Isn't it odd that the date of the offence is stated as April 16th, 1942 (2:01)? Surely there would have been no ground action in Westphalia in 1942? Was this supposed to be a joke? Or did Terry deliver the line wrong? Actually about the only year that would make sense would be 1945, which would put it about three weeks before the end of the war in Europe (in which case presumably the court martial would be taking place after VE day).
Looks like DAT multi-tracking with PC in 1996. And Disney has shit like that also. Is this a privilege? In 1996 RAM load was enough for that video card. I bet the audio is still sitting on tape somewhere in 1996.
You can tell they are so down to earth they say that they like to drive the fast cars, make the beats chill and check out the girls. The music was far ahead of its time.
It was very original back then-something new. He was just being himself. It really shows that it doesn't matter what you use. Yes, you have tighter MIDI with those older computers-something Ableton could never do. Many folks are returning to older gear for that grime and hardware timing; I'm not surprised. The first time I heard of Photek was on the Astralwerks website back in the late '90s. I listened to a sample and then ordered the CD-back when you had to wait for music in the mail. His tracks were totally original. At the time, I didn't know how much he capitalized on it or how much he earned by doing it. When I first heard DnB, I thought it was a bit silly speeding up drum rhythms over ambient atmospheres, but somehow it just stuck.
To link things up, this has been sampled by Belgian artist Supreems on the title track of his LP (which is banging). @1:30 here turns into this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wZjR_WaHMTc.html&ab_channel=MajesticCasual
Source Direct is still my favorite d 'n' b artist of all time, and generally one of my favorite electronic groups of the 90s. Just an incredibly rare and original sound, and it hasn't aged a day. I remember playing Source Direct records at raves here in the states back in the mid-90s and people would go insane. I also just learned after watching this video that Joy O sampled this interview at the 1:30 mark on his track "Ellipsis".
