I just inherited my grandfathers 1992 100 with the 2.8 and 5 speed manual what a enjoyable car to drive had a 86 5000s in high school the 100 reminds me of it but in some ways better
I think it's the same person narrating this Bentley video, but he speaks slower ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KYSdmy0-nSA.htmlsi=_vhgi3t7lIidVwTg
I remember that Auto Motor und Sport didn't publish the results of the (new) Audi 100 back then so that BMW and Mercedes-Benz wouldn't be put out of favour. I read every magazine back then as a teenager. Today, as an adult, I have to admit: they didn't want Audi in the premium class of German car manufacturers. Well...the German manufacturers have all become mediocre, Ferdinand Piëch has died, as has Fritz B. Busch. Greetings to Motor Presse Stuttgart. Even your TV format has become ridiculous. The only suitable person who understands and appreciates engineering is Alexander Bloch.
Yes, sickening snobbery, targeting the rich and implying that Audi's are above the average car better than your work a day Ford, GM, BL, etc, which of course they were in some important ways, not only fast, or only cheap, or only sexy, or just reliable, not only rustproofed but a marriage of several of these, but cheap nor economical to run were one of them! One advert claimed that at a steady 56 mph you'd get 750 miles from a full tank of petrol. That was rather deceiving as they did not tell us how many gallons the tank held! The petrol tank could have held two more gallons than most cars! I think the consumption was in the 20's and at 56 mph maybe only 24 mpg, but I could be wrong. It could have been fewer miles!😅 OMG! It's 16 to 20mpg (bigger, Imperial gal. Not U.S. gal.) That's brutal!... www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/1984_Audi_Quattro.shtml
“VORSPRÜNG DURCH TECHNIK” : The bio goes that it was spotted in a poster from the 1940's left on a wall somwhere pertinent in Germany and a now cellebrated ad-man named Sir John Hegarty of BBH remembered this and used it for Audi who accepted it. It is wrotten that the phrase directly translates as: "PROGRESS THROUGH TECHNOLOGY". As so often the case, when various people translate, you get varied translations. varies.
I love that in the background you can hear eurobeat like music, when i will get one from my dad i will find this promotional music and play it all the time. (for anyone intrested, its a 2 litre straight 5 10 valve ps engine, audi 90 b3 with mechanical injection this one has less hrsprs but more TORQUE so it accelerates faster than 2.3 litre version)
Any idea what the song's or the musician's name is? I've been searching for that rather sketchy tune for quite some time now, but for no avail… I know however that it had been used in a late 1980's German crime series („Hafendetektiv“). Still, finding either the artist or the song has proved quite tough.
Oh, you don't have the one I was looking for (the one where the driver stops at the Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart, gets out and says: "Britischer Architekt!"), but what a great, inspiring collection you have made! Mind you , it brings a certain nostalgia for the late eighties, almost like German _Ostnostalgie_ for the DDR, as I don't think it was a great time to be young and penniless, but the adverts highlight the most positive aspirations of the era.
Yo tuve la revista donde se publicaron las pruebas. El Mercedes fué el mejor, el 2º el Volvo y en tercera posición quedó el Audi. El Fiat fue un desastre.
