I'm a mature student who wants to become a primary school teacher with QTS. I'm going to do my 4 year degree with Nottingham Trent University than University of Nottingham. I like the modern study environment, the student feedback is higher within all aspects of their journey, giving that this Uni is not russle group. The only difference is I'm not an A level student. I'm an Access course student who has achieved top grades!
You have a point given you could get into medical school with 3 grade Es in your A-levels back in the 1970s if your father was a doctor ( 3 grade Bs needed for everyone else ). But medical students who opt to study at universities non-medical employers look down at or have never heard of need to be fairly certain Medicine is what they want to do careerwise. Eg. Non-medical graduates who study at universities such as Liverpool Hope, Chester, Sunderland, and other ex-polytechnics aren’t respected in the non-medical graduate job market. They are not going to get offered jobs working as Investment bankers for example.
Hey Hiba, could I talk to you about my own personal situation regarding med school. I think it would be really helpful to talk to someone who is a foundation year doctor.
I would try to diversify your skills and ensure you are building a CV with components outside of medicine as well, so that you have a plan B if you need it.
Thank you for this. I’m a 20yr old wanting to study medicine at med school because I want to be there to make a difference in peoples lives. I’m starting with no qualifications. I’m both excited and nervous to start this journey!
I have spoken about this in some of my previous videos! Please have a look at the applying to medicine playlist. Any unanswered Qs I’m happy to answer! ☺️
I have mixed feelings as there are days I love the job and other days that I find quite difficult. Particularly getting used to rotational work I’ve found hard. It is also at times demoralising due to the general decline of the NHS. I think I need to give it some more time as I am very early on in my medical career. However I most certainly would be looking to go less than full-time & will be doing things outside of med to stay well-rounded!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm doing my GCSEs right now and this has really opened my eyes to the probelms with the healthcare system right now. I am very dedicated to working towards a career in medicine but I'm afraid about how competitive it is.
Thank you for watching! It certainly is quite competitive, from trying to get a place in medical school all the way to the later stages of post-graduate training, and unfortunately it appears that this is only increasing. Hopefully the video gave you some questions to reflect on to help with your choice. Good luck with the GCSEs 🍀
Try and socialise as much as possible! Attend the events, join societies and spend loads of time on campus. As someone who also stayed at home it’s harder to develop close friendships compared to those who are in accommodation, but with doing the above you’ll have a great time. Good luck 🍀
hello, my sister wants to give her A levels in UK. when i gave them there was AS and A2 and there were practical exams as well each year. she wants to give exams as a private candidate and i was wondering is the practical necessary and is AS and A2 give in a single year now adays. Please help. Thankyou.
Thx I will definitely try it.❤ Anki and digital flashcards don't let me to actually paint mind maping process on flashcards, only linear notes are not effective so if I synthesis this two thing + mind maping I think would work very well ❤ ❤ after watching hundreds of videos in which people just speaking and at last I got nothing actual to help me make study process easy your video was definitely useful. Thank you again ❤
UCAT is a computer-based test and there may be an approved centre in your country however you will need to find this information on the UCAT official website/email the team if this information is not readily available
Thank you for the information. And would you recommend using quesmed in preclinical years? If not, what other question bank would be helpful? Thank you.
Hi, sorry I missed this earlier. I personally didn’t use quesmed in clinical years and I wouldn’t recommend it as I think the questions would be beyond that level and would be quite difficult when you are still learning the basic science. I think it’s best to start using in clinical years when you can apply that knowledge to what you see in hospital and you will have plenty of time for this in clinical years. I didn’t use any external question banks for pre-clinical years but I have heard that the passmed one is good for pre-clinical.
Hi @hibbear ! Good evening. Thank you for your generosity. I believe everyone will love if your videos are always long. Oh, I sent you an email. Best Regards
