Found out today it’s the parts we have of this that is the only part of this film left online, since the full version was taken down! This is a treasure that should be archived and I’d like to thank OP for letting us see it!
There was a blooper that I remembered from the second part of this video where at the beginning of the "Popular" scene, the beds didn't come out on time, but when they did, the actress playing Glinda ad-lib the line "Oh look, a moving bed!" I don't know if you still have that audio for someone else does.
Transcription of Kristen's ad-lib because it's hard to hear: "I wrote a book: 'How To Be Popular.' Now, I've put together a top ten list of how I'm gonna help you. - Elphie, every day... Shower. Who knows? Maybe some of that greens gonna come off. - Deodorant, Elphie. No one likes a stinky witch. - I think we've covered the hair, we'll get to that. - Clean underclothes.... That's all I'm gonna say. - Look at your posture! That's no way to be popular! - Bed made, room straightened, we've done that. - Colors blended... But the most important thing to have to make yourself popular is to keep your beautiful smile."
Kristin ad-libing with her book during "Popular" was a joke that she and the crew all knew about. Idina was the *only one* who didn't know it was going to happen. It was during Kristin's last performance in Wicked and Kristin wrote the book with the only objective of making Idina smile and laugh.
Really funny film but agree the ending is very sad but fitting...... for those interested a short tv play of this story was made by London Weekend Television in 1971 with Ronnie Barker in the lead role and David Jason first doing the odd job man part.......
I actually don't like it. I mean, obviously, she's happy. We know that. But in my opinion the English verion is much cooler by using the word "wicked" to tie in with her label as the Wicked Witch (and also the name of the show) and all the meanings that it contains for her character; like now she's finally "accepting" it so to speak and using it in a good way but also with sexual/romantic undertones or whatever? Ya know, in this scene they kiss after that line and the whole audience goes "Oooooh!" Like it's a whole moment. Whereas the Japanese version is too...stating the obvious? Dumbed down? Doesn't fit the mood? You lose a lot of the double meaning/word play stuff that makes the English version cool. ~:~
I'd love to see this in better quality. I really liked the novelization by Bernard McKenna and Colin Bostock-Smith so I ordered the film on VHS. It was an official copy, but the quality was about the same as it is in this youtube video.
To be honest, I don't think Idina laughed at Kristin's last FOR GOOD. I think she was just trying to hold back from crying herself and it came out like a laugh sound. I think it was more of a choking up sound...

4:54 The look of the actress and her clothes in this scene reminds me of my favourite schoolteacher (Frau Inge Hofmann) in the late 70s or early 80s. She was a young teacher in the time and often wore clothes like these (brown blouse, white skirt and brown leather boots). But fortunately she was not so hysteric like Diana Quick in this movie :-)
