story
This was so helpful. I injured my foot 3 weeks ago, have seen 3 doctors and none of them will order an MRI for me! I have all the signs of a Lisfranc injury -- either a ligament tear or a fracture. How do I get a definitive diagnosis??? Is that through an MRI? I am seeing one more dr. tomorrow and if he will not order one I found a radiology clinic that will do one, self-pay, for people who are underinsured. I am NOT underinsured, but might as well be since the dr won't order it! I will have to pay more than I would with my insurance, but I want to know exactly what is wrong with my foot and get a proper treatment plan. Is MRI the best diagnostic tool for a Lisfranc injury? I am so fed up with doctors and our health care system. Katherine, I hope you are doing better now and fully recovered -- thank you again!
I actually was told I fractured my 2 one and had a torn ligament they put me in a non weight boot. During the next days I was in full blown pain. Waking up with horrible Charlie horses so bad they took hours to release. Than when I took the boot off to shower or sleep my foot was in pain I felt like my ankle was gonna snap body was sweating so bad I felt like I was going to faint. I call doctor and get told take aspirin. Put my foot up we will check it in a month. I can walk but I limp still have a black spot under my foot. No MRI was ordered so it’s been a month and go to doctors today. Mind you I have been out of work for a month. I tried walking with a lite shoe and my top part of foot can not take weight and I hear a popping noise my toes won’t move and no feeling in them. I kept sending doctors office texts telling them and all I get is doctor doesn’t have any opens you can go to urgent care if you can’t wait till doctors appointment. It’s not like I want to be outta work for nothing it feels like I have waited 6 weeks for nothing. I need my foot because my job requires me to be on them and I can’t afford to go back to work and go out again because the limping is so bad. Any ideas on how to make your doctor take it more seriously or are they stuck because insurance doesn’t want to pay
Omg I have to tell you my story!! I also work in the hospital and have all of the same fears about surgery! I fell the exact same way!! ONE STEP!! The only difference, on top of the lisfranc fracture, is that I also broke my ankle in 3 places AND sissies my other ankle 😮. Injury 12/1/23, surgery (6 hours!) was 12/13/23... I will never take the simple things in life for granted ever again!! Just to be able to go outside, to walk, to drive, to go to work, to shower on my own, to make a meal, etc etc etc. I do look forward to recovering!! Toughest thing I have ever endured! Thank you so much for sharing your story! WE'VE GOT THIS! 💪❤️
wud u mind posting ur current foot status, i got surgery on 11 nov 2023,after 7wks now im barely able to walk with pain, hows urs guys pls share ur current foot condition, hope u understand my situation
I just had surgery, today it’s 6 days after I had surgery and partial of my toes are numb and I do see they are swollen. Is this normal? Doctor told me I can loosen my wraps a bit. They told me it is normal having some tingling and numbing cause of the plate that was put in but I’m freaking out cause I’m literally poking at parts of my toes and it’s numb and some parts burns at touch.
Wow, I am going to be the 100th comment! I am so relating to your story. I am 4 1/2 weeks out. First X-rays were non-weight bearing, showing Lisfranc injury, yet no fractures. Am now going to get a weight-bearing X-rays and an MRI.
Wow I have a similar story… I walked around on my foot for a month because I was told by urgent care it was sprained. Took a month to get in for my mri but I’m so glad I did
I have surgery in 4 hours and I'm terrified. I got a Lisfranc injury from playing volleyball and im currently in my junior year. I played three games and then my season was over. I got injured in practice on Labor Day so its been a month ever since. I just hope that by august of next year ill be back to the way I played before the injury.
Finally sb with the same process as me. sis similar thing happened to me, my tablet fell on my foot and it was blindingly painful, Same injury, but less severe, doc told me you don't need surgery and I'm hopeful that I won't, but still so much pain and a cast for 1 month and 1 month of physiotherapy 😢 this is day four and I'm already going insane.
This gives me peace of mind. I have surgery next week and was worried about recovery because I have my wedding at the end of December. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your recovery story!
I fractured my lisfranc. I’m in a splint. I see the podiatrist again in a few days. My doctor isn’t ruling out surgery, but he said the injury isn’t horrible. I have to stay off my foot. My podiatrist is a great doctor.
Thank you for sharing! Fractured my 2nd, 3rd & 4th metatarsals on 2/19/23. I got surgery 3/22/23. I was in a splint & nonweight bearing. I was so distraught as a fast walking on the go new yorker. I got a book week 6. I was able to start walking in my boot week 9. The boot is so painful and my doctor did advise I can wear sneakers. I’m finishing week 9 and will be starting my sneakers and ankle brace. Thank you so much for sharing.
@@OGCJ10 I didn’t use my crutches for long. I actually used a knee scooter whenever I needed to get around. I was without the knee scooter from week 9 so early May when I transitioned to a boot. Then I used a cane for about 4 weeks now I’m slowly getting back to normal. I hope this helps 🫶🏾
Thank you for sharing your journey! Today marks 3 months since my surgery to repair a torn Lisfranc and fractured metatarsal. I remember watching your video early on after my surgery and feeling like I would never get to this point.
Hey i too got injured in june this year. It's almost 2 months since my surgery. Just want to know how much improvement can i see by the 3rd month!!! And then following after.
Thank you so much for your story and also all the positive comments below! This is such a scary experience to go through. It really makes you realize how fragile and intricate our bodies are. It also makes you appreciate things we take for granted daily. I have a severe Lisfranc Injury along with some broken metatarsals on January 11th and had my surgery on January 14th. I have 5 screws, plates and a pin. I had my stitches and splint removed 2 weeks after surgery. On February 23rd I had my pin removed and cast in hopes of getting put into a Walking boot but unfortunately due to the position my foot was in the cast my Achilles is stuck and I am unable to flex my foot or move my ankle to get into the walking boot. I am waiting to start Physical Therapy in 2 days in hopes to help get into the walking boot so I can gain mobility back and won’t have to have a secondary surgery to fix my Achilles that is stuck. I’m praying that I will not have to do that🙏🏾. This process has been very hard, painful and depressing! If it was not for my husband helping me and being there for me every step of the way I would not know what to do. Thanks again for posting your story and providing all of us going through this some hope and light at the end of the tunnel.
I had surgery 2 weeks ago. I damaged my lisfranc and then I dislocated and my surgeon had to do a bonegraft too. I start physiotherapy next week. I have another 4 weeks non weight bearing then an xray and then surgery at 12 weeks again to remove the plate that was put in. Its not easy, I can now stand straight and put even weight on both feet.
I had my surgery a week ago some toes are numb my foot feels disconnected from my body just had the cast removed today, how was your process leading up to now? My dr told me no more medicine and that I have to feel the pain😮 did your surgeon tell u the same?
It’s a great thing to read your story and have more hope for myself. I have four weeks since the injury and five days since the surgery. I managed to fracture all five metatarsal bones and the ligament. The orthopaedic surgeon said, I could not have done it any worse. After listening to your story and reading other people’s comments, I know I am not alone and gives me more hope to go through this. Yes, I was down and really depressed. I got the injury the night before my daughter’s wedding. Thats when I realized how much we take for granted in life. Like being able to walk. I don’t know what I would do without my husband, but I hope everyone can have as much support and hope as I have. Speedy recovery.
I find myself in your spot right now with 2 weeks post injury. Since yours has been now one year ago. I wonder how your recovery went and how you're doing today. Hope you're doing fine Regards from Germany
Hi! This is Eva. I am a 16 yrs old who has a lisfranc sprain. I torn it during basketball game... I’m still waiting for my surgery date to come ( I am very very scared...) I honestly don’t know what they are going to do but after hearing your story it gave me a picture of what’s going to be like! I really appreciate that! Just one question, does the screw and plate have to come out? Because I really don’t want to have an second operation... 😅
Hey Eva! I’m so sorry to hear that 💜. I hope you have been able to get your surgery and are your road to recovery! Surgery can definitely be a mental game. You do not need to get the screws out, but if you are experiencing pain from them, you may want to consider it .
Hey Katherine, Had my cast remove today after 4 weeks so back to the boot. But it hurt so much to walk especially on the heel. Did you experience this? it hurt so much that I am assisting my walk with crutches
Wonderful job!! You are inspiring as I sit here 12 days post-op from LisFranc (with displaced and fx metatarsals). Your story helped as so few women speak out, I'm a nurse and mine happened early am barefooted going down wooden steps (missed 4 but who's counting, right?). I don't know if you have been shocked to see what's on RU-vid: PT channels encouraging post-op, non weight bearing foot surgery patients to do leg exercises..from the floor and standing position..and people commenting how great! You are honest, earnest and speaking from your actual experience..I will follow your recovery!
Just got surgery around 2 weeks ago, and just tonight I almost fell and I had to put my foot down.. i went full force like if i stomped on it. it's a little painful, but you think I should get it checked out? I'm worried.
I tore my lisfranc in July 2020 and same thing, the radiologist missed the tear and apparently it’s only something a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon would catch because I was told I had a sprain. Fast forward a month and I’m still not better at all (actually worse) I finally called and got an appt with a orthopedic surgeon who wanted to do the surgery 2 days later. I’m a small business owner and had to wait a week to get my affairs in order. Had the surgery the next week, three plates and 12 screws miserable 6 weeks of non weight bearing. Had I saw a surgeon immediately I may have been just non Weight bearing without surgery but I guess I’ll never know. I’ll say without hesitation don’t try and be a hero and go with Tylenol and Advil. I don’t know what I would have done without the Percocet. I had a generous old school surgeon who didn’t mind prescribing it to me as long as he was legally allowed to. I never abused or became addicted to it,when I was done I quit taking it. I feel bad for anyone who has a surgeon who is anti narcotic pain pills after the first week. 95% of people never use them again. I love your story, but I would say don’t be a hero because ibuprofen 800 or Naproxen 500 just doesn’t cut it. 2+ years later I can do most everything, but I still get days where it’s sore, and some days it’s really good. Now when it gets sore ibuprofen is all I need. Just don’t ever expect it to be the way it was before you hurt it. If a person is a professional athlete it normally ends their career. Terrible injury, and I’m really glad to hear you used an orthopedic surgeon because an podiatrist would have F’d it up and you’d be screwed for life. The surgeon actually said to me that podiatrist’s are for treating bunions, prescribing rip off orthotics, and treating athletes foot. LOL,seemed harsh that a Dr. Would say that about another Dr because they usually stick together like cops do. I see this video is a year old,and I hope you are doing well?
So so similar to my story too. Thanks for sharing. I was pressure washing around my pool… and then I stepped back carelessly and fell into the shallow end with my foot hitting the steps 😢.
What ever happened to your lisfranc injury? I left a comment on your video about it. I’m two weeks post op from a broken ankle and broken top of foot. (Lisfranc). I’m in a lot of pain!
Hey! I just read your comment on my video and I am so sorry to hear what happened to you!!! Damnnnn! Anyways, I am doing overall a lot better, not 100% perfect, more 80% better. I am planning to do an update video since I have recently gotten into lifting and talk about my overall recovery. It’s such a long journey, so try hard to take everything day by day. That sounds really really tough. You are in my prayers!
Would u recommend doing the surguery or try doing it the conservative way ? I just got mine n they told me I need surguery but I wondering if I can go natural.
Thank you for the video hope you are doing better. I tripped over the cat June 2 2022 er said bad sprain but that was not the case had my surgery June 22, 2022 recovery has been so stressful for me I'm not someone that just sets around.
