I am optimistic that Ole Miss, highly rated in 2024, will emerge as a dark horse in the playoff and knockoff an Alabama, Ohio State or Georgia. The later two are heavily favored to win it all as if we should just mail them the trophy while the rest of us play for 3rd place. Seeing the same elite teams year after year is boring.
There's nothing "darkhorse" about Ole Miss. It has national championship talent and coaching. Will they live up to expectations is the question. I agree with you that seeing the same teams at the top every year is boring. I think it will be better now that there is a real playoff instead of a 4-team monopoly.
I have a lot to say about this so apologies for how long it is. I personally think that Hailey should’ve stayed at LSU, but she should’ve tried to see if she could practice with what she learned from Louisville a bit more. I didn’t know that she was technically a PG at Louisville, so most likely the way that LSU trains for the PG role is much different. If anything, she could’ve talked to Coach Mulkey and some of the staff to see if it would’ve been possible for her to train for the PG role using a mixture of LSU’s method’s, and what she learned at Louisville. I don’t think would’ve been a bad thing for her either as trainer student, being that so many student athletes from these major universities have hit the transfer portal since 2023, and I’m sure they use the skills that they learned from their old universities at their new universities. I truly feel like she was being used by those who highly dislike LSU due to last year’s national championship. LSU received so much hate over winning last year, and then celebrating their hard earned win (for obvious reasons) so a lot people online who were mad over it, needed an excuse to further try and discredit the team, and to “prove” some type of point as to the team being the villains, causing them to use Hailey as that excuse. Even when it was announced that Hailey was going to LSU, she had people on her IG questioning her about it like as if LSU was some horrible team even though they won the national championship last year, and why wouldn’t we all want her to play on a team that has actually won it? People were making it seem like LSU was absolutely horrible for her, now yes she didn’t have the best season but….I feel like she could’ve had a good season if she had trained using both LSU’s methods, and Louisville’s methods. Hailey is a different type of dawg and beast, and regardless of where she plays she always has that killer instinct. I just wish that people would stop trying to bring up last season to her in her comments as a way to hurt her, and to shade the team. Hailey moved on, the girls moved on…..that Iowa game was months ago, the season already ended. Anyone at this point anyone who further tries to bring up LSU in regard to Hailey just to shit on the team….it’s clear that they didn’t even want her on the team for one real reason.
I’m rooting for Hailey to have a great season this year and make it to the WNBA next year. She had a down year with LSU but she clearly showed that she has a lot to offer.
