I ordered the wrong part from RockAuto and they offered to refund me (even though it was my error). Rock Auto does not have free shipping but realistically, nothing is free and they all have to make a margin to survive. It sounds like Parts Avatar is a good outfit.
I had a 65 Pontiac C.S. (Custom sport), It is just like a impala S.S.. Consul badge and other C.S trim is not produced and costly. Most people do not even know about it's existence as a option in Canada. I restored modified my 65 S.S. impala ( built in 64) with it's part's Gave the unneeded body and "trim junk" to a guy who had a fake one. Hope he put it together by now.
Watch out for the parts avatar warranty. If you order something as soon as it's opened even if it's a warranty junk part you can't get money back and you have to pay for the replacement up front then pay the back shipping on the part then they will decide if it's warranty. I found this out on a $850 dodge steering box that went in the trash
I have a mk6 jetta TDI and just tried to install. Radio powers on and receives FM and bluetooth, but there is no sound. I have a Fender Soundsystem. I dont know if there is any help you can give.
I have always found RA to be cheaper... I just now checked PA for a radiator I need for my G8 - OSC brand $275.11+tax =$310.87... RA- OSC brand 187.74 +53.91 shipping and 31.41tx = $273.06! I have ordered from both RA & PA over the last several years and not once had an issue with RA, however, making a core return to PA was a gong show and in the end I didn't meet the "return window" and ended up stuck with the core charge. After this video of false statements against a competitor I'm more inclined to shop Rock Auto.
I have been buying parts there for YEARS . If you are going to be your own parts guy you Also Need to good at Researching the Specifics for what you need . I always source the OEM with my VIN to get the correct part number First . Then I Rock Auto it . Surprise ! They are Not always the lowest and despite their Jingle says they have “All the parts your car will ever need” That is a Bald Face Lie . You HAVE TO shop Around for the best bargain ALWAYS . There are also times when OEM parts Are the only way to go , Such as sensors and Critical electronic parts and Modules . Common Sense , It ain’t so common anymore .
Sounds like you didn't know what to order. And the problem was you not rockauto. As I have ordered enough parts to rebuild two different vehicles and the only wrong parts I received were due to my mistake not there's.
Still leaks after two replacements. The surfaces were really clean and the groove for the gasket was practically drenched in brake clean any advice on how to fix
You can add a little RTV sealant to help seat it and prevent leaks in the future! It’ll add that little extra seal that’s missing or in case the seal kinks anywhere during install!
Having been in the auto parts industry for over four decades, I completely agree with Parts Avatar. Imagine customers buying the lowest end parts possible, then claiming a defect (whether it legitimate or not) and then wanting a topline replacement under warranty. It has never and will never work that way. Good on you Parts Avatar for calling Scotty out! 😉
Ive ordered 100s of parts from rock auto never had a problem i always check google for cheaper parts and rock auto is ALWAYS the cheapest by far. Great ad for your company though buddy.
Are you some kind of shill for Avatar Parts? Case in point: 01 Grand Cherokee 4.0L heater core and a/c evap core- 87% and 84%(respectively) more expensive at Avatar than Rock including shipping- GPD exact parts compared. You got to be kidding me?? Your whining because you didn’t know how to order TDI parts- PERIOD!!!
I have been a Rockauto customer for more than 10 years and I have never had problems, they sell new things, with a guarantee and at a very good price compared to autozone and others since Rockauto sells at almost half the price that auto parts or Amazon sell, "Never Stop Buying from Rockauto" example Denso 471-1202 Rockauto sells it for $166.89 and Parts Avatar sell it for $246.75 usa dollar ,I'm not crazy about buying from Parts avatar
112 ups - 186 downs....I think you may have got this one wrong. I've had issues with RA once or twice, but they do in fact have the best prices. Only other sites I know of come close are parts geek and amazon.
I'm so pissed off and disappointed in Scotty. Scotty literally read word for word what the guy did and to expected ANY COMPANY, to not do a straight exchange or the opportunity to inspect the failure, is bull shit. Scotty approached that review with a Confirmation Bias. He did NO research before he starter flapping his gums, and SLANDERED Parts Avatar ! Re: buying on line. There is truth to there being shady business on line, but BRICKS & MORTAR with 5 start "Real" reviews is a great play to check out and get good pricing. Much respect to Part's Avatar. I'm going to send a friendly\Not friendly e mail to Scotty to do better. lol
I just bought some Castrol Edge 5w30 K from Canadian Tire for $55 per jug. Parts Avatar sells the same oil in 3 packs which works out to $71.81 per jug. A big discrepancy there. I did have a look at some rotors and pads on Rock Auto. Raybestos rear rotors 980113RPA and Centric rear pads 10309050. PA had the rotors for much less but the pads for much more. After calculating shipping and duty, Rock Auto came to $131.25 and Parts Avatar came to $114.14. Since learning about PA a few years ago, this is the first time I've seen them come up cheaper for the few times I've shopped at RA. Guess I'll keep comparing, deals on PA are out there.
Parts Avatar should do itself a favor and remove low end parts like FCS...absolute garbage from china...i've been fixing cars long enough to know u get what you pay for. While Scotty can be a loose cannon at times,i do agree its better to deal with a retail store than buying things online, you will be burned sooner or later when return shipping is more than the value of the part
Yeahhh I’m with everyone else lol that is not cheaper brakes and rotors I was looking at same exact thing full kit front and rear. Rockauto 200 something 50 for shipping. Parts avatar 460 dollars. Saaaame exact items. Might as well go with AutoZone at that point. But I’m mostly trying to figure out if these Rockauto brands are reliable and trustworthy especially for brakes. But I just got some brakes for another car have not installed yet. But they seem pretty good and don’t feel cheap so idk. So I’m just trying to figure out if it’s something I want to put on my car. But I might give it a shot. I want another magnet LOL that’s where they’re getting me personally.
Gotta hit the info and look at the pictures AutoZone was gonna charge me 87 dollars just for plug wires and wasn't gonna have them till the next Friday rock auto had the NGK plugs and wires both for 92 n had them at my house the following Tuesday
Had no issues with RA. I've had parts delivered to UK within 2 days. I ordered 2 front flexi brake hoses last Wednesday, and I got them last Friday ( June 21st ) Ordered front callipers and a power steering hose last Saturday. They came this afternoon ( June 26th ) I'll continue to use them. And they were cheaper.
I found rock auto cheaper and oem parts. Had a problem with two parts and within two days had new parts. I do not usually order economy parts. Never had a problem.
40 year mechanic, can't stand rock auto, basically non-existent customer service, no phone number to call, you strictly deal with emails, shipping if you have to return something is brutal even if it's their fault, way too much aggravation and most of the time inferior parts so I'm out.
Rock Auto is a great until there is an issue, then you're screwed. I've been using Rock Auto since they started. 9 out of 10 times works great. But increasingly regularly- the wrong part/ no part/ damaged part/ questionable counterfeit... Once the box was shipped and never was delivered... Neither fed ex or Rock Auto would own up to it. If I did the math, it probably evens out to cheaper than the local parts store, where at least they look you in the eye when they tell you to go pound sand. Shop around, sure. Product price is not the whole story, and Rock Auto is Not All That!
