Hi, my name is Suzanne Bryan and I am a TKGA (The Knitting Guild Association) certified Master Hand Knitter. I enjoy finessing my knitting and helping others do the same.
This channel focuses on my Live-Stream video chats. You can join in at any time and participate in the conversation. I also have another RU-vid channel - Knitting with Suzanne Bryan, that focuses on short to the point knitting video tutorials.
Welcome to my channel and I hope you choose to subscribe.
I've purchased the 4-ply Merino (fingering) from White Gum Wool and i can verify how utterly magnificent it is. I purchased 2 skeins of 'natural' in 2020, and 2 skeins of 'Hawthorn' (red) in Sept 2024!
Just found this today and had to say how absolutely delightful it was to listen to Nathan and see his glorious knit creations. I’ve followed you Suzanne since I picked up my needles again and have found your channel so useful in developing my techniques so thank you to both of you.
Oh my goodness, I’ve only just found your second channel whilst searching for waist-shaping (as I’m a curvy gal 😉🤣). So excited to learn more from your extensive knowledge!
Here's something to blow your minds, speaking of that Queenieknits Kitchener's stitch method you mentioned for different stitch patterns. To go through knitwise or purlwise: The first stitch matches itself, the second stitch does the opposite of itself, and that's all. That second stitch never gets a chance to match itself in the sequence, no matter the stitch pattern. No need to think about same or different, but still good to know it as a principle.
Good Afternoon Suzanne, This is Emily's mom from the Panera group, and you have been such an inspiration to her. She admires you soo much. She spends day and night knitting. You have been so generous and kind to her and I want to say how much it is appreciated by my husband and I. She's an old soul and the ladies you taught have given her a lot of their time and attention. She's only twenty-two and she loves knitting. Thank You for these Channels and Classes you offer. I hope more people find you and explore their artistic side. Rachele Allmon
I know this is years ago and I do so wish you could have edited out your tech struggles, but when I finally got to Ann, I found joy. I have knit for decades and used Ann's books. I have loaned and lost both of my best books, complete with my notes! Time to suck it up and buy another one, but the notes on my sons first cardigans I can still see in my minds eye.
Wow thank you for demonstrating what happens when you raise your arms. I am following your custom ITAG yoke tutorial, but looked at Zweig for inspiration. Since I noticed the Zweig has increases after the shoulder points, and also has a deep yoke (at least for my arm depth measurement), I have been wondering whether you followed the Zweig pattern to the letter or made modifications. I may use the color motifs and short row back neck shaping from Zweig, but come up with a different scheme of making increases based on your tutorial. I'm so glad I caught this. P.S. I like the color work you incorporated into the sleeve cuffs. Is it a 2 by 2 rib or just the same striped motif used at the bottom of the yoke? Thanks for your great videos.
Wow, Im really lucky because my stranded knitting isnt lumpy and bumpy. Maybe its not just luck, I worked to vet the strands the right tension right when I was first learning stranded knitting. I thought Id comment about that just so the info is out there; it can be done! The way I hold and tension my yarn is unlike anything Ive seen on you tube so that would be a good thing to make a tutorial on now thst I realise its not something most people know how to do.
Amazing I am looking for to getting started on the Professional Hand Knitting Two Brilliant Lovely Ladies I don't know if Arenda will Compliment my knits but I can't to be a part of all of this Sending Love Marianne Knapp Easton Pa 💓🌸🌷
Very helpful video. I found the idea of garment charts so helpful as I frequently change the neckline on knitting patterns. I use Word or Excel to chart rows and stitches.
Older video but finally an answer to a question I asked about how much allowance under the arm , no one had an answer besides telling me to follow pattern which felt like the raglan increases were going on too long , soooo thank you , the weight of the garment will bring arm hole down if I use exact measurement
🌴☀️Dear Mrs. Bryan🌿🌸🌿thank you for this generous interview of which I’m watching 3 years later, I am surprisingly mistaken as to think I’ve seen majority of your content, this was a delight!!!! My favorite part was the decrease witchcraft (teehehe) absolutely brilliant 😮. I’ve knit many hundreds of accessory/garments (baby clothing, socks, tops, hats) since I began knitting about 6 years or so ago, your platform has been my knitting bible in human form & I am so grateful to you for the priceless knowledge you’ve uploaded into my needlecraft. You Mrs. Bryan…are a diamond in the ruff. And yes yes yes I know you aren’t inventing things necessarily BUT…you made a conscious decision to “share” and to “teach” and to “do it on RU-vid” and that me dear is a gift you have been given and a blessing to the masses. I honor you beloved. 💗🌸 much gratitude☀️🌴
Great video. Thank you so much. I am watching this series with June Hemmons Hiatt 2 years and a half after it went live and it just so happens that I am seriously considering enrolling in the tkga Master Hand knitter Certificate program and I think June's book will definitely be a great resource. All the information shared here was so helpful. Getting the book :)
I just took Gayle's class at Vogue Knitting Live NYC 2023, she was an excellent teacher, she is so knowledgeable, in addition to explaining how to use a Japanese knitting pattern, she had some interesting explanations about the origins of the Japanese characters used for knitting.
This was such a treat! I was working on my knitting homework for Suzanne's class, and I came upon this as my background noise. But I had to put down my homework and pay attention! Great comments from both Roxanne and Suzanne. Both are favorites of mine. Thank you for posting your interview and conversation with Roxanne. I learned a lot!
Suzanne, as always, you have taken a complex subject and broken it down in terms that we can easily understand. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Hi Suzanne, I can't believe I missed this video all these years I've been following you! As a Japanese knitter, It was very interesting listening to how you and Gayle interpret the whole concept of the Japanese knitting.
I love your channels! Love you! I'm a Californian now living in exile in Central New York. I lived through many shakers! Get yourself some beautiful wind chimes and put them in a corner where they get no breeze. If the pendulum is moving, that's a sign so long as you don't have a cat swatting at it. During the 1994 quake in LA, my chimes were singing loud and clear and many other times, there might have been a little noise or movement out of them, but they served some sense of well being. If they were upset, it might mean that I had to look for a better place to stay during the shaking.
Thank you for this wonderful interview. Such a depth of knowledge, experience and creativity. I'm overwhelmed by her. Suzanne, your interviews are a pleasure.
Fantastic job by both of you. You are both excellent knitters and teachers and lovely people. I have learnt a lot, which I don't know why that is important but it enjoyed your interaction. Thank you for you time.
