ABOUT SIGNATURE THEATRE Founded in 1989, Signature Theatre broadens and brightens the region's cultural landscape with its bold productions of Broadway-quality musicals and daring new plays performed in an intimate space. In addition to the finest talent from the DC metropolitan area as well as New York, Signature has been a home to such theater luminaries as Cameron Mackintosh, Terrence McNally, John Kander and Fred Ebb, and, of course, Stephen Sondheim. In its 18 years under Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer, Signature has received 276 Helen Hayes Award nominations and 59 Hayes Awards.
One of the most amazing, most talented bands I've ever seen/heard. Saw them play twice at the Hiawatha Music Festival in Marquette; & also once at a small High School auditorium in Marquette. I think we stay EFO @ The Ark in Ann Arbor also. Amazing sound. Looking Out the Fish Bowl is one of my All-Time Fav CDs! Absolutely classic!
So many comments here about the accent. I’m American - would love to know what you guys are hearing. What does Barrett’s British accent tell you about her background?
This video is the perfect representation of a show at Signature…great singing and acting and a wonderful band…that is too loud for the singer. Every time we go to a musical at Signature, the band overpowers the singers. Please, please, tell your sound people that we have to be able to hear the singers without them having to belt every word. I’m tired of missing lyrics because the sound engineer turned up the band too much.
Saw you last night at Signature and loved every minute of it! Swigin' rhythm section too! If I may be so bold as to suggest two songs I'd LOVE to hear you sing: I've got the world on a string (Sarah version, of course) and A sleeping bee (Nancy W--and yes, I forgive you...). I'll be looking for forthcoming shows and thanks again for a truly uplifting evening.
I wish I could come see this, but I live in CA now. I saw the Ahmanson production in 2018 and it was absolutely incredible. I'm sure Signature will do an amazing job too.
The new concert version provided in NYC by Encores! reminded me of your wonderful production. I’m so glad the RU-vid videos are still here. I sent the links to all my friends who saw this new version.
@@sigtheatre so curious, because the original orchestration is almost as the same as the King and I. If possible, would you please share what the differences are?
Absolutely amazing, Gabriel Ebert has the headphones positioned such that he can wear both them and his hat. I love everything about this video and this show.
Such a shame that there is but one like button, for if I had the capability, I would throw heaps of gold upon this video that captured such a miraculous performance.
Just watch Gabriel Ebert's energy in this one number in a recording studio and imagine how glorious it will be to see the full show on the big stage. The Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical will be stunning.
I have a feeling that when this show closes, it might create a black hole. How can the universe continue to function if this beautiful musical is not being performed?
