Je suis en train d’apprendre à jouer cette pièce et du coup je regarde cette vidéo en boucle, mais je n’aurai jamais ce niveau 😂 Cela dit, plus j’écoute les pièces pour piano de Schubert, plus j’apprécie sa musique 🎶 🎵
And yes, this is how high level pianists (and Technicians) evaluate pianos. He first listens to the overall tone, the colors, the sustain of singing lines. Then he tests the piano's ability to produce fast, repeated and controlled notes. At the end he points out voicing irregularities and finally focuses upon the piano's dampers - how cleanly they cut off (and he correctly points out that it is not "so" easy to make them better. As a Technician myself I watched Alexis Sultanov go back and forth for 2 hours pre-concert, testing a Steinway vs a Grotrian - and he finally told me to make the Steinway play like the Grotrian!
