Trusted way to help the people of Ukraine and make the world a better place: franciscanrelieffund.org/
Franciscan Monks take a vow of poverty and hence own nothing. They are beggars, but not for themselves, for humanity. I can confirm that the money you donate here is not a waste but goes to humanitarian aid to help the people of Ukraine.

First you put BRICS currency on a pedestal and then you throw stones at it. Atleast in india we have a clarity that there is no brics currency and there wont be any in the future . But that does not mean we want to keep using dollars for all our trades. Bilateral Currency swap is working but brilliantly ut only works with relatively stable currencies . It saves us 5-10 % commision american banks charge which is basically a tariff on world trade. And since we managed to get currency swap with some countries, it made many of our exports and imports viable. Boosting bilateral trade.
Having high standards of living does not mean you are on the rise. Imperial China had much higher standards of living compared to the British in the 1700s ... But look what happened in the 1800s. Many such examples. I don't think an economist is actually qualified to address this because history more than just economy and certainly more than a simple measure of living standards - is it even possible to be more reductionist here? I cannot see how.
With its heedless expansion, the BRICS Grouping is galloping towards its own destruction. The Group has started as nations with growing economies. Since then, BRICS has morphed from an economic to a political grouping. How do you justify inclusion of Egypt, Iran, and Ethiopia; why not Afghanistan, Somalia, or Namibia? Now Turkey, Erdogan is forever a spoiler. Bharat, with Brazil and UAE, will have fight to see that the BRICS does not become overtly anti-Western. With possible admission of countries like Pakistan, the member nations will devolve into bickering groupings with no common agenda. It will be a requiem to the BRICS.
Hey, does anyone here remember which of Mark's videos discussed Rand Paul's lack of understanding of monetary policy? I really want to send it to a friend of mine who supports Ukraine but is also a Rand Paul fan.
The west has. especially the UK and the US, has always strove- and succeeded to made the world a better place. Just look at Africa. Used to be a really bad place. Thanks to the UK and the US, Africa is now a really good place. Libya, same thing, was bad, now it's really good. So now the west can do the same thing with Russia.
What a bunch on hocus pocus nonsense. Wishful thinking gets you nowhere. You know how Hitler was "dishonoured"? By tens of millions of people dying and nations like the US going to 40% of GDP spent on the military. And Zelenskyy is not a fly-below-the-radar kinda guy. He was an entertainer for most of his life. He wrote a screen play for a TV show where he was the star and the star was an accidental president. The man loves being in front of the camera, or on a stage, and loves the attention and there's nothing wrong with that. He also decided to bypass elections this last time around. I do support him, but I think it was a mistake not holding elections.
USA IS NOT A DEMOCRACY TO SOUTH AMERICA OR AFRICA IT IS CORPORATE POWER THAT RUNS THE WEST...WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT A NONEVENT.....RUSSIA IS NOT IN DECLINE....
India has a long history of lying about their intentions. Canada sold to India in the 1960's a Candu nuclear reactor with the purpose and promise by the Indian government to supply electricity to their people. Once India had the reactor they turned it into a bomb and India became a nuclear country. India has never been a country to be trusted. I'm not Pakistanian nor a racist but the Indian government has never been trustworthy since their creation of a nation after Ghandi. Remember too the Russia and India developed the S200, S300 and S400 systems as well as military aircraft and has a huge inventory of T72 tanks which they are now trying to sell.
Mr Biernat, please go ahead and compare the last 30 years in the economies of Poland and Russia, as it is a *prime* example if how to almost purposefully f-up a country. Suggested lecture: "Russia is not Poland, and that is too bad", The New York Times 30 Aug 1998
To say Zelensky wants to fly below the radar, is a strange description of an actor turned leader of his country. Stil Putin is a huge failure in any sense and Zelensky is easy to love.
Very interesting. Makes me ponder how exactly putler justifies his personal actions and those on behalf of his country into the gold standard, that he is obviously resting within. Russian history tells us how the ruler has transcended into the great father protecting his children from the whims of the egoistic boyars, to the extent of having them killed in war to their own so called benefit. Here we must stop and accept that this mindset still excists in the ru public, perhaps more in the rural aereas, but also within city dwellers by silently accepting the ruling of the father no matter how distorted. The depth of the ru territory brings evidence to the ru people of the success of their system, so who are they, feudal peasants, to question the superior? Just a couple of views from me, many more needed to understand ru, but it is all in writing readily available, we must simply start reading and stop disregarding this behemoth. History will not be kind to us if we don’t soon deal with this devil.
Outstanding episode stating universal truths and concepts in language everyone can understand and relate to. Once again, you make us a lot smarter. Worthy of repeated viewings. The comparisons of Zelenksy and Putin couldn't be more stark.
🇺🇦 Thx Mark, pearls of wisdom 🇺🇦. 9:18 vladolf putler uses 1930's Germany as his blueprint for diplomacy. The bunker scene can't come soon enough. President Zelensky not only stands in stark contrast to czar putler, but few world leaders could have or would have done what he has done for his people.
Im going to guess your audience is mostly over 50's (boomers), i cant beleive you just said the west is on the rise whilst russia and china are in decline. you must be on some very strong psycadelics to not see the literal dumpster fire that is the west atm. 9,500 millionairs just left the u.k very recently to dubai (because the west is on the rise obviously). But i understand your polish roots will never let you see eye to eye with russia forever cheerleading anything capitalist and western forever asking how high when america says jump. I dont know if you've noticed this as a "professional economist" but wages have increased in Russia whilst in the west they struggle to pay for basic human necessaties whilst rapidly getting worse and everyone apart from you aparantly is shouting about it. Maybe as a professional economist you should help fix your system rather than throwing stones in glass houses. I will happily debate you 1 to 1 i couldnt even get past 3 minuits of your apsolute delusion its not even worth a sniff at if you cant even admit your working class and by now middle class is rapidly evaporating into social housing and government handouts which is by the way the definition of complete failure of capitalism
Americans in a rascally manner threatened the security of Russia by including all countries of eastern Europe in NATO. Why don't you make a video on this
Volodomir Zelensky, a comedian and actor, a person who agreed to be the front man for an oligarch's political goals, is someone who likes to fly under the radar? In what world is this presenter living? Zelensky's whole life is based on him being the centre of attention. If the eternal goal is truth, perhaps you need to keep looking for it.
Think of where Russia would be if after communism collapsed they went full speed into democracy and free markets. They could be an economic powerhouse with their people living freely and prospering bi time right now. Let’s hope Putin is overthrown and true freedom comes to the Russian people.
I never took much interest in economics, other than at a day to day survival level. And philosophy I found a little too varied and difficult to get acquainted with. But you make these things clear and interesting. And relevant to today's problems.
