Hi Tom, I watched all 3 of the videos many and many times. Those guys with John Baker helped me a lot in barbel fishing. Since I watched those videos, I started to roll my bait for my barbel fishing. I know that.stretch holds big barbel, but be patient and do your "homework." At the end of the day, you will catch some.
@@thetreeoflifegardeningserv9590 Hi, they are fantastic films, i might watch some more. Ive finally caught a couple in the last couple of weeks which i have uploaded videos off! Took me a while but hopefully they keep coming now. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
Well done Tom stunning Barbel , made up for you. I think the fishing Gods were looking down on you when you were about to pack up. Keep up the good work mate all the best 👍
Congratulations on that barbel, proper minter, have subbed, come across from The magic of fishing who said about this video, looking forward to watching more of your videos, tight lines, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
@@markbristow3663 I was thinking about your comment quite a lot actually Mark hoping it would be true and it was! Lets hope the fish keep on coming 🤞🏻🎣
@@Nick-01536 Thank you Nick! It was a special fish. It’s nearly been a year now since i caught that 16lb. I may have to revisit the stretch where i caught it from…
What a beast 😲 Well jeal. That’s what you get for fishing into the dark when 4oz of lead won’t hold 🤯👏 Massively well deserved fella 🤩🐟 Great to see the mind blown emotion - you will still be able to remember that when your hair’s grey or fallen out.
@@themagicoffishing Cheers mate! It honestly doesn’t get any better - after catching last week, right before i was going to pack up and then it being a good double. I’ll definitely remember that till i’m grey and old 👌🏻🎣
Congratulations! Now you've caught your first many more should follow. It took me a season before I caught my first on the Thames, now they come regularly. 😀
Get in! Couldn’t have put it better myself 🤜 I’m proper jealous, too, as I’m yet to manage a Thames barbel (not been trying too long but know enough to understand it’s not easy!). Nice work. The great thing about starting a RU-vid channel is also that you get to record and save magic moments like this 😎
@@themagicoffishing Cheers mate!! It took long enough! Really have to put the work in to find them. Exactly, John. It’s the main reason why I’ve started and I cant wait to show more moments like this 😁
Being on the bank and seeing nature, wether it be a kingfisher, deer, snakes, voles or a cheeky little robin etc... make the session a little bit special for me. Flood water levels on the stretches of the Nene where i fish have dropped considerably,so i'll be out this weekend after a chub or barbel.
Keep up the good vibes and your so right it’s great being on the bank enjoying fishing and remembering great times with your grandad and could tell your grandad was with u in spirit and the little robin was a good sign. Look forward to your nx vid chap 🐟🎣👍
Well done Tom. You hit the nail on the head when you said that you think about nothing else when your fishing. Its not just about catching big fish, just getting out in nature is what people should do more. All the best mate keep plugging away with the videos. 👍
@@woodsman2433 Hi mate, it’s definitely a form of meditation, and like you said, just getting out in nature is what people need to do. Thank you for your comment 👍🏻
@@tomflambe2024 the other day i was thinking, if i was to move to another country then i would miss our rivers massively. They are lovely. What fishing do you do over in Canada?
@@RoveWithTom There’s actually an abundance of wild carp our here in the warmer parts. Apart from that, bass are the go to species for everyone. Plenty of Pike out here too.
My advice on the barbel is finding a fast bit of water as they like abit of flow , and stick to standard halibut pellets as they really are the most productive bait other than luncheon meat in my experience and opinion. Tight lines.
@@ForeverAngling standard halibut pellets were all i ever used when i use to fish in North Yorkshire. Because this is a new stretch and trying new swims i thought id try new things. But you are right, i think i may just go back to them. Tight lines too.
@@themagicoffishing Hi again John, thank you for the kind comment and subscribing! Love little sessions like these. Gonna be targeting Pike over winter which I’m looking forward to 🎣
Keep plugging away, mate. I've only recently started fishing the Thames and have found it hard work (for bigger fish) so far. Hopefully some better conditions and windows emerge through the autumn.
@@christopherguy4327 it can be hard going cant it. I used to fish the swale at Topcliffe, the Bradford Association stretch. Had some good barbel out of there. Keep at it too mate 🤞🏻
Hampton court used to be good especially in October. Also cigarette island in sunbury by the wier pool, very good in the summer. You also need to time it right. I learnt there is no point in fishing in the day. The barbel on the thames rarely feed in the day. I caught 99 percent of my barbel 1 hour before it got dark and 2, 3 hours after dark. So focus on these times. Thats why i found barbel fishing good in autumn as it gets dark early. And another thing is the weather. Again like day time there is zero point fishing fir barbel unless its cloudy and mild weather. It akso helps if the river is a little muddy and coming down after rain. Barbel fishing is not as hard as carp fishing if you fish the right time and conditions. Barbel arnt fussy with food either. Luncheon meat and pellets always works.
@@oman9492 Hi Oman, thank you for your comment. Barbel have come out in the day here but i know what you mean, its tough going. Yeah a positive is that its getting dark earlier. Will be doing more evening sessions after work so fingers crossed 🤞🏻
12lbs river bream 😮😮😮 thats a cracking fish, well done with that one 👍👍👍 I fish the Nene in Northants and i know the stretches where the barbel are caught,in the club I'm a member of but can i bloody catch one....nope !!! Personally I'd keep fishing below that weir rather than the slower water, you're more likely to catch barbel there and chub. Try maximising your chances with paste wrapped around your lead or around the pellet. Don't give up,im sure you'll get one 👍👍👍 I've liked and subscribed.
@@Nick-01536 Hi Nick, thank you for your comment and thank you for subscribing! It can be very frustrating putting in the hours and not catching but thats fishing and theres always something that keeps us coming back to it! To be honest the last 3/4 weeks have been tough, im currently fishing as i type this! Hopefully after all this rain it will liven up. I will definitely try the tactics you have given me. Keep trying on the Nene, all it takes is the right place at the right time.
I’ve just joined up where your fishing hoping to pull a few out on that section , I’ll give u a few tips if I see you on places to catch barbel in the Thames
@@ScottStraw-h2l Hi Scott, that would be great, thank you 👍🏻. Looking forward to seeing you on this stretch. Iv only seen a couple of anglers the last 2-3 weeks, its been tough. Hopefully after all this rain it will liven up again.
