Welcome to my channel! My name is Sam, a mom with a music background. Come follow along for homeschooling, planning and all the Mom things. Let's help lift each other up in our vocations! We got this!
Excellent video!!😍 New subscribe here! I would love to see a separate video on your curriculum pacing, as well as lunch & dinner ideas, your cleaning routine & how you assign chores to your kiddos. Thank you for sharing! 🙂
They're separate. The continents are their own unit study. For science we are doing the Good and the Beautiful's Sparks and Stars. The kids have just made some connections with the two when we have done certain lessons, which I love! 🌎 🌟
@@musicalmama118 I am considering purchasing the mega bundle for fall. I think that it might have some good add ons. It seems to have a heavy geography focus. I have never purchased a bundle before though . I am a little hesitant. If you have ever seen these please feel free to share your thoughts. It closes soon so I also don’t want to make an impulse purchase because of the deadline.
@Butterflies2025 the only bundles I have ever purchased are the season bundles from home and haven homeschool (and some of their bundles i have indeed not purchased) So I'm not sure which one you're talking about. The great thing is that they have lots of things to add to your homeschool. But also at the same time it can be overwhelming with the amount of things you receive in a bundle. My advice is, if you really think you will use pieces from the bundle now AND in the future then it's worth it, otherwise just skip it!
Did you do all the activities? That's what prevents me from buying their Little Hearts and Hands curricula. Projects aren't a priority for me right now
We did somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of them. To me, the activities are a bonus but not completely necessary for the lessons themselves. Some of the lessons have a demonstration type activity as part of the opening and then there's the bonus activities at the end of each lesson. All of the activities (in my opinion) either demonstrate/enhance whatever was taught in the lesson or was more along the lines of busy work. If I thought that doing the activities would help explain what was being taught, especially if my kids weren't familiar with the topic then we did it. But I didn't worry about the fact that we didn't do every single thing, we still had lots of good conversation after the story or the audio narration. But that's all just my opinion! I loved it...and more importantly my kids enjoyed the curriculum and learned a lot! 📚☺️
Love How concise u are ! I recently got a trubind for $34 at a liquidation sale ,It has the disengaging key with foot pedal ..so excited to start using It ,i gifted my previous ' Regular' one to another homeschool mom
Nice to meet you! 👋🏻. Wondering how do you incorporate music for your kids? What are your thoughts on Prodigies Music? I have a 2 year old that looooves music.
I haven't done anything super consistent or formal as far as music goes. We almost always have music playing in the house and we sing and dance together! I have begun to teach my oldest a little bit of piano and music reading but not a lot yet. Never heard of Prodigies music before, so I wouldn't want to give an opinion to something I haven't used. As long as learning music is fun and engaging ...that's all that matters, especially at the younger ages 😊🎶
Hi :) I saw your comment on Abby’s video. Did she add your video for you? I can’t figure out how to add mine to the playlist AND I can’t leave a comment on her video. 🙈
Yes she added my video! I think she has her comments set where she has to approve them...so after you write one it does disappear temporarily until she approves them. I think in previous show and tell videos she had a pinned comment where you could put your link and she'd add the videos....maybe she will do that for future videos. So I would just drop her a comment with your video link and she will add it! Hope that helps! 😊👍
Oh man, you've asked the impossible! 🤔 I do really enjoy reading classic literature...that is something I have really gotten into in the past few years. But I dont always like to "think" when I am reading. So I gotta say I'm a sucker for a good small town romance...grumpy/sunshine's are my favorite! 🌞
We have a lot in common. Geez, the being eclectic, feeling bad if I’m not all busy eyed before 8 ( I love your confidence in your get up and go time!) (first year) the planning, finding it hard to identify as anything other than a parent. I get you.❤
I knew I couldn't be the only one that didn't wake up at dawn before her kids 😅 as far as planners go, my planner for homeschool is an Erin Condren Teacher planner. They did release an actual homeschool planner but it's still new and needs some revision (in my opinion). But the teacher planner works just fine for me and keeps me organized! 👍
Can you talk more about how to manage individual subjects with the older kids? Do you teach one and then the other, or give the older work to do while working with the younger? I have a 6 & 4 YO also, plus 2 YO and 3 month old. I'm figuring out how to do school with both kids while there's heavy tea her involvement.
I have been navigating that myself as well. I used the first few weeks of our school year to try out some different approaches and we have been finding our footing with that. Starting one of them on handwriting always works well because then I can help the other with their work and then switch. Sometimes I have my 1st grader do the review/independent practice at the end of his lessons first (since there is nothing new there) after giving him some quick instructions he can work through that himself while I can concentrate on my preschooler. And then when I'm done with her stuff I can switch and do the actual "new" lesson stuff with him.
Just a preference! It's like using a notebook vs using a binder and filling it with lined paper. They do the same thing...just depends on which you prefer! 😊
@@musicalmama118 Thank u for answering! I am waiting on my Rayson- I ordered through your link in the description!! The Creator led me to u cuz I was unsure for a while about which binder and printer to get. I will b getting most inexpensive HP eco tank next. Peace and love to u and yours!!!!🥰🥰
@musicalmama118 ooh okay, makes sense. I thought she was younger-- I have a 2YO running around and it would take a while to teach him to leave the cart alone. Eventually!
Looking forward to the daily routine! I feel like if I leave the house for any reason (playdate, doctor appt, etc) then school is out the window for the day, and then that can add up. We took a newborn break, and have been schooling throughout summertime.
I totally get that! I have a small window where I will run errands. I will be sure to add in how I handle errands and appointments too in the daily routine video! Thanks for watching 💖
Yes! He won't receive First Communion until 2nd grade, but we are planting the seeds now. He also participates in Religious Education class at our Parish.
Hey sweet mama! Just subscribed to your channel. We just completed first grade TGTB Language Arts and Math and we did love it. May you and your little ones have a wonderful year! 🙌☺️💖💖
Sounds like a great year!! I also have a channel and have yet to put together the recap videos. Thanks for sharing. Just subscribed. I would love to be friends and connect. I love music too and mainly sing. What instruments do you play? Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Thanks for subscribing! I will check out your channel too. I love connecting with other homeschool moms! 💖 I went to school for oboe, but would consider myself a woodwind specialist. I play a lot of piano for my kiddos!! They love to sing along 💕
@@musicalmama118 ooh. Teach me. I played the clarinet for 1 year but remember nothing. lol. I also play piano but hardly have time to play. Thank you so much also!
I loved the geography unit study! We subscribe to Letters Afar and use that country each month as a light geography lesson, then we look for food from the region for everyone to try. Then watch youtube travel videos and library books. This is my oldest first year being aware of the Olympics which is adding an additional layer of curiosity for geography. ❤ Loved the video, subscribed and look forward to more!
Thanks for subscribing! My oldest is excited for the Olympics too for the first time!! He has been looking forward to not only the geography of all the countries, but all the different sports that he hasn't heard of before. It's going to be so fun to watch with him this year! 💖
I didn’t know Into the Deep has a Beatitude unit study. I was going to create my own lol. The weekly companion looks good, I will order it. Thanks for sharing.💖
Thank you for this video. You gave so many helpful tips! I would’ve placed my holes on the furthest in setting! I used 24 lb paper this time, but next time I’ll try the 32 lb 🙂
New subscriber here! So fun to see your morning basket books! I just posted my summer morning basket books and resources to my (brand new!) channel - check it out if you have a chance ❤
Just wanted to say In my experience lil joey and rumparooz do not fit at 4lbs. My daughters legs were way too skinny, she was 4lbs 3oz and didn't hit 6 until she was 2 months but I did actually like the lil joey cover(is the cover lil joey or rumparooz? Lol) much better than any other nb diaper or cover I had because you can do the one size newborn hack with it to make it smaller to fit a preemie better. It's funny because now her thighs are the only chunky part of her body, she's 15lbs now at 7 months and we use the esembly size 1 now and its hard to fit the inners around her thighs as is but when I roll the elastic inwards the space for the legs widens up and they fit her well like that because she has such a tiny waist and sizing up would be massive on her narrow lil belly shes only on the second snap from the center. But this is actually helpful if the one we are currently pregnant with ends up being bigger so when they estimate size closer to when we are due we can get an idea of what may work the best so thanks for the info for the average size and bigger babies!
There is no foiling on the cover itself unless you personalize at the bottom. Whatever you write there would be in foiling, but you can choose what color! I did the year in rose gold foiling for my personalization. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching 😊
Thank you for sharing a flip through of this planner! I have been trying to decide what my next planner will be, and after watching your video I have decided to buy this planner. It is beautiful! And I love the extra pages that are included that are not in the LifePlanner & for about half the cost. I Homeschool my grandson, and this planner has enough room to include school records along with my personal planning. Thank you for sharing! I did not even know there was a softbound teacher's planner until I saw your video. It will be perfect for me!
Yay! I am so glad it was helpful. I love how slim and compact it is compared to the coiled teacher planner....plus the wildflower design is gorgeous 😍 Thanks for watching! 🙂
I've always used pocket diapers, but next time around I'd love to try out flats and covers. My son was in cloth until he was 3.5 and his little booty BARELY fit 😅😅 This was a great video! I love how you brought up absorbency too. Size isn't everything!
I haven't actually used an ECLP since 2012/2013. I liked it okay, but I'm just a Moleskine 18-month planner gal at heart, and I need to learn to accept that...as of now, I still haven't. I've BOUGHT the ECLP for the past few years and they just sit here basically unused. :( I still have no idea what I'm going to use for 2021, but if I do go w/the ECLP (I too have the colorful horizontal) I'm glad I bought it during its initial launch back in May because in my May 1st square for 2021 it is completely void of holidays. Having all that space wasted with every holiday in the world they now think they have to put in because of EC's graduationgate nonsense would pmo. Oh, look...national nurses day on May 6th. lol really? Don't get me wrong. I like all the "wacky" holidays myself. I enjoy knowing there's a national cheeseburger day, national margarita day (Feb 22 if anyone cares), administrative assistant's day (though I think it's called something else now), etc, etc, but come on. <sigh> Anyway, I don't see too many horizontal users and if I do, they're usually the neutral version. Oh! My favorite EC theme was your least favorite. The kaleidoscope was my favorite. My least favorite theme...I really hate it...was the midcentury circles (which is a LOT of people's favorite). TFS. :)
Mid-Century circles is also another one I didn’t like too!! The Petals one was my favorite!! I totally agree about adding all the observances and holidays...it’s awful they feel they need to do that for PR. Still love the planner though, and I got to use cute stickers to cover up a lot of the observances :)
Would love to see how they work wrapped around him. I recently bought the diaper rite larges they were so big I ended up needing to warp them around her with a snapping and really loved it. It actually got me into flats and stretchy flats 🙈 but that’s a whole other story
They barely fit wrapped around him! He’s too big! 😳 Ended up abandoning the snappis and went back to trifolding with the front folded down 😆🤦🏻♀️ Never have used flats, but if he for some reason outgrows these xls, that’s what I’m going to try next!
How do/did you like the rumparooz? I cloth diapered my now 2 year old as a newborn but just got our first rumparooz newborn cover. He was a chunk and cover wise we loved our newborn blueberry diaper covers. I just wish I tried more of a variety for him so we now have a very extensive newborn stash 😅
The rumparooz nb cover did fit well over a newborn fitted, like the thirsties nb fitteds. It worked well with my daughter, but she was a lot smaller than my son as a newborn. The blueberry covers were my favorite!
Musical Mama It’s one of my favorites ❤️ Our next baby’s theme is acorns because of this diaper lol we have a large cover, a size 2 duo and a newborn cover but I’m hoping to find a wet bag on the BST eventually. It’s just so gorgeous 😍
Not sure where you live, but they are limiting visitors to our hospital due to the virus. Prayers going up for a happy and safe delivery My daughter is having a c section on May 1st.
Yeah, this video actually posted after baby girl had arrived. And the visitor policy had changed at our hospital. Only my husband was allowed during our stay. Will be praying for your daughters csection! ♥️
Happy I stumbled across your video. I was stumped how to use my month deluxe. I bought this for my faith journal but I have been really lazy. I may actually do a video myself. I'm catholic as well and never thought about writing down the novena and stuff. Thanks. Please come subscribe to my channel too.
