What should I do to connect from my other PC to the local network? What should I modify? With the main one I open the server correctly but with my second I cannot connect it
As a beginner I installed Aurora (Fedora 40 variant) alongside Windows on the same drive and hit some snags: 1. The drive partition I had intended for Linux was already formatted, so I had to go back into Windows to delete that partition. I had no idea about the Reclaim option. 2. In the Installation Destination section during install, it shows the existing Windows partitions and the USB drive. I tried selecting the Custom option and couldn't figure out why any partitions I created didn't work. As it turns out, it's impossible for a beginner to figure out the Custom partitions. There was a link option called something like "Automatically Create These Partitions" I clicked that detected my unformatted space on the drive and automatically created the ~4 partitions that I needed within that space to progress with the installation. 3. I created a root password and opted to skip adding a user. It then blocked me after installation with a user/password login screen where I didn't know how to get past it. Eventually after multiple sheer guesses I just entered "root" as the username along with my root password, which finally let me in. At no point did it ever tell me to use the "root" username. 4. For some reason the desktop was zoomed in by 300% (WHY!?) and I had to go into the Display options to set it to 100%. Everything was perfectly fine after that. These aren't major showstopping issues, but they are unnecessary barriers that force beginners to give up and go back to Windows. The installation process should be absolutely 100% intuitive and give actual information instead of assuming that users are willing to trawl through forum posts and watch install guides for answers.
Does anybody know if fedora 41 works with timeshift? I have ruined my fedora 40 boot by not listenig to what people say and now i cant successfully do a restore from any of my countless snapshots.
Basically, time shift requires @ instead of / in front of certain directories such as your home folder. I was able to create snapshots for the last several months, but when it comes to restoring, it says that it doesn't support it without the @ and you can't change it, aka Time shift will either not attempt to restore, or it will fail if it does
@@Digital-Scriptorium Here is how you can check if you have this problem. Boot into live USB, install timeshift, choose the drive where you have snapshots, attempt to restore one of them. Don't worry you won't even make it to the dry run step. When you select your snapshot and confirm to restore you will get an Unsupported file sub system layout. I spent about 10 hrs trying to somehow manually get a snapshot to work, or to manually reinstall grub with chroot, none of them worked
@@Digital-Scriptorium It seems I got what the problem is, I don't have some module, but the new problem come out, which is each time I install the not-found-module, there is a new module not found, again and again
I mostly manage my raspberry pi without a moise/keyboard and monitor. Can I kick off both auth and world server using putty or ssh alone? Ideally, id like to keep those services running in the background.
Absolutely! I usually just run mine headless and use just SSH. You can also create them as system services which I think the wiki shows how to do that.

If Ctrl+c closes them, what do I hit to do something else or not interact with the world server? God I hope I make sense 😂. I guess I would have to write a bash script to run those servers up. @@joshuajohnson6649 that is a very good question. So I believe it will have to be made into a system service and might need some tweaking. Quite frankly the best reference to help guide you with those steps would be your referred AI aka chatgpt, copilot, etc.

Thank you very much!! I have successfully set up a Docker-based Vanilla WoW server on my Linux server, combined with Hermes proxy, and everything is working smoothly on 1.14 client. All thanks to your guild is incredible. However, I’ve encountered a small issue when attempting to use the ".go" command in-game, such as ".go warsong gulch". The error message "This command is not available to you." appears, indicating that my character does not have permission to use the command. Would you kindly assist me in resolving this final hurdle? I would be very grateful for any guidance or instructions on how to grant my character the necessary permissions to use the ".go" command. Thank you.
Just to make sure a DB change to GM level is enough. Try a different account and up your gm level in the world server console. You can always just queue up battle bots too and enter at a battle ground NPC. Might make your testing a little more difficult as people try to attacl you though :)

Sounds like HermesProxy with one of my server guides is the best option for you. I have a guide on setting up HermesProxy for the newer classic clients. So feel free to check that out.
mistakenly downloaded 24h2 instead of 23h2, i thought i was going insane with little differences like the taskmanager logo, and the quicksettings difference. idk if these are actual difference of 23 and 24 but why does microsoft not prompt whether you would want to install 23 or 24? neither did it inform me upon downloading

It should work for Home too. If you have function keys on your keyboard you might need to use those to get the F keys to function properly during that part of the install
Alright... I've made progress. I've gotten to the point of compiling in Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 (and I figured out where I was screwing up with Boost, it was a genuinely embarassing mistake). I'm turning up errors in the compile... three instances of "LNK1181 cannot open input file 'C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 9.0\lib.obj' " for the authserver, dbimport, and worldserver respectively. My suspicion is that I did something wrong in CMake.
@@Digital-Scriptorium And naturally, that means on to the next problem... when running the worldserver application, I start seeing problems loading module strings... it first says 'loaded 0 module strings. DB table 'module_string' is empty.', then it attempts to load Module Strings Locale, where it gives a similar message about the Module Strings Locale DB table being empty. After that, it tries to initialize data stores, and returns (in red text) "[1146] Table 'acore_world.charsections_dbc' doesn't exist. Your database structure is not up to date. Please make sure you've executed all queries in the sql/updates folders'. I figure as long as I keep moving on to the next problem, I'm ever so gradually approaching the goal.
This is strictly for the server emulation. The game client you would use on an other machine to connect into it. Like a Windows machine or Linux running Wine.
I'm trying to compile the server files in VS Code using all the tools in the most current versions and it's showing 36 errors. Because of this it is not possible to compile the server.
Since the current project is now in an archived state the code is having issues with newer version of visual studio. The discord page for the project has a workaround for it I believe. Once the Cataclysm Classic project is stable I will make a video on that.

@@Digital-Scriptorium I used the same version of BOOTS and most of the errors were fixed. There were only three errors left. I'm trying to clone the project and recompile to see if it will work. What discord was mentioned so I could try to find a solution?
Hey, I followed this guide and got everything working. The issue is I constantly disconnect from the server. I can't stay one for more than 2-3 minutes before getting disconnected. Any idea why that's happening?
@@Lolerstomp does anything get printed out on the auth or world server CMD Windows? Any errors? Another thing is do you have any Logitech apps or anytime of that sort which might be kicking on trying to eat up ports that are in use.

Some structure has changed by the project since I made the video. I need to make a new video to show the changes soon. If you check out the projects discord page they mention the fix for this.

Hi, if you noticed the windows security screen has changed the drop down is aligned to the top now the services screen has changed now. It has a navy blu color with services showing in yellow color. I dont know why. could you please confirm yours is showing the same way.

For some reason when I entered the product key it said it was not active try again or try another key :/ do you know what could have caused it? I've been using this key for years not to mention that half of the installation process was in English xD (I'm Polish so I expected everything to be in Polish).
What version of Windows was the product key from originally? I know Microsoft has been getting a bit iffy with keys lately. I remember Windows 7 keys were good for Windows 11 up until last year
@@Digital-Scriptorium I'm not sure, I got this key from a friend, but interestingly, it worked normally on version 23h2, but even though I didn't activate the product key and did the offline installation, when I go to the activation information it says that the product is activated, and when I enter the slmgr.vbs /xpr command I get information that the computer has been permanently activated, I have no idea what's going on, the newer the system version, the stranger things happen :D.
@@Digital-Scriptorium Per your recommendations, I'm running CMAKE 3.30.4 in a 64 bit environment (which does match my OS), and Boost 1.86.0. From what I've been able to find, Cmake's makers set a policy to disable the findboost module in the 3.30 release, in favor of a Boost config file specifically for Cmake that's been part of Boost since version 1.70... but for some reason I'm getting an error when I try to compile as if the config file (which I've confirmed is present in my Boost file) isn't catching. Do bear with me, please. I'm a theatre arts major and this stuff is NOT my forte. I'm generally lucky if I can get a spreadsheet to behave itself when I get a formula locked in on it. I opted to take on this project both for the love of the game and a personal growth challenge.
@@Digital-Scriptorium Appreciated, but not effective. Still getting the same issue hanging up the compiling. I'm also getting an 'error in configuration process, project files may be invalid' window popping up, but I'm rather assuming it's a consequence rather than a cause of its own.
@@Digital-Scriptorium win7, and turned out it was an issue specific to win7 with many old games. It's fixed by killing explorer exe process during play or using custom ddwrapper with colorfix set to 1. Also turned out my pc is too old and doesn't support opengl 2 so dxgl doesn't work, maybe it would fix the issue if it did. I believe it's supposed to do the same thing as ddwrapper I used but is more advanced. Tldr I used wrong instructions for my particular machine, on a more modern pc everything worked fine
Hi, I am having a little problem with adding commands into the world server. i posted this issue at the AzerothCore Discord server but I am getting incorrect responses. I checked the database and looked under commands and the .levelup is there but when I use it with the proper syntax the response is "Command .levelup does not exist". Same thing happens in the chat dialog in game. I have escalated my GM level to 3 -1 and tried all different kids of similar commands but nothing works. What could be broken in the installation that could be causing this? I figured it out and solved the issue. I got gm level mixed up with character level. I created a new account and then in console set it to 3. Logged into account and issued the command to .levelup and it worked. Maybe this will help others. from the grind.
If you do an in place upgrade from 10 to 11 the only thing I ran into was needing to update my Nvidia graphics driver. If you are doing a nuke and clean install things have been very stable for me.
@@horationelson57 whenever at all possible you should always choose to do a clean upgrade. What i normally suggest is to do the in place upgrade just to ensure your licensing is all good... then do a full wipe and install from scratch. You should back up all your data prior to any upgrade so it shouldn't be a problem to restore it... doing the upgrade then the wipe and install only adds maybe an hour to your process but it can save you so many issues that can show up from an in place upgrade that is just unique to your config.
Works perfectly. I only had the Worldserver connection problem at the end. I didn't see your comment under the video. *****Updates 5/2024***** For me it generated an error when starting the Worldserver, it couldn't access the character database. The SQL patch has now fixed this error... thank god ;) This guide is great! Thanx a lot

Great video. I had a small problem after installing Debian 12 and docker with Portainer as sudo was not working. I had to install it. Also your configuration file sudoers isn't located anywhere in etc subdirectory. I had to edit group and add my user name in the sudo section and then it worked perfectly. You might want to update that or advise where to find this sudoers config file. If everything was perfect we would not learn anything. Your guides are very good and you are an excellent instructor. Thank you very much.

If you get an error that CMake *Could NOT find Boost (missing: system filesystem program_options iostreams regex) (found suitable version "1.74.0", minimum required is "1.70") Locate your Boost folder Run the Bootstrap.bat file Run the b2.exe file This resolved it BUT I had to pay attention as it was written for an older version. 2 BAT files are made, clicking both is fine, but the one that creats the B2.EXE is the windows shell bat. Hope this helps someone else :) and I HOPE this is my last post hehe

Yah I backed out, reinstalled, still getting the "Cant find libssl-3-x64.dll" on launching auth server in your tutorial, even though I can see it in the OpenSSL folder :) So I've posted on the Azerothcore discord, in hopes to bother you less, as I assume this is a version issue or....something I've done..twice... :) If it were easy there would be millions of people playing solo servers,right? :) And someone would have compiled an all-in-1 server distribution pack by now for $$ heh
@@Digital-Scriptorium Ill try and find one. I manually added it to appdata/name/local and I checked my system variables to ensure I had the same file name/location, but the install failed on DLing binaries at the CALL to boost ;) So ill try an older version
@@Digital-Scriptorium Getting MS to validate you a link to download the ISO directly from the website has been spotty, at best, since the links went live on OCT 1. Also some of the links were producing corrupt install.wim files for the first 24hrs. The launch has been one big pain in the butt.
Odd question, with the account and such. Can you use ingame commands? As an example, I have a old (VERY old) private server for 3.0.3, works wonky but works, and that one can use in GM (Game Master) commands, such as teleportation, cheats, modding levels, adding items and such. The account you create is but a very basic vanilla account, as if you're signing up for Blizzard?

Unfortunately, some structure changes have happened with the project and that's why it's failing. I'm hoping to make a new guide for it in the next month. For now the best thing to do is to check the projects discord page as it has the information that is needed to make it happy.
I followed your guide and got everything working. So you where a big help but I do have a problem. I installed the game server on a separate machine. For some reason it will not let me connect using the local ip address and have to use my wan address. Ok so I login and can see the realm list but when I click join, it says logging into realm then just goes back to realm selection. So I never go into the character select screen. Your help would be appreciated. Thank You
@@Digital-Scriptorium I am using a UDM-Pro so there should be no issues there. Also installed a repack and got that to work. Maybe where I installed that repack before is causing issues with this clean install. Might have to create a new VM and try this on a clean install.
