I love this song. It was recorded for Guitarist magazine April 1998 with Jan Cyrca. The CD with the magazine had the Satch version & the backing track. I know this, because I had the original magazine & CD back in 1998 & loved it. Over the years, it got lost & I just recently bought a pristine April 1998 Guitarist magazine & pristine CD on ebay, which (for me) was like finding a unicorn turd! Satch absolutely kills it on this track, such control, flow & class. He actually plays to the tune, which at times he is guilty of not doing. You can watch Satch jam & he can be repetitive at times, but this was just pure magic. This was at the time of the release of Crystal Planet, which in my opinion was Satch's last great album. Great guitarist & a great guy. I'm so grateful to have seen him live in the mid to late 90's when he was at his prime. Legend.
Joe was photographed when improvising this for Guitarist magazine and the picture had the caption "Joe sets the controls for the heart of tbe sun" which is a reference to the Pink Floyd song "Set the controls for the heart of the sun". The backing track was done by Jan Cyrka
This is not a song. It's an impro by the grand master for the website jamtrackcentral.com and it's called ''Satch Dreams.'' Here on this track, Joe shows us how to improvise on a backingtrack. And as a listener not only do I feel like I could never be as good at playing guitar, let alone improvising such a track; but also feel myself drifted away in another dimensions...
Oh wow!! I'm only hearing this 1 for the 1st time& there are no words that describe how sensual & almost exotic feeling that this beautiful piece makes me feel!! ❤❤😍😊 U are and ALWAYS will be my 1and only all time favorite 🔖!!! Love you Joe satriani!!! ❤❤❤
The Bach of our time. A sheer GENIUS. I've seen him so many times and have never once heard him slip up. He gives you more than your money's worth. God bless you Joe. You've touched every heart string I have and look forward to more. Your fans absolutely love you for sharing your heart with us good SIR. And for being the hardest working musician the past 40+ years.

christian cote - We agree with basically everything you say. You seem like a really great *happy camper* guy. I have some candy and *great energy* in the basement. Want some?
Thank you SO much for uploading this. One of the most deeply touching, expressive , beautiful pieces of music. Satriani totally shines. This probably the best recordings I have ever heard of him.
+Bibi Landin It is beautiful, no denying. If you love this and haven't hear Turkey Man, off of a bonus CD (additional creations) that you could only get at his concert, you definitely should. My favorite....
Hola Carlos, ese backing apareció en una revista que creo que se llama o llamaba "Guitarrista" que venía con un CD. Lamentablemente perdí ambos, revista y CD. Me podrías enviar ese backing si aun lo tienes... Saludos.
This was a one off improvisation sat h had played when he was invited to jan cyrkas studio, this was track made for guitarist magazine, the track then the backing track without guitar! It was all based on melodic soloing for guitarist readers!!!!!
i think he doesnt realise what he does hes too busy playing i like the innovative style its a rear gift that someone can deliver whatever and make it sound amazing its toutching every being (only those who like this my mother doesnt) hoe does not have to sing its full enough i dont know so much musisians who can bring out an album instrumental like this
Actually, I've watch a recored where Joe talks about his songs and how they are realased. Satch Boogie was song twho hundreds and something. Most of his work is unreleased. @Blackend65 is right. I don't know about Heart of The Sun but I do have as Guitarist's Special along with Dog with Crown and Earring, Formula 1, Amazing Guitar and Trumble.
reread my post the word (not) should be deleated, I have almost gone insane, trying to pick up on one crazy trick that i just could not get, every decade of so the comes clong one of a king and his name is (satch) or joe for short
joe is always in touch with his guitr, and what he feels is whats plays, he is among the best ever referenced, or acclaimed, i really think he has iffluenced more ppl than jimi or eddy, or page and that says alot, did i forget angus, or adrian, or vinnie and so many others, point blank he is one of the best and even while not sweating and swearing trying to figure out one of his pcs, the joy he brings too me, is a gift from above.
