Hi there mate hope you manage to see this, just having watched this you look like a pretty good offroad rider and well experienced with it in the dirt. Myself and a couple of pals are looking to do the TET in Spain soon too and was wondering how approachable it is as fairly novice offroad riders? Would you say it needs a fair bit of experience, is it actually not that bad, or are we just silly thinking we can take it on? We've got some offorad experience, not loads, and well be carrying a bit of luggage with us. I'll be on an Africa Twin which is I know is quite heavy and is a bit unruly in the dirt but have done a couple shakedowns offroad with it. Appreciate any advice you could give, cheers!
Hello, doing these couple of sections of the TET Spain on the 790 wasn't as easy as it may look in the videos, and I wouldn't have done the later sections on my own. If you are going to be with a couple of other riders then you should be okay. What tyres are you planning to run??
Hey Jeff, i have not long come back from riding Northern Spain, and we used the "trans euro trail" TET app, and it was great. Free app to use as well 😁
What a steep rutty long climb at the start ! It's impressivd how you keep that good momentum, even passing ruts and rocks 👍 the 790R suspfnsions seems very efficient: which set up did you chose ?
It's just the standard recommended off road settings as per the sticker on the airbox, the only change that I have made is a slightly stronger spring to accomodate my weight and the luggage. I do have my suspension serviced every 12,000 miles which I think helps a lot.
Great video, visually Fantastic, at 24min into the video when you turn off and ride by the dam,any chance you got a location for it??? I'm gonna bypass bits of the tet and Try plot a route for the best bits as I'm short on time.....absolutely cannot wait to ride over that bridge and dam....

That section of TET is from the original version, and has since been removed, as the TET is now more central rather than following the Douro valley as it did previously. It is a great climb 👍
Hi Paul, thanks again for sharing. I know you have Motoz Adventure tyres, how long do you expect them to last on the ACT ? Also what is your average speed on the ACT (how many km and hours a day) ? I've riden the TET Portugal on my 500excf, but looking at your vids, I'm tempted to return for the ACT on my 890R.
I did just over 3500 miles on my last trip and the tyres have at least another 1000 left. I left my hotel every morning by 10 and was always at the next by 17.00, but then I don't hang around when I'm riding, and completed every day of the ACT as per the tracks. It is definitely good fun on the bigger bike 😎 I am just over 7 weeks away of returning to do the ACT Pyrenees again 🤣
@@AdventureRiderPaul thanks a lot. Maybe next year, going South on road to visit the cities, then returning North by ACT, probably 2 weeks. I'll deaw my plan 😁✌
Hi, thanks for sharing. I recently rode the TET Portugal with my 500excf. Seeing your video, ACT doesn't seem easier than TET !? ( May be no enduro challenging paths ?). Also wandering what tyres did you fit on your 790 for that ACT , and was it ok for traction ?
Hello, the original TET Portugal was quite easy on the 790 and I have done it solo. I did a couple sections of the new TET later in this trip and it was much harder (to hard to do when traveling solo). I used Motoz Tractionator Adventures, plenty of traction on the trails 👍
Well done mate! Especially the steep descent before the roman bridge. I stopped and checked the best route for my BMW R1250GS. Fully loaded, the last sharp right turn got me finally and I had quite some time to "enjoy" the wonderful landscape. :-)
For the majority no, however there are some shorter sections that are, mainly in the wooded areas, that certainly are and this can be quite deep depending on recent rainfall 👍
I'm off to Spain this September, staying In llavorsi right On the smugglers trail and spending 4 days just plodding around the local trails. The views and scenery look fantastic especially on these sections on the spanish tet,Nice one dude... can I ask what camera you used?.
even if you dont want to put exact locations in, a banner marking closest village/area you enter the lanes would be really useful. I know Derbyshire pretty well and even i was struggling to figure out where you were on some of them 🙂 happy trails mate,
Hi Gary, this was a circular route taking in some really easy lanes, starting and finishing in Cromford. I beleive that a couple of these are part of the TET 👍
Nice riding, did some of those lanes on Sunday & came across a couple of TRO's due to weather damage. If you fancy some company one weekend in the Peaks let me know.
Fair play for getting through that, when we got there the Spanish guys wouldn't let us pass. Bit of a pain but that part was all road so at least we didn't miss any tracks 👍🏻
For the majority they do, however some don't appear at all on the Garmin mapping, but are on either OFM or OSM maps (I switch between maps as required)@@ktmtravels3727
I must say, you're doing an exceptional job with your RU-vid videos. I stumbled upon your channel just recently, and I find it highly enjoyable and gratifying to visit. I eagerly await the opportunity to experience more of your outstanding work. Have an amazing week, and keep up the tremendous effort!
Hi, I only did the mainland part of the ACT, and none of that presented any problems for a bigger bike, and certainly nothing that would present anyone going solo with any problems.
Nice video Paul. I enjoyed the section around 8m 20 when it all gets a bit soupy Is this following the TET? I'm moving to the the Peaks this spring and looking for routes to get out on my Tiger 800xcx
