The two city employees that they made the settlement agreement are two African American that was terminated because they claimed the other workers were afraid to work with them.
Memorial Day is not supposed to honor Veterans. It's about remembering those who could never become Veterans. A Veteran is a Soldier who was able to retire from the Military. Those who died while serving never got to retire.
Speaking truth to power...nothing more American than that! Bravo to these residents for standing up for Summit! EVERYONE should watch every minute of these public comments.
Bullying, bluster and indignation are the weapon of choice of hypocrites when their agendas are exposed. Disruptive behavior is their calling card and only weapon of choice.
“I believe all voices matter and have a place in our community where they feel safe, respected, and heard.” Unless they’re less well off and would like to live in Summit. I’m glad Mrs. Allen publicly supports some DEI efforts on her public socials though 👏🏽
Regarding the Homelessness issue, it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. But it's still not Good. Rather than keep raising Property Taxes to fix something, efforts should be made to drop them where they can. It was in 2022 that I retired and went on full Social Security, Not too unexpected, but my rent was just under half of what I was getting via SS. But then in July, my rent suddenly went up because Property Taxes were raised to where my SS became more of a burden because now my Rent was more than half of what I was getting. Fortunately at the end of the year, my SS payments increased enough to where I was back to where I started where my rent was under half again.
Regarding the Maple Street closure, as said it worked for the State of Emergency. But as a casual closure, it did not. The traffic Light at Springfield and Maple was never adjusted to work effectively, as the light signals were unchanged. Vehicles still had to stop for half a minute even though there was no opposing traffic on Maple anymore. If you close it, then adjust the lighting to comply with traffic and what they are allowed to do and what they cannot. Do it right, or don't even think to do it at all.
Also with regard to Pedestrians, Sidewalks should not be cut minimal to only a 4 Foot wide walking path where only one person can get by. That is totally selfish on the City's part for the sake of Everyone's Health and Safety.. Close another area of the roadway instead and adjust for traffic flow, not the sidewalks.
The consequence of Trespassing brought up by Mr. Vartan (by way of Mr. Minegar) nearby the 55 minute mark has to do with being expected or invited, not just by showing up at random (Door Dash, Amazon, and others like that are expected deliveries by the Property Owners, just like the Mail). Trespassing occurs when you were never expected or invited to a residence in the first place. Mr. Minegar made that happen for himself where he arrived at a property uninvited and was told to leave. Instead he chose to video document the encounter and and brought trouble to the one who told him to leave in the first place. While having his phone knocked out of his hands multiple times, Mr. Minegar chose to stay anyway. Thereby by then, he WAS Trespassing. He could have simply picked up his phone after the first time and left and walked away from then. But he did not. Fred Clemens
A Mic check prior to the meetings should seriously be considered. Much of the earlier audio could not be heard at all. Instruct the Council Members to speak into their microphones after having them set to the proper level beforehand, vocally and positioned.
This is an example of how NOT to present updates for a proposed massive development! Common Council should be ashamed - this was a 6.5 hour meeting in a crowded room with poor audio quality and information on tv screens on side walls that were very difficult to see. We deserve our promised Town Hall meeting so all of Summit’s concerned residents can have their voices heard!
