Saw them in a small acoustic venue in the Willamette Valley this summer. OMG. Stunningly gifted musicians, creative storytellers and funny. We immediately bought all three of their CDs. Their original compositions are favorite ear worms in my life.
Well, Gordon's still making great music. As I recall, his wife was a licensed mate on my Friendship Sloop years ago. When I got sick, she took over as skipper and asked him to go along as mate, and that is how it all began. Funny how some of us seem to have gotten older, but those two have not.
I never get tired of this music, and it always moves me. And I'm so impressed by the songwriting - Mostly Sober is as fresh, sharp, tored and vulnerable after 100 listens as the first time I heard it.
I always say if sound check is great, the show will be amazing. BTW: The audio on this video needs to be normalized. It is too quiet. Reach out, and I can fix it.
Nice job as always Gordon ❤ You wouldn't remember me, but I was an ER RN (now retired) at PBMC years ago during some trying times. Most recently, I was invited over to the house of a friend of yours, but fell victim to my own health issues. I always imagined an impromptu duet with you. I can be found on RU-vid under my stage name of Fezzy Pepper. My real name is Brian Alves and I live in Knox County. Best to you and yours, Brian
Finally!!! I watched you 2 at the Abbott church right after you got married!! I saw a flyer for you at my local grocery store! I forgot your last names.
Over 40 years ago, I heard Gordon Bok on PBS radio in Boston. Impressed, I bought the album, Bay Of Fundy (?). Blown away. Now, decades later, I get this concert. Thanks.
I've been a fan of Pete's for a long time now. I read somewhere that Stefan Lessard played bass on Hope in Our Hearts - so I checked it out and really loved Pete's melodies and authenticity. Oddly, I used it as my workout album for years. His rhythms are easy to bike to. He seems like a humbly good guy. Hope to catch him live one day. Keep it up Pete!
Saw him live at the Seagull when we were visiting Maine. He is absolutely wonderful! I'm sad I don't live closer so I could listen to him more often! Beautiful lyrics, beautiful playing and clearly a beautiful person! He does covers of other peoples songs that are so heartfelt that it brings tears to my eyes.
I got Paul's CD "Nights in the Gardens of Maine" many years ago and I still treasure it. These are brilliant pieces, reminiscent of Robert Schumann but carrying their own weight and creative importance. Thank you for sharing the video.
thanks you sir for your decades of stirring our hearstrings.?!!!!! I've been singing-performing your songbook since 70s. thanks for the great songbook time and flying snow. hard to get thru it with out many tears. bay of fundy days. can't this remembrance of the old whaling days. thanks my dear friends Douglas. SD CA guitars, viola, voice, organ piano etc.
And, if you're from Newfoundland. you would call yourself a New FUND lander and you were from New Fund land, not New found land. How do I know? I spent about 3 years there back in the 60's in the Seabees in Argentia , NF. Almost married one but luckily she had more sense than I did at the time.
Saw him at Ft. Mason, SF many many years ago when we were both young. Can you imagine a Gordon Bok concert with probably less than 50 seating and a full house? If you volunteered to set up the metal folding chairs you could see him for free . I did. And because I helped set up chairs I sat in the front row. Very intimate. I think he had a deeper voice back then.
