These cubes don't lend themselves well to affordable housing, or housing at all TBH. All of the odd angles and intersections lead to inflated building, maintenance, architectural and engineering costs and make for awkward and wasted space. You can absolutely have a flat roof in Canada without issue. The issue with the flat roof here is a combination of the placement the odd shape of the cubes, and probably poor maintenance too. The cubes are neat as an artistic statement but have inherent flaws compared to traditional buildings. I'm not at all surprised they didn't catch on.
You forgot to go back to the 2nd floor of the inlaw section. Don't know why you wouldn't have just finished the inlaw section while you were right there.
That's why I'm not leaving my "stuff" behind for my children to have to go thru. It shouldn't be their burden because I collected things with no meaning to them.
I am familiar with this area. thank you for this beautiful amazing tour. The bubble gum pink room was quite something eh!! LOL that's alot of friggin pink paint !! what a stunning STUNNING building back in the day. Great tour! thank you, and your commentary is pretty funny. I love it. Stay safe!
Sorry, I had to leave the tour, but I do hope that they try to save the marble and the appliances, fireplace mantles, that can be reused, it hurts my brain to think that it’s going to be torn down and replaces by a larger home. I grew up poor and we had so little, but we were happy. It’s just beautiful but kinda a big waste of space. But maybe if you had a very large family I could understand. Sorry!
Great looking space. Heating it will be expensive due to the high ceilings. All your heat will rise up and escape out of the roof and windows. It is highly unlikely that it is insulated very well either. Good luck with your project. I wish you every success in your music business.
Maybe if they didn't build it overhanging a fucking expressway in a junk yard they might have been useful to people. Typical Toronto landlord idiocy. Greed and more tacky greed is what has pushed Canada into the world's most corrupt housing market of the G10 NATIONS. Money laundering from fentanyl sales and meth from chinese and mexican cartels into Canadian housing is in the Billions of dollars. If we actually took advice from the Dutch and the Scandinavians as to public housing and urban planning we might have a little dignity restored to our crumbling identity and sovereignty.
What a sad story but WOW you do a fabulous job taking us through it. I can't say you missed anything!! So awesome. And yes, at the end of the day, that's all our lives end up as. Someone to clean up after we're gone to our eternal home, or not at all, in this case. His life seems to have ended in a very lonely and isolated state. That's what happens when you are an alcoholic. Isolation is the end result. Who knows, he may have lost a marriage, kids, employment as a result of his drinking. Just speculation, but that's usually what happens to an alcoholic. They call it "the alcohol remover" - takes everything from you. I'm speaking from experience, but i am sober today, but for the Grace of God ❤ 🙏. Rest in Peace Gerry! 🙏 ❤No more suffering buddy.
I see nothing affordable about that construction. It’s elevated, it’s not dense, and as you pointed out flat roof is expensive. Custom furniture, what every cost constrained buyer is bringing to the table.!
I can hear you loud and clear, but not only that I use close captions because I’ve got hearing problems anyways so if I don’t hear what you say the first time I go and read what you said so it’s OK if you have to wear your mask these people just need to stop and use their close captions
