is dedicated to making you a better player & exploring Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
Regardless of if you are a new player learning the foundations, or an experienced tournament player seeking the competitive advantage, you’ll find something here on AoS Coach… so why not subscribe right now.
You'll find interviews with the world's top performing players on all of the factions in the game talking about their lists and tactics so you can learn from their experience. Most of these interviews are live so you can get involved and ask question in real time. I also preview relevant products, recap tournament that I attend, Hobby hangouts, and more.
If you’re wondering who I am... my name is Anthony, I’m based in Australia, and I’ve been playing Age of Sigmar since the beginning. I play competitively in tournament as well as run my own major tournament every year.
i love the gargants, and they are my fave army, but ive lost almost every game ive played with them. they are easier to kill now, dripping to 10 control score after just 15 wounds is too much. they loose 15 wounds before turn 2. i think they need something that replaced their terror rule from last edition. shutting off auto passing bravery tests was so good, but now bravery isnt a thing, they dont have a "oh a scary monster" rule anymore. the as you mentioned, the gargant charge is terrible now XD shouldn't be a rampage. also, now their is even less reason to take kraken eater, as now if he kicks an objective to a new zone, it still counts as being in its original zone. and with more limitations. think it will get seen even less now.
excellent content! great insight into how a top tier player looks at he game, list building, tactics and just what it takes to play at that level.....think i'm going to stay over here with my narrative lists and hordes of tzaangor. Fingers crossed for new tzeentch minis (looking a you, pink horrors) with the new tome!!
A bit confused on the comment on the exalted flamer not being recurrable - you get a replacement unit with half the number of models rounding up. So you can bring back an exhalted flamer, or burning chariot, as half of 1 rounded up is 1. Edit - removed my comment about the spawn, as it's no longer relevant as of the update.
I played few matches with tzeentch and In my eyes the battle traits are super weak. You can have matches were you always roll a 1-2 and the burning dissapears without any dmg. Compared to nurgle this is just weak or I missed something. Also i dont like the summoning mechanics in 4th at all. You are more or less forced to bring always a big guy with you. Best faction in my eyes is gitz or skaven who just spam units from their terrain, all other factions feel weak, specially Slaanesh
it is definitely a design miss that you dont want to activate the burning effect to keep your -1 to wound. i think its a fair tradeoff tho you get to apply -1 to wound almost on demand its nuts
Note on Place of Power. More than one character can activate it. So Brod and another Son. Then if you need to dispels or banish you can get it with more than one.
New Units? What is needed is a medium hero level character for Kastelai / Blood Knights on a Nightmare that buffs Blood Knights. Give us thebother Black Library Soulblight hero Nyssa Volari on her Nightmare with her pet Dire Wolver "Rend" running along beside her as a companion model.
My issue is there is no theme flavour for their rules. No cool play styles for Dynasties. If you are a Kastelai fan, then you get nothing cool other than Vhordrai and his buff is extremely short range. I really hope there will be more magic items for each of the battle formations. Very boring build options. Let's hope the battletome will add more flavour, but not looking good after seeing how little changed for Skaven.
Great video, as always it's a pleasure to hear what you think about AoS content. I'm finally starting my SoB army and loving both painting and watching battle report about them (they're one of the funniest army in my opinion). Concerning each gargant, I agree with everything you both said. If I could make a tier list, it would end like the one you did. The things I think could improve the army in a coherent way : => Titanic boulderclub (Warstomper) : how can this huge weapon can only be damage 2 ? I would have prefered to gain less attacks but having damage 4. It's still a mega-gargant that can reach between 20-30 meters. His weapon can't be the same damage value as a chaos warrior's. => I would have buffed the Kraken-eater's main weapon with one of the following options : 1) +1 Damage to the Shipwrecka club 2) +1 Attack to the Shipwrecka club 3) +1 Damage to Hurled Debris (could have been funnier if the mega-gargant use one of the cannon attached to his club) => The beast-smasher bonus and debuff should apply to Cavalry and Beasts to make it less situational (it would be totally coherent as many fantasy mounts are actually small monsters !) Loving this army, can't wait to play with it ! Thank you for reviewing this, you are one of the AoS RU-vidr I watch the most !
Or, perfect timing as I will be playing only my 5th game of 4th on Monday, but first with my Sons army. Gonna try king B, two megas, one baby and the Kruleboyz shootas
I won, had two megas left, he had four Griff-hounds. Thw bolt Boyz did not do that much damage, but they did offer a threat that moved his army more to my liking.
Was wondering your opinion on being able to use "Get Stuck In, Ladz" from 2 different warbosses on a single unit of brutes. It's not a passive ability and they are separate units but some of my friends say it violates the Rule of One.
The other day I was playing my friend and I charged into one of his screens and took a good few models that were between me and the obj, he pulled models from the back of the unit and then in his turn I made my little 3 inch shuffle around them and got onto the obj and denied him his game winning points
Thanks you for covering Ironjawz 💪 This review sounds similar to Gitz in 3rd before the new battletome dropped. Eg, play what you like and have fun. No matter what you list you play other factions are better. I wish we had ogor rules! Kruleboyz wipe the floor with ironjawz with their sneaky tricks.
@@imaprog the wording is strange in Waaagh. It reads +1 to hit for friendly ironjawz units (and not melee weapons), so I assume it would affect the whole unit. Another point with Goddraks ability is that the +1 to hit is in effect until the "start of your next turn". So the effect of the +1 to hit may last longer than the Waaaagh ability itself. Happy to be wrong with this one, but that's my understanding of it.
"Weapon does not get bonuses from friendly abilities that affect attacks" it says on Companions. So I guess because Gordrakk's ability does not mention weapons it affects companions then? I wonder if that is intended, other abilities like all out attack explicitly state that they affect companions. Seems inconsistent... Gordrakk would really be nice with big pigs if it is true tho!
I'm enjoying my Ironjawz. 40 Ardboyz have been in my winning lists. Counter charging Ardboyz into a unit that charged me and then punching with the shields is fun.
I’m a little late to the party but I would expect to see points hikes in the first update. Even though DoT and SBGL winrates are under 55%, they are both close to it in a world where two armies are over 60%. If they were to nerf LRL and NH but not touch DoT and SBGL, both of them would just take over the power vacuum. The balance team for 40K also thought like this in the first major points update where they essentially toned down anything over 50% so they wouldn’t just become the new eldar. Furthermore some units are just out of line for their points cost. Dire wolves are a great example of this. Lightning fast, super wound dense, and recursive at 140pt, they are just the best pinning unit in the game right now. Combine that with death stench they can actually do damage. We’ve already seen this build do well, won the first big GT of the edition, and people are continuing to do well with dog spam. This is just one example but there are countless units that, mathematically, are undercosted compared most other units in their respective roles in the game.
Thanks all. I appreciate the insights. Haven't tried double gouger yet. Curious what the feeling is on big grikk as a ranged option that also helps deal with opposing centerpiece issues?
