One of the best gigs on graspop. While Korn was playing as headact on the mainstage, those guys were blowing every true metal head away in the marquee. 🖤
I just can’t get into the new singer. Decapitated was my favorite death metal band since I first heard them in the early 2000’s. I’ve tried with the new albums, but that new singer just doesn’t have the same vocals or energy. Vogg is still the master, but the rest of the band just can’t match what they had before.
Backing tracks unfortunately 50/50 or kinda even more (rhythm, some leads, etc from hdd). Vogg is amazing and I understand he has his vision and wants it to be tight and sounding exact but... Live is live, it doesn't have to sound like album. Dropp some of them tracks, add more grit to bass. Or get a Vogg copy from some bedroom hiding. Love him tho 🙏 just too much laptop trickery happening for the guitars. What impresses me still is that he is able to play so tight with the track. No mistakes at all. Incredible
@@MauroGiacomettiI understand it when it's orchestrals or sample stuff or some choirs. Possibly effects etc. But it's not the case with Decapitated tho. Maybe this is a subliminal result of this "over perfection" media culture where people fake singing/playing videos and most bands fix everything on albums. Drums are basically like midi written/drum machines etc. Give us back the riot in metal 🙏
Vogg is the greatest metal guitarist on the planet. He has everything you look for in a great guitar player. His right hand is so locked in. He writes incredibly knotty riffs too so his fretting is next level too. The music he writes too is so technical yet it sounds so accessible. Which is the hallmark of an artist who exudes style, and who is a master at their craft. All hail Vogg!!!
I understand this was apparently someone else filling in on the drums? Can't really blame him then, but unfortunately it did hurt the overall feel of this performance quite a bit.

Their last Album was a complete masterpiece. Absolutely brilliant!!!! But sorry they sounded horrible and would be personally embarrassed to post this on you tube. The drummer kept losing his tempo and looked completely awkward behind that kit . The guitarist looked like he was the only band member and the rest were a bunch of executive suit and tie businessmen with fake blood poured on them. The concert is not mixed for shit.. Disappointing live performance.
Although I consider this band to be one of the best I've ever heard, I have to agree with your criticism. This concert, at least here on YT, is terrible. Everything you wrote fits. I would also mention the singing... I would hang the sound engineer naked upside down by one leg in the draft.
My understanding is the new drummer had only a month or so with the material but I could be wrong. Not sure if this is the same guy who plays with Svartidauði (according to Metal Archives). Svartidauði is similar in style, but not as fast or brutal. TBH, he looks and sounds more like a session player they may have hired to tide them over. I'm thinking the monitoring was also less than ideal and he likely wasn't playing on a click either. As for the band image, I never really understood it. I suspect they all have "day jobs" in public view (aside from the guitarist) LOL. The singer runs a recording studio in Iceland, but that doesn't really mean anything one way or another. But you are correct... Algleymi is a pure masterpiece. These guys are one of my favorite post-BM bands because of their aggression, vocal tone and the soundscape that they play in front of.
