No problem. Only FBM. When I started 10 years ago I was only selling FBA, but now I prefer FBM. There were far too many headaches, expenses and constant changes with the FBA program.
I have two stores, both in Pomona, CA. One is on W 2nd St and the other is on E Bonita Ave. The Kobe book will be in the Bonita store, starting this Thursday.

Sometimes the photos are not correct on Amazon, so I wouldn't worry. I have yet to receive a return for a different looking cover. However, I recommend writing that the cover art on the CD you are selling does not match the photo on Amazon but the CD is the correct one.
Thank you so much, this is so helpful! May I ask -- I have about 30 quilting books. If it were you, how many lots would you break that into? They're very nice hardcover books with dust jackets and barely any use. Probably originally cost about $20 each, I was going to sell individually for about $7 each, but I'm leaning more towards lots because I'm an everything seller so it's hard to focus on single books. Should I put all 30 in a lot and make it attractive price-wise for a reseller (say 30 books for $100), or should I split them into maybe lots of 6 books for $40 each, for quilters? It seems like only a reseller would buy 30 of any genre, might be too much for even the most passionate quilter? Sorry, just hoping to get your thoughts as I'm allowing these books to slow me down and I need to generate some income. Thank you in advance.
Do any of the quilting books sell for $20+ individually on eBay? If not, then put them in a lot. Are they all general quilting books, or do some of them go into a deeper niche of quilting? If they are all general then you could do 3 lots of 10, 2 lots of 15 or 1 lot of 30. I would also see the kinds of quilting book lots that are selling on eBay and see how much they ar going for and how many books are in each lot.
Never seen those Middle Earth books before. I was big into Lone Wolf books growing up (RPG chhose your own adventure series) and they sell for pretty good money now, especially the later ones that had shorter print runs.
I wish I could switch over to FBM, but I'm just not set up for it in any way, living up sixteen steps to an extremely small one-person apartment. And, I feel like I'd need to take some kind of Fiverr or Udemy course on how to switch over and set everything up right-especially concerning all the shipping variables involved-as I would have absolutely no idea how to even start FBM.
You can rent a storage unit and put up some shelves to store the books. FBM is just listing the book on Amazon, having it go live within minutes, making sure you put the location of the book in the SKU, storing the book until it sells and then shipping it yourself.
I am a student and spend a lot of time at my local library and I realized I could sell the used books they have. I don't have much money I could spend $40 for books (each being about $1 or $2) Amazon requires a monthly fee to have a sellers account. Would you suggest I focus in on ebay? This is a great way to earn a little bit of cash while I am in school. But I am unsure where to start with low costs.
You do not have to pay the monthly fee to Amazon in order to have an account. There are two types of Amazon seller accounts. The free one will simply charge you an extra $0.99 per sale. That option is an easy way to get a feel for the Amazon selling platform. Also, it is free to sell on eBay. I recommend testing out both, and seeing which one works better for you, or perhaps both will work out. Both offer a free app, so you can look up books. Amazon is generally better for new books with barcodes and/or ISBNs, while eBay is generally better for older, rarer and more collectible books. With Amazon you will not need to take any photos of the books, but with eBay you will. You will need some mailers, packing tape and a printer as well for both platforms. The downside to FM is that Amazons frowns on Media Mail for cross country orders. This cuts into your profits if you havento ship Priority Mail on a low profit book.
I haven't had any issues shipping Media Mail with MF. The only occasional challenge is that Amazon will sometimes not offer Media Mail as a shipping option, which means I have to go to the Post Office to buy shipping.
They mostly originate from large thrift stores, such as Goodwill, Salvation Army, Savers etc. Some of the thrifts will sell them off in auctions while you can often find them from someone who already buys them from thrifts and then resells them to someone you like you who only wants a few at a time.

It depends on the books. Most used books are not profitable individually, which is why there is a learning curve to figure out the books worth looking up. Scanning barcoded books makes the process go faster, but looking up older pre-ISBN books with the eBay app takes more time. However, many of the older books can be even more profitable than the newer ones. The Gaylord box is the 4x4x4' box that is used to house and transport large quantities of books and media. There was a box company named Gaylord, from Illinois, that ran from 1986 until 2002, and invented that type of box so the name for those large boxes stuck until today.
FBA is a horrendous mess right now, at least for me, i.e. Pending sales over three weeks old; orders that supposedly were cancelled but are now showing zero units in any status (Available, Inbound, Unfulfillable, Reserved); books with zero units in any status that are still showing in Active Inventory; and more. And, whereas I have for the last couple of years gotten ungated on nearly every book, CD, & DVD I've applied for through the Amazon Seller app while sourcing in the store-now I can't get ungated on anything, including non-textbooks. All of this despite my still having a 100% feedback rating, zero Account Health issues, or any other problem that I know of. Amazon's Inventory Management team has to be the most incompetent group of workers there is, unless 100% of everything is now totally automated.
Thanks! If a book has a barcode and/or an ISBN I usually look it up on Amazon first, but otherwise use the eBay app. I have become pretty good at knowing which platform to look a book up on.
I have a huge box of Baby Einstein dvds that I'm afraid to sell even as 'acceptable-heavily scratched'. I should toss them. Those little babies have no sense of decorum!
@@510Books I learned my lesson the hard way. I used to list dvd lots of scratched discs cheap and then spend 90 minutes resurfacing...should have just tossed them because I hate to send out possibly bad discs for fear of negative feedback.
Several thousand in my first store and probably 5k+ in the second store. I don't know exactly how many I have in the second store, but when I bought the inventory the previous owner claimed it was 10k.
Some really quality Tolkien books there!! First time watching man. Im very new to adding books to my inventory. About a year now. Ive been really picky, and do alot of reasearch of what to look for....but there are just so many books its impossible to know em all haha. Here recently i walked into a goodwill that were hauling out 2 pallets fulllll of old books. They all came from a goodwill that shut down a few miles down the road from this one. 3 hrs picking through stuff. It really was a great time! I found some absolute gems. Only one lady came over to look. Besides that I was all alone. Left with around 35ish books. I could of grabbed more as there were certainly stuff to make money on....but it was goodwill so I was paying $2-$5 a piece. A few of the stand outs were 3 different HP lovecraft 1st edition 2nd printings which already sold for 150+ A couple The shinning 1st edition 2nd print, and like 8th ot 9th print. Salems lot bce (All red cloth) some very intriguing books on arizona trails that have maps of lost trails (these are pre 1950s) Atleast 10 really good bibles. A few survival books, and a couple cookbooks. A set of plant books one being the one you showed. Primo plant, and Psychedelic encyclopedia. Just whatever looked interesting I looked up....but I guarantee I missed some gems. This was obviously someones collection
Thank you. It's worth investing your time into researching older pre-isbn books. Most book resellers only scan barcodes and skip the older books, but if you know what to look for you can scoop up all of that vintage book profit. Keep learning!
The I.C.E. (Iron Crown Enterprises) Role Playing Game modules are a great pick-up. They were local to me here in VA (Charlottesville) back in the 80's. My very good friend did some artwork for them.
I like both. The sound of a tape popped into a VCR, rewinding it and listening to it play are unique and can transport you back in time. The smooth visuals of current technology can be mesmerizing in its own way.
It's absurd that companies throw that copyright crap on any of their used items online. I can understand trying to block items that are counterfeit, not blocking authentic items.
I think library sales can 100% accomodate resellers and non resellers. No scanners on first day and allow them on 2nd day. Knowlegeable resellers can still get some deals without the scanner, but at least it levels the playing field.
@510Books There are some Kens and Karens who have the FOLs' ear and probably scream to high heaven about resellers until they cave to the pressure. Also, the fee bad apples have an out sized impact on the experience of other customers with their obnoxious, agressive behavior. Am guessing that either due to legal reasons or the overly accommodating nature of FOL volunteers, they are reluctant to remove the bad apples, so just ban them out right.
@KatPing I have purchased tens of thousands of books and hundreds, if not more, have gone to LTLs, so... You've also bought tons of stuff you just gave away to thrift stores, where it was resold at a profit to the store, and much of which was purchased by resellers to be sold at a profit to those resellers.
