Thank you for this video, it was great timing. I just today was debating whether to get the 3 quart or 6 quart, the 6 quart is on sale on Amazon prime today. I’m getting the 3 quart, I’m cooking for one.
I had the sams iaaue. My big toe ia really big and my vibrams, I had five pair, all faced the same iasue after a couple of months. I complained to Vibram about it, with pictures, never got a reaction back. I don't believe customer service is a term they ever heatd of. So i went to other brands lime Merell and Xero and vivo, Freet and never looked back at the 5 fingers. I use my remaining par at the gym but will never buy a new pair again.
Hey Luise! That sucks, they should treat you better than that! I wear Skinners and can really recommend them if you want to really feel the earth under your feet but still be protected. I would argue that they are even more minimal than Vibrams or Vivos, as they are literally socks with abrasion- and puncture-resistent rubbery bottoms. There are no separate toes however, unfortunately, but they have quite wide toe "boxes", and although there is a small amount of inward compression as with any sock, much less so than any shoe, so your toes are not completely but relatively free, and certainly more so than with Vivos. For my part I want to try some Fivefingers, as I have a bunion on one foot and I tried some on yesterday at the shop and found that, more than merely allowing my toes to be free, they somewhat forced them to assume healthy and correct positions, which is what I really need. Skinners, even with their light pressure, still encourage my big toe to bend slighly inwards as it wants to do and as I want to prevent it from doing. However, it is exactly because Skinners do this less than any other shoe that I have tried that I have worn only them for the past few years, and I like them a lot, and I would really encourage you to try them if you like something very minimal. We should petition them to make a toed version!
@@luiseEllen Of course! Well yesterday I also learning about the Peluva Strand, which is a new toe shoe competitor to Vibram Fivefingers, and apparently/supposedly the only one. Unfortunately it seems they only ship to the US and Canada so far, so we will have to wait or figure something out. ☹ I live in Europe too.
Vibram is a terrible company in my experience. I bought 3 pairs ($500) and some socks, paid 2 day shipping and a week later Vibram hasn't even shipped my package. They have zero customer service and there are mostly negative reviews for similar issues. Vibram doesn't care about their customers. I ordered VivoBarefoots on the same day, paid 2 day shipping and they arrived on time. vibram also works with NIke now, and Nike uses child slave labor.
Thank you for this! I may have just fatally wounded my 6 qt after 4 years 😢 Although I loved it, I think the smaller one will work better for me now. 😊
Sorry to hear that! I can definitely see the new one is smaller! It’s so frustrating something like this happened to a brand you loved and trusted! It also happens to other brands. I’ve seen side by side photo of Xero shoes, the new one is narrower than the old one. I have a pair of VFF KMD sport that I love, I also like Saguaro Luck 1 but they are probably not good for hiking in the woods. Maybe you can try Saguaro Smart or Vitality. They are like VFF knockoffs except the toe separation part. Good ground feel and a lot affordable!
I love the instant pot too. I have the 6 and 3 quart. There is a channel called The Cooking Family. I think they have 5 or 6 Instant Pots. But they have a family of 9. I love how it cooks pasta and hard boiled eggs. You can do almost anything in these pots. Also it uses very little energy as well.
Hey Luise, funny that I come across this video thinking I might get some five fingers for hiking. Who knows if it’ll be a good idea given your experience. I’ve had some vivos and while I’m not a huge fan of the upper (too plasticky in most models for my taste) I love the soles. More of the original primus than of the trail ones (which don’t have quite the grip and flexibility I’d want of a trail runner or hiker). But maybe they improved in the meantime. I want to point you to Wildling shoes. I’m almost sure you must have come across them. German brand that produces in Portugal. For a non fivefigers user, the best barefoot experience and choice of materials. I was impressed with the durability as well. The only worry I have with them would be protection from sharp objects - that’s why I’d be looking at five fingers for Rocky Mountain trails. I’d be curious what you think of the wildlings. Marlene
That's exactly what I used to do in my big one, whole chickens. But I've moved away from that to chicken portions, and a mix of thighs and breasts in the small one works just fine, and it's surprising how much the small one can fit.
I've been wearing them since 2013 and I've ran into the same situation where the size 41 is smaller than the first. But thought maybe I've gained weight. They are cheaper if you can get them from the USA.
I’m new to the barefoot thing . However I’m really enjoying my peluva strand lightweight trainer . They were the same size as my regular shoes .( I also wore thin meaiguo toe socks without issues.)
Hi Firstly, I'm really surprised and disappointed you've received this service from us at Barefoot Junkie. We do try our best but it seems on this occasion you have been short changed. Again I am a little bemused regarding the refund as we offer 45 days returns policy? Please contact our customer service department and we will issue a refund. On the sizing, it really isn't something we are aware of. We know certain styles come up small so recommend going up a size but we're not aware of size differences of same style? Once again sorry and please contact us and we can arrange your refund. Kind regards Dan Barefoot Junkie
You never contacted us for a refund. I appreciate you have not had a good experience which honestly bemused me somewhat as we as a business are very accommodating. Like I say. Still happy to refund your shoes. All you have to do is call us. Kind regards Dan Barefoot Junkie
Natural healthy human feet are shaped like 'duck feet'! If your toes are naturally aligned and feet conditioned from living in 5 Fingers, and if they're already as strong and developed as you want them, there's no need to wear toe-spreaders in your Vivobarefoot or other foot-shaped shoes. Which model walking boot did you get?
Unfortunilty after 51 (out of 56) years of shoe shaped not foot shaped shoes my toes are far from naturally aligned!! I still haven't found any suitable walking boots :(
@@luiseEllen Ah, sorry, I misunderstood something :~) I thought you were saying you didn't want to use toe-spreaders because you didn't need your feet to be any wider.
I agree with you that Vibrams made in Vietnam and Myanmar are of different sizes. I experienced the same. But I couldn't exchange them because it was too expensive to ship back from where I live. I have since passed them to my son who's foot size is a little smaller.
Further developments in my Vibram love affair...we have now spilt up! Check out this video ⬇ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nMGFPq8KU-8.htmlsi=RCNrr86PbyeKHaY-
Nice review, especially the part where their weakness is. I've got a pair snice 5 months and used them to run on soft trails and grass. I avoid running on harder surfaces to preserve my feet and the shoes as well.
Hey. Quick comment.. i dont want to talk you down but Vivobarefoots quality is bad.. i had a few shoes and i had to repair them several times.. even though they are quite pricey. I wear now shoes from Zaqq . Which is a german brand and they are made in germany.. the best closed barefoot shoes i ever had
Hey there! I got into barefoot running a while back and picked up a pair of the Xero shoes sandals. They might be a good alternative. They still have the protective bottom, but the toes are completely open air, so there's no risk of blowing out a single toe seem. Might be worth a shot if the Vivo don't work outl. Might even be good just to compare. I think the Genesis is there original, but I picked up the Z-Trek version. Happy trails!
