A lovely performance, but I must say that the correct lyric is "a land so *wide* and savage". This is not a pedantic point. Canada is a country (and my own country, Australia, is another) whose history and culture can only be understood in the light of it being a "wide" (i.e. geographically large) land.

Judy's voice is as clear and melodious as ever. The arrangements are so smooth and beautiful. It's one of my favourite tracks on Winter Stories album.

Thanks man, I'd love to see your trip with your E99's, you still have snow in your area? Its about to be gone here, maybe 1 week left. I'm 1 hr drive from Stavanger, Norway. And you?

@@jokkejens There is no video unfortunately. Took a few shots with my phone. Not much snow any more. I'm quite far up in the north so if I go up in higher areas there might be some runs but the snow is rotten. Have a brand new unmounted pair of E99's for next year. One lucky buyer will get the ones I used this season.

Impressive! Is it the E99 crown or the E99 easy skin model? 75mm three pin bindings or BC? Whatkind of boots? This is the way we (the dreamers) dream about going down the slope after finnishing a 50 km round trip that day. You look like a strong skier and that is ofcourse what makes it work. It would be interresting to hear the exact spec of you equipment though, just to get a sence of what is possible. Great vid!

Thanks for comment. Its the E99 Crown with 3 pin standard Rottefella bindings and I used Asolo leather boots without clamps. The boots are what makes it doable and "fun" albeit lots of work. The ski itself doesnt like to turn that much and its fairly slim, so I'd say you need snow on the soft side to get the flow shown on video. I just had a new similar trip, using Madshus Annum wider skis with Voile 3 pin bindings and Fischer BCX6 boots. I created a small not so impressive video. These boots have a very soft sole, so i could not really go any harder (wearing shorts) than i could with the old setup. The Fischer BCX6 is better for touring than the Asolo, but cannot be recommened for doing turns at all.

@@jokkejens Right on! I've been touring and doing some fairly aggressive (considering the equipment) downhill runs this winter. I also have the E99 crown 2019 model. They were really hard to get a hold of as it seams all the shops are pushing the easy-skin model and people are buying the idea and the ski. In reality, short skins only work when going uphill or hauling a heavy sled. They do not glide at all. The crowns glide quite well and in the right conditions - very well. I did a fast ascent/descent of 500 meters/1600 feet with the E99 crown and the Alfa guard advance GTX boots on Rotefella BC manual bindings. Snow was firm with 2-3 inches of warm soft snow on top. Worked insanelly well. Sprinted up, quite steep in some places and then rode down in big arching high speed turns, also fast. The crown is the way to go! I'm going to try and find your new video. You should put up a link. Maybe do a whole series of how hard you can rip and basically destroy the whole mountain on thin skis and soft boots! Although, I consider the Asolo as a fairly stiff boot in comparison to all the others today, Stetind, Svartisen, Alfa it can be done. Looks like you could do it at least. Rock on!

@@jokkejens By the way, would you care to comment on the 0:30 mark and forward. It doesn't look that horrendous, but it's hard to tell how steep it is there. White knuckle pole grip and death stare, or just a casual textile break?
@jokkejens
@jokkejens 5 лет назад
@@Thestripper1 Hahaha..yes basically a death stare..it was quite steep, and me coming out between those 2 rocks, I planned the next right turn, but it was too steep to see that there was no snow and a cliff drop right where I wanted to turn. So not having balls like steel and confidence on my E99's, I had to decide to just bail in the last second. You can see I'm still sliding even laying down, just to get a grip of steepness..Not 70 degrees maybe but close..:) This vid was same day in same area, guy filming from the exact same spot: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MyR_Jll8tms.html

Thanks! :) It was too steep to see where there was snow or not, so I had to bail at one point, I had no clue what that hill looked like. These Fischer E99 vids were mostly for fun on a nice day, but to show that you can actually have some downhill action on these skiis.
