Without the definite article the correct interpretation reads "a prince". The antecedent is Messiah to the pro-form "HE" in 9:27. The week is Passion week not the 70th week. The 70th week is the "consummation" in 9:27 that is still to come. Grammatically the consummation goes back to 9:24 the original time specification. Dan. 9:27 reads "and HE (Messiah) shall confirm the covenant (Isa. 55:1-3) with the many (peoples, tongues, nations and kings) for one week (Passion week) and in the midst of the week (Wednesday\Thursday Passover) HE (Messiah) shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease (it is finished) and for overspreading of abominations (40 years of continued animal sacrifices) HE shall make it (Holy City) desolate (void of Daniel's people) even until the consummation (70 th week) and that determined (time of the Gentiles) be poured upon the desolate (Gospel poured upon the children of the desolate; Isa. 54:1)".

This is Counter-Reformation eschatology designed specifically to destroy Protestantism, and that's exactly what it has done. A future 70th week of Daniel as taught in all the churches puts the arrival of the Antichrist at the end of time. But the 70th week of Daniel was perfectly and completely fulfilled by Jesus 2000 years ago. That allows for the early arrival of the Antichrist. The decree of Artaxerxes I went into effect after Ezra's arrival in Palestine in the early fall - or late summer - of 457 B.C. This was "the going forth" of the decree recorded in Daniel 9:25-26. What the commentator says in the beginning and all throughout this video proves that he is either purposefully or unwittingly twisting God’s word with severity. I will presume that he is sincere and doing it unwittingly, as so many others do who follow the false teachings that have been passed on through the generations by religious tradition. He claims that the 7-year tribulation begins when the antichrist makes a treaty with Israel. From where does he say that he gets the scriptural support for this claim? He says it comes from Daniel 9:27. But to use that scripture verse would literally be inferring that Jesus is the Antichrist. Why do I say that? It is because this is a Messianic prophecy, not a prophecy about the Antichrist. Here, I’ll show you. Let’s look at Daniel 9:27, from where this commentator and perpetuator of false doctrine claims the Antichrist and the 7-year revelation are revealed. “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” Daniel 9:27 Do you see the word “antichrist”, “man of sin”, “evil-one” or any other word that would suggest to us that this verse of scripture is referring to the antichrist? You don’t. There is not a single word referring to the antichrist. What about the phrase “seven year tribulation” or even just the word “tribulation” in this verse of scripture? It doesn’t say that either. The mention of a seven year tribulation is also mysteriously not mentioned in this verse nor any other verse of scripture inb the entire Bible. Why is that? Let’s put the verse back into context by rejoining it to the rest of the “time prophecy” that it is supposed to be connected with. It begins in verse 24. Everything that I am about to say is verifiable. First, we have to understand the one day = one year principle. All reliable theologians will agree that in Bible prophecy (and Bible prophecy ONLY, not all Bible scripture) one prophetic day = one literal year. Therefore, one prophetic week = seven literal years. We must also understand that “time prophecies” that are initialized by a specific beginning date and a specific ending date and they continue, UNINTERUPTED, until the time prophecy is completely fulfilled. It will be necessary to break this scripture passage down into parts as we calculated the weeks/days/years. What is this time prophecy for? It is a probation period of time and the reason for it is given in detail. “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon THY HOLY CITY, TO FINISH THE TRANSGRESSION, and TO MAKE AN END OF SINS, and TO MAKE RECONCILIATION FOR INIQUITY, and TO BRING IN EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS, and TO SEAL UP THE VISION and prophecy, and TO ANOINT THE MOST HOLY.” Let’s calculate the time. 70 weeks = 70 prophetic weeks X 7 prophetic days = prophetic 490 days 490 Prophetic days = 490 literal years Now it is important to understand WHO God gave this prophetic time to and WHY He gave it to them. WHO: He said, “Seventy weeks (490 years) are determined upon thy people (Isarel’s people) and upon thy (Israel’s) holy city (Jerusalem)”. WHY: “to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.” Is there ANYTHING mentioned in the list of reasons why this time is given to the Israelites about the Antichrist OR any seven-year tribulation? NO. This is a MESSIANIC prophesy about the coming Jesus. HE is telling them to stop sinning, “to make reconciliation for their sins”, “to usher in the everlasting righteousness of Christ”, to fulfill or “seal up the vision and prophecy” and to "anoint the most Holy (Jesus as the Messiah). In other words, “make straight the path of the Lord” who is coming. Next: “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.” There was only one time in history that the rebuilding of Jerusalem included the walls being rebuilt also. That decree to rebuild them was given in 457 BC. This took seven weeks = 7 X 7 = 49 years “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.” Jesus will come and be anointed by the Holy Spirit at His baptism. He will be cutoff (killed) but not for Himself, it will be for us. The Romans came after that in 70 AD with a flood (great army) and destroyed the city again. One score = 20 Three score weeks = 60 weeks and then we add the 2 weeks which = 62 weeks. 62 weeks X 7 days = 434 years 434 years + 49 years = 483 years “And he (the Messiah - Jesus, not the antichrist) shall confirm the covenant (the New Covenant - see Hebrews chapter 8) with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” One week = seven years 483 years + 7 years = 490 years From the beginning of this prophecy in 457 BC until the end of it in 34 AD = 490 years exactly. The last week says that HE (the Messiah) will confirm a covenant (the New Covenant) with many for one week, but in the middle of the week He will cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease. Jesus preached only to the Judeans for seven years to establish a Judean foundation for the church. As the Bible says, salvation comes from the Judeans. He did this with the help of His disciples. It was during the first 3-1/2 years that Jesus preached the Gospel and taught it to His disciples. In the middle of the seven-year period, He was crucified (cut off, but not for Himself). When He died on the cross as the Lamb of God, once and for all sin, He caused the sacrificial system to cease. There was no need for that typological sacrificial service any longer. The covenant that He confirmed was the new covenant that was ratified with His blood. That last 3-1/2 years the disciples only preached to the Judeans as Jesus commanded. This time-prophecy was completely fulfilled when Stephen was stoned to death. That is when they began actively preaching to the Gentiles. They laid the garments of Stephen at Saul’s feet, who became Paul, the Apostle of the Gentiles. “But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, ‘It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, LO, WE TURN TO THE GENTILES.’” Act 13:45 & 46 That is why the teaching about the seven-year tribulation is a hoax of the devil. In Matthew 24, Jesus says that there will be a tribulation, but He does not say how long it will last. He does say that if those days are not cut short by His coming, then NO flesh will be saved. It also says that “IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TRIBULATION” we will see the sign of Jesus coming in the clouds and at that time the rapture will take place. THIS WILL BE THE END OF THIS WORLD. When Jesus returns, this earth will be destroyed, and no one will be left-behind to be offered a second chance for salvation. I would recommend to all that they should search the Bible for the scriptures using terms like “end of the world” or “the end” for further clarification on these matters and their timelines.
