I have bought Annie Jacobsen's book. I am impressed with her way of writing. I have studied nuclear war scenarios for decades. I already know what she has written is true. But I ask her this question. She has said Australia NZ and I added Argentina is safe. I ask this critical question about Australia. Also though, it does put in perspective how we’re basically making Ukraine fight. “You vote with your eyeballs” is such a curious thing to say back then when now “attention” really is the currency, as I type this on RU-vid social media after skipping through about 10 ads during watching this.
So hard not to respond to these old, negative comments that call out bad things the government has neglected, without any full perspective of not only the complexity of the system, but also without knowing what else is being worked on to solve these problems. It is just such a pessimist attitude combined with an uninformed arrogance - or ignorant arrogance, rather. The whole ‘hate the system’ but ‘don’t have a way to realistically fix the system’ particularly when the current system is the best humanity has ever created and the best currently on the planet. They are all emotional knee jerk comments and sure, express your feeling and pain, but man do we need more critical thinking in the country right now.
It puts an interesting perspective on our national debt. Because yes it is a lot, but god damn, apparently we have SO MUCH MORE than anyone knows to be sold. SO much more value and IP than anyone realizes. Makes you a bit less terrified by it all.
This is fascinating. I wish I went STEM and worked for DARPA. All the good and all the bad asides, you can’t have one without the other, you can’t argue the elimination without data on what that would produce or blueprints showing you have a legitimately better idea; without, the argument again them is empty.
We can always *only* do better. We can always only make mistakes and learn from them. So it can be great that people call out the bad - we need that. But the staunchly against agencies or governments as a whole, even though they’re speaking to the government that, to date, has done the most good even with all the bad, still the most good. Maybe someday there won’t be mistakes and people overlooked and damaged, but only if we recognize that we are good and trying for the best.
Before you point out the bad - yes exactly! Don’t be arrogant; look at the whole picture. It is like a human has dark and light. So does any organization run by humans. People just need to understand that and get behind government again or we’re all fucked.
