It certainly was ahead of its time, way faster and more advanced than even supercars. Which is impressive, considering that they were starting off a 964 base. Now this car looks ridiculous of course. I’m not a big fan either
It reminds me how the Audi Quattro S1 turbo works : nothing under 3k rpm. Also, it's very hard to keep the pressure high. If you go under 2k, even for half a second, the re-acceleration will be really long.
Watch previous parts about this model car in playlist “Flea Market Ferrari Series”! Link to the first video is in the description. Enjoy watching my longest video ever!
Good question! What I did is I simply bought a complete polishing kit in a local store. It’s a little box for “car paint repair” in which a tissue, two compounds and sandpapers are found. For modelcars I’m using first paste (to eliminate bigger and deeper scratches) and second one (applying it to have an overall smoother and glossier finish) sequentially. There are different compounds available though, but it’s important to read how to apply them right. Some are only applied on a heated surface for example. I hope my answer was useful!
@@Bluecarrr Thanks for replying, i found a set from Tamiya which contains 3 compounds, it looks to be pretty popular among people who build models from kits. So I am definitely going to try that set, since users are very pleased with it.
Excellent video - very inspiring for me to try harder with my own restoration. I have not been quite as brave in pulling it totally apart like you due to dexterity issues from a disability. Great to see all your cleaning work. It makes a huge difference.
Thank you really much for your kind words, I really appreciate them! I’m sorry for your situation though. I also took a break from restoration especially making videos and now broke a finger - can’t do quality restorations anymore. But we’ll see in the future if I will continue
Haha, good one! They weren’t actually the fastest of their kind, but they weren’t slow for their time either. Smart roadster has got 82hp as I mentioned which is enough to reach speeds over 180kph 😀
Hey there, I don’t remember having this problem on my 550. The paint in general was in a quite good condition and I only had to polish its surface. When I have something like in your case I try to clean it away or polish out. I have no instruments to repaint modelcars and I hope you will not need to do that
Good question. I think if we only consider quality, that would be Kyosho. They use better materials, better paint and arguably put more details than Norev. F90 is more fragile too; it has some scratches on windshield already, just from cleaning it, while G30 is looking perfectly fine after three years. I think I wrote my opinion on these cars in description of the video 😉
I wish I could sell you mine! It’s an interesting pattern that every time the production of these models stop, prices skyrocket into outer space. I purchased this particular G30 three years ago now for about 30€ and I’m glad that I did, now I couldn’t afford one 😅
I think this model require few improvements , definitely get rid of the stock tires it made the car look literally twice cheaper . Change mirrors to the something actually reflective ,and maybe some additional polishing for the body if u have some tools.
It’s a great idea, but the objective of this project is to keep this time capsule as close to its original look as possible. Maybe if I purchase something that isn’t that valuable or rare, I’ll try modifying it to made more high quality and realistic looking 👌 The polishing part is obligatory for all the restorations. Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate it!
I am really happy to receive a such positive comment on this restoration, thank you so much! My main objective is to save the original condition of the model. I just released a new video about another old DieCast model, I hope you will enjoy watching it as well 😉
