For those of you struggling with the last room and may have lost Johnson I have a little guide based off a few of the other comments so props to those guys. -As soon as you exit the elevator, run to the right side under the catwalk melee that small box out of the way so you can lunge at elites when they push you, the elites will be firing at you heavy. Stick hard in the corner and wait for one to push you, he will most likely round the corner rather than running wide so long as you're backed far into the corner, if youre close to the edge of the wall, he might run wide or not round the corner at all, meaning you'll have to push out further. Melee finish him off. I've noticed that the plasma pistol melees way faster and is more consistent than the BR. -Once he's dead, run to the other side of the room and repeat the process, hide under the catwalk, melee the elite as he rounds the corner. This time there will be 2 instead of 1. Once you've killed one just do the same for the other. again, stick far in the corner so they round it. sometimes theyll drop off the catwalk above you so keep an eye out. You might have to shoot them to get their attention. Moving close to the edge of the wall and then back into the corner often prompts them to push you faster. -When they're both dead, head back to the right side of the room and hide under the catwalk again. This time the elite has 2 plasma rifles and likes to run wide or sometimes even run up on top of the middle part. You might want to use a sword if one of the other elites have dropped one, as you can melee much faster and lunge, however if you're low on shields, use the plasma pistol so when you backsmack him you get your shields back. He is pretty inconsistent and hard to kill. I died a lot to him. -Once he's dead, i used a plasma pistol to noob combo both of the remaining elites. Neither of these will push past the back of the room, but they will stray left and right. If you dont have a plasma piston, use a plasma rifle, crouch behind one of the small boxes and pick at them from afar, then finish with the BR. You can also melee the boxes to get closer and try melee them but this only worked for me once to kill just 1 elite before the other killed me and i tried it for ages, so I'm not sure how effective that is. - you can also shepherd them with grenades to lock them on the right side next to the bomb, and blow the big boxes away so they have no cover. When you said, "Kill Sergeant Johnson," I was like, "Bro, WHAT?" I never thought to kill the marines that you're supposed to be saving. I didn't even know they turned on you like that, either: shooting at you and red dots on the radar. Can you skip killing all enemies on the right side if you do it first or second, like you did with the left side? The middle only has one dropship, but you skipped that and went right last. I think I'll try going right, left then middle or left, right then middle to see if that is faster. Thanks. Also, believe it or not, I tried this three times saving all marines like you're supposed to, and I got 22 minutes... ALL THREE TIMES... even while trying to go down different paths in the end. I was super frustrated. 😒
I want to attempt Laso, but then I watch this. I've tried slicing johnson on heroic or normal just messing around and it is very hard, for me atleast and I consider myself decent at Halo 2.
At the start where you run by and stop periodically to kill things, I was unable to kill them as in the video. However, I found out I could just run right by everything. Instead of killing the guy on the ledge in front of you, I just jumped down and hugged the wall to the right. Then, when the two forerunner turrets are on either side of the door, I just ran to the door and waited. When I tried to kill the turret I kept getting killed from behind by a knight. A bigger issue was that at one point later on my AI crew jumped into the warthog you use to get the mantis into the final area. It was nowhere to be found when I needed it, likely blown up. However, I found out that using a mongoose and parking it exactly as you did with the warthog worked exactly the same way 👍 Great guide as always.
My experience just now.. plasma cannon spawn: What’s worked for me to get the plasma cannon spawn is dying at the elevator where the two brutes come out. Let them kill ya, stand by a coil or whatever. For whatever reason, dying once seems to give me the proper load. However, the achievement did not pop for me. This is the 2nd time. I may go thru and try to get 3 kills a gun. I played on easy, with IWBYD & Birthday Party skull on.
Was looking forward to completing all LASOs and eventually all of MCCs achievments. After 30 minutes of struggling to get to the first checkpoint of Cairo Station, I give up. Its just tedious and annoying and somehow even less fun than normal legendary.
Thank you very much for the guides from how complete most of the missions to make it easier because I wouldn’t get to Gravemind without your tips and tricks really tough. I’ve got two Gravemind solo then I’ve got another player help me out and completed, but he said what the heck why don’t we just finish the game off he did it he was really good player seems like he was a laso player but he did spend an hour doing the elevator glitch because that is really hard to do. I can’t do it. My fingers are not really like that. What the heck we did it. I’m happy got this achievement Done now I’m going to try Halo combat evolve next
Greatly appreciate the effort that went into making this whole guide. Perhaps its because this is quite old and some things may have changed, but for some reason i consistently found enemies requiring more damage than they seem to in your playthrough. Like any time you mentioned a count of shots, 3 sniper rounds, 1 shot wraiths and hunters with lasers, etc. it always took more no matter how accurate I was. Only really messed things up when the ammo was needed for later, but otherwise was just a little more tough than expected.
Day 2 and 40+ tries later, elite refuses to get out of the damn banshee even when I get to eventually work and get the banshee to run into the spot i need it to go to. Additionally, i recommend you restart if there is no grunt to your left. If its empty and the banshee starts firing, it wakes up the other grunts who will immediately get on the turret and start shooting you. When you do shoot the grunt, make sure you're already in position and you kill it before the banshee gets to close and gets scared off by the explosion. If you don't get in position in time before banshee is too close then just ignore the grunt and he will look forward. But he will mow you down the second you crouch and then you have only seconds to get that banshee to get stuck, do the movements he describes and might... might... get into the banshee... again, if the elite ever gets out or decides to never get out.
I really gotta practice grenade jumping. With the 1000s of hours I have in all the Halo campaigns, I cannot get the timing right at all. The phantom has been despawning a lot for me lately. Maybe because I get there so fast? I don't know. I am pretty good at this game.
For the love of me I cannot pull of that rocket + grenade jump I usually launch myself away from the wall fsr, pray for me folks that I actually will pull it off
I cant get this god forsaken grenade jump work. I throw the grenades exactly at the same points and still the grenades go off at different times causing me not to get enough force
This guide was a huge help but I've never gotten such horrible checkpoints on the library before lol. I'd get a checkpoint every time I screwed up the infinite ammo glitch for the rocket launcher, even with grabbing the second rocket launcher it only dropped enough for one shot, so i had to just suck it up and only use the shotty.
My last attempt at this par score was on Heroic, and I had some 90k points with a 3x time multiplier when I got to the command room of the Covenant ship. All I had to do was double back, defend the Pelican, and finish the level. In that small amount of time, I watched my multiplier and score plummet from over twice the par score to 10k under it. Heroic isn't too bad, but I'm glad this guide recommends Normal difficulty.
I swear there's no logic to checkpoints in the Harbinger fight. I got one after the 1st wave and then no others. Luckily the first time the hammer chieftain showed up, I beat him and that wave.
I'd recommend filling your shields before fighting Escharum - it'll get you the achievement for beating him without fully depleting your shields if you do.
for anyone having trouble with getting the button combo to work, just try doing faster. I was able to kinda consistently get the brute to come with me, but every time i would just kill him. Make sure that if you keep killing the brute, just try doing it a little bit faster, and keep experimenting with the speed of the combo. (i was also on default controller)
FUCK: I died _after_ getting the final shot off. It even played the final cutscene of the mission and then put me back to the beginning of the level. I am so angry right now!!!
Strange LASO you have there. I was unable to kill elites down there at the Corvette with one rocket... You were! It's like you're playing not on the playlist and forgot to turn on Mythic skull.
Ive tried for 3 years off and on and cant get that 1st grenade jump. Im falling melee distance short 97% of the time and 3% i actually dont get the boost
6:32 When you say things like "pretty advanced" and "very hard to get the timing down", I cringe as I recall taking 50 tries to duplicate things you say are easy. 😆
"You're going to need to grenade jump again by throwing the grenade right here." Me: Oh okay sweet we just did the other one. "We're going to do a hammer jump as well so it will be a combined grenade jump and hammer jump." Me: [having already swapped the hammer for a shotgun before starting the process] :l >:l
7:03 the elites never leave in any of my runs, sometimes I get lucky and they move just enough to the left that I can nade run and bubble away from them. Its one of the major run enders for me. The second really big one is when your're at the mac cannon and enemies decide to move to the rock far up the left and stay there forcing you to jump down. Then they ofc immediately rush you... Last run I didnt get a DMR (probably fell off a cliff. No friendlies spawned and I had a marker way back in the map. Mission still worked, just became a lot harder so I got a 30 second decrease in time 🤣
I don’t think this was harder than T and R but man was it more annoying. Unlucky checkpoints, weapons disappearing, and chain reaction explosions. Couldn’t have done it without the guide, thanks Silver 🙏
Don’t let all the people complaining about the early jumps deter you from copying this run. I just put it in Easy mode and within 15 minutes I was reliably making all the jumps except for one of them after jumping the lava which I have to use a grenade jump for and I am not even good at glitches like this
A great skip for these bridges is you can jump on top of the cross beam 25:47 a walk across the whole thing taking out the jackal sniper here and elite leading to the next area is safe but not needed
