"Resisting the slow touch of a frozen finger tracing out my spine, I showed him how that this figure must be a deception of his sense of sight, and how that figures, originating in disease of the delicate nerves that minister to the functions of the eye, were known to have often troubled patients..."
I admire the work and planning that went into this. Many people dream of creating art, but it takes drive to get a product finished, so well done. My curiosity led me to listen to the portion of the television clip backwards. Is that Welsh? (I am guessing because of your surname ;) )
I've been trying to classified The Signalman for some years, now. QUESTION: A phantasm is the "ghost" of a living person, living in the present (otherwise the person would be dead); the "ghost" the signal man saw was the train operator's phantasm; however, this "phantasm" was from the future! So, was this a story about some sort of time clairvoyance or quasi-phantasm of the living? Can phantasms travel through time? If so, then the 'phantasm" from the future is not the phantasm of the present signal-man. So what is it?
StruttinSuccess I myself think that the signalman, unbeknownst to himself, simply had the ability to foresee the future, only in the most extraordinary of ways (seeing a ghost that does/says things which will happen in the future). The Signalman just didn't know about this ability, and even if he would've known, he still couldn't have interpreted the spectres actions and warnings, thus he still couldn't have done anything to prevent the accidents including his own death.
Mr. Roberts your work is excellent. If you made more such movies youtube would benefit. I suggest the yellow sign or another scary story/weird tale from the 1890's or early 1900's.
