Thanks for dropping by my names Wesley (Wes) and am based in North Queensland - Townsville. Mainly land based live baiting, but do at times do boating, Kayak and other adventures such as drain fishing.
Yeah boys! I'm a new subscriber and live just around the corner from these drains and am kicking myself that I haven't done this yet. I've been down there for an arvo session but stayed out of the drains, hopefully I'll definitely see you there sometime soon. 🤙
@lennythevillenq welcome and thanks for the subb really appreciate! Can't wait to hear how you go... winter can be hit and miss but I will be uploading a night session there soon! Stay tuned
@@saltwaterfishingnq yep there are some silly buggers around, and we do have plenty of Crocs here and it's not good to see I've had a few scares in my 4mtr tinnie and don't let my dog run on the beach. Stay safe 🦈
Your channel lacks creative content it is that frigging boring. How to fish like a poustie malakia 101! Maybe trade your crappy kmart gear in at cash converters Kirwan they might swap you some knitting needles.😅🎉
@@saltwaterfishingnqwe will have to plan a fishing trip and cheers mate got a few decent trips planned getting married Saturday so boat and channel is on pause atm
@WolfPiggys oh I see, I have had people tell me they went during day and not got anything. Most times I'm either dawn or dusk on a outgoing tide. But it is best during the rain
Went fishing today with my mate got a nice 45cm jack went fishing on the other side of the drain you were fishing heard a massive boof inside there. Might have to go fishing with you sometime cant seem to get anymore barra😂.
They are great if they are clean i live on the back of the other lake next to it and i sometimes eat the barra and jacks from there have never gotten sick from it
@nozagravey5691 hey mate thanks heaps! It's funny you mention that alot of ppl think I don't lure fish but it's what I do while I'm waiting for the live bait to get hit. I just don't promote luring that much as my point of difference in terms of the content is live baiting other wise I'm like everyone else haha. But yes lure can and do work off the beach. I am doing a strand series soon and lures will feature in that! Stay tuned
I get accused of having too heavy a rig alot but I know what's in these waters around pallarenda so if a big species bycatch strikes i can handle it. In these videos im using a 10,000 Saragosa and 8,000 baitrunner So I tend to err on the side of tougher rather than lighter, in saying that a 4000 reel will still be the perfect all rounder. I recommend mono for the stretch, good for barra. The Ultegra and Makuro model rods are great with the join at the base giving even distribution of strength. You don't want to tough of a tip, you want the fish to load up on the first hit not have the rod snap back firmly. Length is up to your preference in terms of casting, I'd say a 6'6 is heaps Hope that rambling helped
Thanks for the reply much appreciated I tend to agree going slightly heavier makes the combo more versatile you never know when you might need a little but extra power an drag thanks again
Yea for me sometimes that's what the fishing is all about... just connecting with them and yes having fun instead of getting angry if I drop a big fish haha
I've caught barra there and one had no fight like yours took it home just to see what they taste like from there cut it open and it had a huge toad in its guts that turned to jelly
So sick bro ! got a good jack there on topwater a few months back been meaning to dump the boat in there and fish thaat edge out on ya right looks like some good timber along there.
