Great review; really appreciate this. Just wanted to throw this out there, as I have discovered it too late: something else worth considering is storage. All the custom token boxes I can find are formed to hold GameGenic shaped tokens. If you get anything other than GameGenic (I went with Curled Paw on Etsy), you'll have a hard time finding something to organize your tokens in. Just something to consider.
Can a brute attack a piece on the opposite side of the board since it can also move to opposite sides of the board? What do you mean exactly when you say that a Brute cannot attack a player that hasnt moved?
Finally played it with my 9 year old. I kept trying to learn how to play it but he just figured it all out and taught me. So much fun. Hard to find though. They should do a reprint.
You guys are lucky to all be able to sit together and reminisce like this. My whole community is gone now for several years. The memories are fond, but most of my wing men are gone. Cheers to your squad
One of the all-time legendary designers. No one can combine amazing mechanics while giving amazing thematic flavour like he does. The Star Wars stuff is an obvious example but Battlestar Galactica is an unmatched hidden traitor game to this day despite the attempts to re-implement it.
That was a great, spot on, interview. Please bring us more designer interviews like this one! Btw no one does thematic IP implementations like Corey. He's the best in the market for that. And always so humble.
Congrats on new jobs. I know moving and changing jobs is one of the most stressful things on earth but I must say, your sw rebellion video is one of the best board game plays I’ve seen on the internet. I know you took a lot of time editing it, but it was worth it I think. Gj
So the game seems to be a VERY chess-adjacent game, probably even more so than Arimaa. Unlike Arimaa, however, this game is probably even easier for a computer to play due to the smaller board and less numerous pieces. Also, people who can't completely wrap their head around how the predator and guardian move probably are the type of people to forget how pawns move, that is to say, people who don't get quaint with the game. I could totally see this game having some competitive potential.
How is grogu supposed go keep rebels "fresh" He can only heal wounds, not restore minis so he is mostly worthless for gunlines unless you got units with multiple wounds
Thank you that means a lot. You might also like our Outer Rim videos too then! And I do have another Rebellion video recorded. So there will be more edited Rebellion sometime. Hopefully by the end of the year...
Fragmentation Grenades are super great also. Add one of them to the attack pool, get at range 1 (which they can very often) and just devastate everything. They surge to crit (normally have no surges), which boosts their damage potential and versatility (great against armored targets) at the same time. They still get the Up Close and Personal doge token and have their great armor, so get close and light up every kind of enemy.
