There’s something intriguing about poring over old photographs. Whether the photos are black and whites from the Old Country or yellow-stained images from the halcyon days of our own youth, looking at them is like peeking through a window at another world.
I’ve inherited boxes and boxes of old photos, I come across many more during my travels. This is the format that I use to preserve and share them with you.
In a nutshell "if the idea of going through a random person's photo albums" intrigues you then this is your channel. I obtain original photos, slides and negatives from various sources, then put them together as a themed slideshow. They offer a glimpse into the past, from a time when taking an image required thought, patience and skill. Enjoy!
At 00:48 into this video is A.Sabella's restaurant at fisherman's wharf. In the 60's they made the very best Dungeness crab Louie salad!!!! I think today in 2023 it's a Applebee's restaurant now.
Very cool. I wonder if pools back them had pool lights like they do today? The water definitely had to be topped off with a garden hose and not an auto fill valve like modern pools.
Save these pictures and other pitctures of great cities, so we can have a record of what humanity was like before it came to an end. Which judging by how SF, NYC, LA, Chicago, and Philly is now, I think it has ended. I guess the aliens will look as these pictures...
I moved here in October 1981. I've lived at 13 different locations, all within the areas east of Twin Peaks. I live in Noe Valley for the rest of my life. I love this city!
I was on the crew of Lloyd Hamilton's Hawker Sea Fury F.B.11, "Baby Gorilla" from 1979-1997. Fun years. We eventually got a second Sea Fury flying with a Pratt & Whitney R-4360 installed called," Furias".
at 0:04 is the legendary Clay Lacey's purple P-51 Miss Van Nuys.. She made her re-appearance this year 2023 at Reno under the name "Plum Crazy" now owned by Vicky Benzing. It's great to see my childhood favourite back in the sky after so many years!
I was at Torii Station in Sobe, a little north of Kadena in 1973-1975. Used to watch the f-4’s fly around when an SR-71 was taking off or one was landing!!! Was in the Kadena hospital a couple times seeking and got good medical care!! I was in the USASA.
Wow, this really sheds light on how bad it's gotten down there. I thought it had always looked the way it dd last year but seeing this makes me realize the declining trend. Beautiful place though.
At 1:20 of the video the man standing with the young lady is Paul Poberenzy who started EAA in the basement of his home and grew it into what it is today.
Nice! I was at the Reno Air Races from '74 to '86. Great times! Red Baron and Rare Bear were my favorites. Lefty Gardner's 'White Lightning' was also a great show whether he was doing aerobatics or bending around the pylons.👍

I might. I have two reels of 8mm movie film that are titled "racing". These films are most definitely from my aviation collection. I have been meaning to digitize my old movies. I will try to get them up on the channel soon.
