I want to know only one thing that no one to my knowledge has ever mentioned before: If GE had never dumped a single drop of PBBs into the Housatonic River , would that mean that this river today would be clean? And if not clean how much better would it really be?

Our 3 face to face encounters occurred while I was growing up in Connecticut, just south of Berkshire County, Mass. We had started camping in a large tract of protected Watershed property near our home, doing the typical things for camping like gathering firewood and hitting them against trees to break them into smaller pieces. I believe this action is what brought these things in close to us. We had numerous incidents at our campfire there such as rock throwing, urination on our tent, upside down trees, etc. During this time period, my sister was washing dishes in the kitchen, and one of them appeared in the window. She screamed and we all came running, but it had left. My Father, 82nd Airborne Paratrooper, thinking it was a neighborhood prank, set a trap by leaving a garden hose turned on & placed by the kitchen door in case the 'pranksters' returned. It did return a few days later, and again my sister screamed. This time my Dad ran outside and sprayed the Bigfoot with the hose. This caused it to lunge at him & then went back in the woods. When he came back in the house, he said "Whatever that was it was big and definitely not a prank". After this, he bought a rifle for the house and kept it by the kitchen door that Summer, even showing me where he kept the box of ammo. During this same time period, our house was punched at night breaking the vinyl siding, and my Mother the Peacemaker started leaving fruit and vegetables on a stump near the woods on our property. This resulted in small piles of stones or gifts being left in the yard and also by the kitchen door. Again, this was not in Colorado, or Alaska, but in Connecticut, not far from the Berkshire Mountains.
This is a great video that I will show students. The one concern I have is the use of radioactivity and biohazard symbols- those have specific meanings that aren't the problem here. But the rest of the video is fantastic
I would like the team too investigate Western, MA A LOT more. Specifically, the Berkshires and October Mountain State Forest and the Mt. Greylock region. I truly believe it warrants a more thorough expedition/search into the heavy forest and mountainous areas. Reason i say this is because their are PLENTY of sightings of Sasquatch in these areas from over the years. This area of MA is extremely ideal for either a small resident population of Sasquatch or those that are migrating from one area too another. And in some parts it's so densely forested they could remain hidden VERY easily. From Lee, MA up too Adams, MA and all along that corridor is HEAVILY forested. I used too live in that region specifically Lee, MA and while i never had any sightings or encounters. I know PLENTY of folks who have. Particularly hikers in the October Mountain State Forest and Mt. Greylock areas. Please look into investigating these areas more thoroughly. Thanks.
You are missing lots of information! Target was not an original anchor of The Berkshire Mall! It was a originally the Hills Discount store, which went bankrupt, and was acquired by Ames in December 1998 (This was slightly more than 2 months after I turned 12 years old, and I remember going to Hills with my parents when I was a little kid!) Ames filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy was defunct on September 6, 2002! Also Best Buy is not an original Berkshire Mall anchor either! It was preceded by Service Merchandise which went bankrupt in the summer of 2001, then failed to pull itself out of bankruptcy, and had to cease it's operations, and shutter all of its remaining stores by early 2002!
Thanks for the correction! My intention with the "listing" of major stores was more to communicate that big name retailers were found at the mall-- not so much imply that each one was there from the get go (though I understand the phrasing could have been better as to communicate such). Fascinating about Hills Discount Store and Service Merchandise though! I've never heard of them, nor do I recall ever even stumbling across their names when researching this video. Amazing that even as far back as the late 90s there were warning signs that malls were on a decline!
Hi guys! Nice job with the edits and stills during narration; no excessive talking heads. A tunnel boring machine? beware of promises by an Elon. Some fun facts: Local business wanted to break the monopoly the B&A had; The Commonwealth of MA (the much hated "big gumment") took over later and finished the job more quickly.
Such a shame to have blown up and mountain, destroyed so much animal habitat, and raw beauty of a natural environment, when these stores could have easily found homes in any number of empty & abandoned sites.
Wow! I had no idea that they destroyed so much of mother nature to build a generic shopping mall. Information like that is why I love having conversations with old timers!
@@GodSonBlessed It was horrible. A lot of us in Lanesboro fought against it because of that and because we could see that it might not be as viable long-term in a remote location (I think we were partially right). I remember after they started clearing the land for construction (in a wetland, would never fly today), homeless bears started showing up in nearby neighborhoods and some had to be removed or killed because of threats to property and life. Such a shame and such a waste. Pittsfield would have been a better home for all those stores, but the Lanesboro gov't got seduced by the $$$
I'm going out there soon now are you 9n the Lee end or Lennox side and Bigfoot I hear is near. Make some vids for 2022 updates please.love your vid. I see the fall is a better option too many bugs.
