I had one. A four door. Smooth little V8. Had a hood ornament. Hard to believe Oldsmobile is gone. I think once upon a time the Cutlass was a best seller. So many fond Oldsmobile memories. Enjoy your machine
I can’t wait for you to get your Cutlass washed and detailed. It looks like it would clean up well. I still have my parents 80 Cutlass Supreme with the same engine, but only has 38k on it. So an LS swap is not in its future, but who knows. Good luck with your Cutlass.
Same, but I think 99% of newer cars are hideous and ridiculously overcomplicated. This one drives so nice and smooth and is ridiculously comfortable. I love it!
It is, but I bought it as a kit with a timing set and lifters. I am running stock rockers and pushrods with Crane valve springs. I think 10309-1 for the springs/retainers.
Just saw your first video of this from 3 years. Was gonna ask if you still had it then this video popped up. I guess you do as of last year. Haha. Nice
A couple that lives across the street have 2 kids and a newborn and they got a divorce i think he cheated. She put his snow blower in the garbage today only noticeable damage is a flat right tire pull start sounds good but i need to buy gas, thinking about making a go cart with the engine...not sure yet.
I have a question for the throttle setup. Im working on swapping this engine into a 1977 Bolens G9 garden tractor. Ive wired the low speed/shutoff part of the solenoid to a switch so i can shut the engine off. My question is this: would it be harmful to the solenoid if i attached a throttle cable to it so i can use a gas pedal instead of the integrated high speed part of the solenoid? Would this damage the solenoid at all? Thanks!
@@chevy385 Hi I'm back. I finally got all the parts i needed to start the engine (the OEM starter went bad), but couldn't get it to start. I was getting fuel to cylinder 1 and possibly 2, but number 3 isn't getting anything as far as i can tell. It sputters when i crank it over, but wont fire or run on its own, even with two cylinders. I tried using a little ether to get it started, but it wouldn't run on ether either. I think its because of a lack of fuel to to injectors, even though there is fuel at the injection pump. I cant find a bleed screw anywhere, and I'm kinda at the end of my expertise. Any ideas? There's a short on my channel of the startup fail if that helps.
Crack the nut open at each injector while cranking and check for fuel. Also, you need a lift pump before the injector pump that makes at least 1 psi of pressure. Try loosening the nut at each injector first to check for fuel flow
Hey, just under the thermostat housing where the top radiator hose outlet is, there is another brass outlet.. what is that for? I have the similar engine but the 2 cylinder one also off a Thermo King fridge unit. I’m trying to hook up a radiator to it.. the top radiator hose comes off thermostat house and bottom radiator hose comes off the the water pump outlet.. but there’s still that outlet just under the top radiator hose/thermostat housing that I can’t figure out. Any idea? Thanks
This one has an electric fuel pump. I would start by checking that. You could also try a gravity feed fuel system with a tank above the engine to see if it starts that way
Hey i dont know if you still respond to comments but if you still have your 86 square body with the 305 can you please comment to me back i have a 86 stepside with the 305 and i need a picture of the engine
I just recently bought a 2nd gen cruze with the 1.6 diesel and its missing the skidplate you mentioned that has the access flap. Ive been looking up trying to find one for days and cant find anything....any chance you saw a part number while you were under there? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I actually ended up taking it off. I caught a tree branch in the road one day and it tore it half way off. It is actually part of the whole pan underneath. I can look for a number but I may not be able to see it
To take the clutch off do you just have to pull the bolts out around the edge or am I gonna need more than the 2-3 inches of clearance inside the reefer unit? The unit is a TS-500, not sure what engine it has but it looks like the one in your video.
I honestly cannot say. I never looked in it. I would think they would allow it to be serviceable inside the unit but I have seen sillier things. Let me take a look and I will get back to you
