My son and I just used this to replace my cable😊. It was very helpful. That little clip-on frame under the truck was a pain. It was 10 bucks at ford and I am glad I ordered it as it was brittle and broke on the end. Probably could have used it but my advice is go ahead and get it when you get the cable.Crazy thing is the part from ford was only $10 more than from autozone for autozones cheapest and was $20 cheaper than their expensive one.

My steering locked up and had no signs till it just happened one day after a rainy day. It’s super hard to turn steering wheel in any direction so you Think it could just be a rack and module

these cable piss me off... dumb ass engineers that came up with where to run it and no fix to prevent the melting of cable, that heat tape you pointed out is worthless. last cable I put in had that as well, I even cut a beer can top and bottom off and rolled it to protect the cable but that must have slipped down in the last year since my shifter is super stiff right now to move... I am going to be replacing my 3rd one in 5 years since the first OEM failed. I will be using up some old header tape and a lot of aluminum foil to hopefully save this next one.

Can this problem come and go, based on maybe outside temp? I had this exact issue, had an appt with my mechanic, and boom, problem gone. It was warmer yesterday, and tonight, its colder and its back. I have a 2014 Explorer Sport.

Yes I found this to be true with mine. I’m picking mine up in an hour. Not cheap. $750

@@ronbuda44 it's insane. Mine was $985 Canadian, so pretty close. For a 12 inch shaft.

Sorry I didn’t get back sooner, I wouldn’t say 4 hours. Depends on your skill level and what tools you have. But with a basic set and common knowledge I would say 1-2hrs. Sorry again for the late reply.
