Is there a way to have multiple looks in the same presentation? Like say, a parent company managing multiple smaller companies that need to convey similar info, but in their individual brand styles. Would you do this through this through themes - adding all to your themes to the ribbon, selecting as needed? Or multiple parent slides? not sure the best way to go about things. Thanks!

I want to see the name of each slide layout in Master Slides and Googling suggests 'hovering' the mouse over the slide but that doesn't seem to work - I'm sure that when I used Powerpoint the last time, names appeared beneath each slide layout? Any help gratefully received.

By chance, are you using an Apple Mac? Across the board on many PowerPoint features, Mouse HOVERING in Windows will have popup info but the Mac does not. If you are on the Mac, I can look for an alternative, but I am travelling for work today and don't have access to my desktop Mac.

@@PowerUpTraining Thanks Les and, yes, Mac running Sonoma 14.5. Hovering not working in Mac OS platform - not so much of a surprise. Of course it's available under the Insert>New Slide gallery but it'd be nice to see it in Master Slides. So the layout names have never appeared under the slides?

As far as I know, the hover feature has never been available on the Mac . . . I suspect that is a Apple interface "vocabulary" rule. The only cheat method, which is ugly, is when in the SLIDE MASTER view, right click the layout and select RENAME . . . don't rename it but you will see the name.

@doughcreekcompany1040, you are spot on. SmartArt is 90% the same between Excel and PowerPoint. But not identical, I hint at this in my intro but you are correct. There is no CONVERT TO SMARTART in Excel. Two things. I made this tutorial 3 years ago and now realize how improved my recent tutorials are. This is an embarrassment. After your comment, I am committing to redoing ALL my Excel and Word SmartArt tutorials over the next 60 days. Secondly, in the mean time, you could possibly copy your data over to PowerPoint and use the "CONVERT TO SMARTART" there and then bring the results back to Excel. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention!

Just as I encourage my viewers to improve their skills, I too have taken this to heart. Over the last 18 months I have worked hard to improve my production values (audio, lighting, camera work, video editing) and my tutorial annotations and really trying hard to be more succinct (shorter videos) with out sacrificing my niche of digging deep into topics. Each long form video takes me about 8 days, but I am actually jazzed about revising SmartArt for Excel (and I will also improve the Word versions) and making them all standalone. Thanks for getting me to refocus on this cool tool.

Hellow! I am a teacher who works through a MacBook Air computer. While presenting to my classes I regularly have multiple desktops open via the computer's Mission Control feature and bounce back and forth to reference different things I've set up on these desktops (spaces). Does the Spotlight have the ability to program the mission control app to open in order to show all the desktops I have work on, in order to choose which of those desktops I happen to want to show? Thanks for the help!
@PowerUpTraining
@PowerUpTraining 27 дней назад
Short answer: YES. Longer answer requires several "programing" of the Logitech buttons. Use the "Logitech Presentation" software that must be installed on your Mac and change TWO things. 1) change the "HOLD BACK BUTTON" to bottom "custom keystroke" where you will then hold down the Mac CONTROL KEY and press the UP ARROW. Next hit enter and it will be programed. CONTROL & UP arrow will bring up Mission Control. Now when you hold down the BACK button it will pop up MISSION CONTROL. (A single tap of that button will still go back a slide). 2) Next, make sure the POINTER setting needs to be on "HIGHLIGHT." Then you should be good to go. Now. 1) HOLD down the small back button, and MISSION CONTROL appears. 2) Next, holding down the the top small button, a "spotlight" will appear and keep holding it down when you WAVE the remote around. You will be able to highlight the window. Let go of the small spotlight button and click once to bring that window forward. Let me know if this works.

@tinahunt7008, did you perform these steps more than once? No matter what, do it again but this time create a new subfolder and select that folder. Then when it saves the slides, they will all be in that new folder, as just one set of individual slide files.
@tinahunt7008
@tinahunt7008 22 дня назад
@@PowerUpTraining I did create new subfolders. The issue is when the slides are placed on a usb drive. This is fine except if I want to display on a tv. Tina, we are now getting into the quirky world of TVs trying to handle multimedia. Maybe a different approach. Instead of individual files, turn them into a single long "movie" by going to the FILE menu and EXPORT. Then you will have complete control of the order. Take a look at the end of this tutorial on making photo slide shows as it touches into the movie making feature in the last two minutes. I continue to think about the situation. And have some convoluted way to turn on Windows Accessibility feature of "COLOR FILTERS" and the selection of a color combo. This will let you alter how PowerPoint PRESENTER looks but the downside is that it will also alter the color scheme of your PowerPoint presentation. Should this be an option (not all companies will let you alter the facility's computer), you could then design a presentation color scheme to work when COLOR FILTERS is enabled. Reach out to me if this is of interest.

@karenerichards9351, before you start Zoom, do you already have the PowerPoint Left and Right monitor working they way you want? Thanks for noticing. I continue experimenting with expanding how to educate standard software video instruction with visuals, audio, and storyline. The journey of learning “filmmaking” has been long. I start by creating an outline “script” to storyboard what I am trying to teach. Then, I record the video walkthrough with the screen capture software of CAMTASIA. Next, the speaking script is written to match the recorded computer screen video. Noting in the written script where to be looking to reference different parts of the monitor screen to simulate that I am recording the video and screen capture at the same time (which I am not doing). Practice, practice, and then on to headshot video shooting. My spare bedroom studio has several background color LED lights projected to a gray backdrop. And then, for video recording, I use three networked Panasonic Lumix BGH1 box cameras each with a different focal length. Plus a separate microphone, just out of view Turn the cameras on and record. Next, the three recorded video files will be edited in multicam mode in DaVINCI RESOLVE using iZOTOPE RX10 audio tool cleanup. Take the audio and video headshot video back into the screen recorded CAMTASIA and finish up adding the screen zoom, text overlays, pointers and more. All using CAMTASIA. All in all, it is a considerable time commitment. However, I enjoy the process of making my mini-films for others to learn from.

@catmanbluz, troubleshooting over RU-vid is hard. But I am 85% sure I know what happened. If you did get the video for Ocean, then it is working correctly. The key is to start with a BLANK presentation. If you rewrite the title after getting a video, then it will not work the second time on the same presentation. Open a new Blank Presentation. I just tried dog, man, cat and numbers. All worked. However, the suggestion for GIRL and WOMAN (or even WOMEN) were lame and not relevant.

@@PowerUpTraining But I find a few things missing - 1. The e-learning content needs essentially a quiz. 2. Animations and transitions cannot be just a drag & drop thing. 3. Timeline manipulation is quirky. 4. On grouping and sections, aninations can't be applied. 5. Interactivity with hyperlinks and buttons needs a load of knowledge. 6. Applying arrows & cursor effects, highlighting parts of image and cropping & trimming media , audio effects is a great task. Storing them for future use in a library, a placeholder, chroma effect are still things Microsoft has to look into. Imagine the days without the morph transition. Oh! Even a novice like a school pupil can make a quick decent presentation in Camtasia, I believe. Rest, you're an expert. 👍

Hoping you have some tips on tricks to use videos or animated gifs as backgrounds. I attempted it in one presentation and it ALMOST worked.

@FlintOlsen, Interesting request. Currently working on three other new videos, but I'll start thinking on how best to achieve these results.

@FlintOlsen, That video is now live and I gave you credit for asking the question. Thanks for the suggestion. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K93vd5v78Ts.html

@gpiske01, this tutorial took me a but longer to build as I too had to make sense of the crazy tool. Not always obvious. Thanks for the feedback.

Zoom is such a "clever" and USELESS description of a very cool tool. @rajsuthar999 , I am glad that I could be of help to explain it to you.

Maybe I am sensing bit of harmless ridiculing but be it a Sir Attenborough comparison, I will gladly take it.

transition sounds work in slideshow but not in videos after export. can you help please.

I did some poking around and can confirm that the transition sounds are lost, even if you export "with narration." You may want to look for a "screen recorder" tool (not Microsoft) that you start before running the slide show." Many will capture the screen and the audio. Do a search of "what are some free windows screen recorder tools"

As long as it does not grow too big, this works great.

I have a 3 screen set up, and I want to have my desktop on 1, and the notes and presentation on either 2 or 3 (doesn't matter which). When I do this setup in the video though, the presentation notes always come up on monitor 1 (unless I have forced my presentation to be on 1, in which case the notes come up on 2). Help!?

You are a saint! It is shocking PowerPoint does not have a skew/distortion/perspective crop tool yet. It is the only step in my workflow (teaching architecture history to multiple grade levels) that takes me outside of PowerPoint. I will be using this workaround, as Photoshop can still take longer/creates unnecessary files on my laptop.

It is a shame that Microsoft has not done this yet. However, after almost a decade, I now see Microsoft adding some new features; but will they just focus are clever new tricks or fix a major deficiency as photo editing? Thanks for commenting!
