A new channel that focuses on the usual topics in prepping. I quickly go through my systems, and discuss everything from gear setup/experience to the philosophy of urban bug out. Future videos will consist of concepts regarding upgrades to my systems and urban homesteading since I live in a major city in the United States.
We also places a lot of emphasis on the environment, and the hazards found all around us. I try to apply an "out of the box" approach to help encourage critical thinking at an individual level therefore encouraging a healthy exchange of ideas within the prepping community.
The video content doesn’t end there. Topics such as our health and urban hazards will also be included. By combining these topics, a connection between our body and our basic way of living becomes stronger which in turn we could educate others in our neighborhoods, communities, towns, cities…you name it.
VERY COOL! You lost me at the stamps though. I don't think the mail is going to be running in a grid down situation. And if there is some kind of mail running, I don't think having a stamp or not will matter. Maybe a pocket Chinese dictionary would make more sense.
The Berkey is a poor knock-off of the original Doulton Berkefeld. Doulton Ceramics has been in business since the 1800's and monitors their filters continually in large quantities. Can't beat that!
You scored at $450.00 for all of that. I paid $350 for two filters and just bought 2 more off amazon for $125.00? not including the fluoride filters....
Quite an exaggeration and cherry picking that ruined your credibility. Nobody pays $2 for a bottle of water for home consumption. At a price gouging event like a fair or sporting event, yes. To realistically compare, you can buy a case of 24 or 36 bottles for about $3/case for home consumption depending on timing of sale from a grocery store.
Berkey is being sued. Their claims are not correct. The testing was bogus. They are stating that the filters will only work for about 200 gallons. I am so mad. I just bought one and extra filters. I am going to try to return the my extra filters.
This was a good review but I would like to correct one thing. Not all people should drink a gallon a day as that is too much for a smaller person. A good base is half your body weight in ounces of water. Thanks for the review it was helpful.
Never use the white candles they leach aluminium into water. There’s already way too much in your system likely, due to multiple contamination problems
No mention whatsoever of inevitable bio contamination well before the filters reach their limits by gallonage. Berkey doesn't seem to address this either. Always wear gloves when scrubbing the filters. No specific NSF ratings.
I have the berkey. Priming is no big deal. I thought it was the first time i used it but once done it's no big deal the 2nd time. With the spigot just add a 2nd washer and it is as water tight as it can be. Actually I find it pretty convenient. My 3 cats have fresh clean water all day. I have enough to drink and cook with all day every day, with this system you never run out.
Great video. Just a quick FYI - check out this link for an easy way to prime the black filers: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T6qZ-7kvqNs.html
Good review. I have the smaller version. You can use the bathroom tap to prime the white filter as it doesn't move around. Also you can tap the long tube with 2'' clear tap to the berkey if you have children.
Yeah, but then you’re drinking water with micro plastics in it and contributing to global pollution and waste. This is better and cheaper in the long run.
Finally a good objective report. I live in the Netherlands and have already scoured the entire internet for a decent water filter. You also discuss the cons here frankly and truthfully. I used to be a prototype builder and I see that he didn't take into account the things you mention. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
97 percent ? NOT GOOD ENOUGH, Kris Kringle 5 hours ago 427My sisters Well water is polluted, 427 PPM. Another friends water in Charlton MA, 800 PPM Deathly Toxic. You can buy a TDS meter for about twenty bucks, that is all you need to test your water. As a reference Distilled Water is 0. You have to check your Pre-water /post=water with a TDS meter, if you get closer to Zero, then you know how purified it really is. You are paying for extra tests for nothing. WHAT is your PPM after filtering any water through your Berkey. Just because a water tastes better, it does not mean that it is. Think of all the toxic Geoengineering Chemicals that are polluting everyones well water. Double RO filters with booster pumps and a couple of heavy metal filters work best. If you dont' know your PPM, then your really don't KNOW what you are drinking.
my GF works the opposite shift from me, so she lets our dog sleep in bed with her. but when we're out the house, he stays in his kennel, which is what I'm looking for a bed for, plus another bed that we can move around where ever we need it. this video helped me make a decision, thanks!
great review.... thank you. bet hey save for coffee or tea, if we eat fruit, a lot of, you need no extra water, i am excited, the price here in canada is a grand, but is on its way
Thats pretty good though! Great Video in detail. thanks for sharing! love your fur baby too. cute I just got my own 2.? gallons "Big Berkey" and shower set filters putting mine together. thanks for the info..
@@NewEnglandPrepping always had big dog. I have a black long hair shepherd with a little lab mix. state registered full svc dog. so smart. does about anything for me. gotta love our fur babies. yea, i will check it out..
I used to carry one before, few years ago. Then I stopped because there were a lot of stuff that I did not use. I lived in Philadelphia, and I thought it would have been helpful. But because of the fact that I never had to use the stuff, I just started leaving it home.
What a sweet heart pup and great review of this jacket! I am looking for a waterproof warm jacket for my Standard Poodle Mako as we hike the AT starting in mid February.. not sure about this jacket any suggestions
Sounds like you were paid to review this by the manufacturer. I have done reviews on both sides of the fence on a myriad of product categories. I do appreciate you speaking clearly, but I would recommend rehearsing before just reading off note cards. Sometimes, particular with little time available, I have used cue cards behind the camera.
Good content, nice video. I have these, as well as the Targhee 2 and other Keen's. To me they're not durable, sturdy enough for my preference. The Targhee also has the reflective strap around the heel, not very stealthy. I personally prefer a leather hiking boot, foot wear is such a personal preference.
Considering the size of the kit it's very nice it has a SAK. I think Dave Canterbury doesn't mention a fishing kit in his 10 Cs of survival cause If I am not mistaken the place where he is not very good for fishing. I would advise to make a small fishing kit inside a small zip lock to go inside that tool's bag and also a small sewing kit.
Berkey is not approved for sale in Iowa or California because both states requires companies to prove their purification claims, and Berkey refuses to comply. So any company that won't even prove their system works to one of the largest states in the nation where they would make 1000's of sales is showing everyone their product doesn't live up to the claims it makes ... and independent researchers proved that point exactly , they found that the Berkey makes a Great and Extremely Expensive water filter system that will clean up tap water and make it taste better ..but it stinks at removing cysts and pathogens ... so in the end you get a glorified Pur Kitchen Water Pitcher for hundreds of dollars .... what is it with you monkey see monkey do people who just buy something because everyone else is doing it ....
@@NewEnglandPrepping Sure here's a very good rundown on independent tests done on the berkey system .... which makes the logical and sensible statement that if Berkey wants to claim their Filter system is as good as they state then they need to get the NSF/ANSI certification that all other good water filtration system get ... Berkey keeps telling everyone that their own tests are good enough ...but then go on to say they don't want to get certification because of their super secret filter technology ... now if you want to waste your money on a stupid system that does'nt think they need to have their system tested and certified to ensure the actual safety of their product ... go for it ... but for me and other realistic and sensible people ..we've seen all sorts of claims come from companies about their products that turn out to be bogus .. so we want to know why Berkey thinks it's alright to sell a very expensive system without getting certification that proves it actually does what it says it does... just google berkey in Iowa and California and you'll see they are banned because they wont get NSF/ANSI certification www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/big-berkey-water-filter-system/
I heard that Berkey didn’t want to give out the proprietary filter component breakdown. Cali wanted that info released. I don’t think it was their purification claims.
@@ckanderso Independent Labs cut the Berkey Filters open and lo and behold there was'nt any super secret proprietary filter components in them ...they contain the very same charcoal filtration that a $20.00 filter has .... here's the deal, you people fell for a companies lies because you never research things for yourself and just copied what someone else in your tribe is doing .... this is childish behavior , believing the lies a company who wont even go through the same testing every water filtration system is perfectly happy to do just because so dimwit tells you it works is stupid ...
Beginners generally need a general purpose, easy to find, not very expensive solution. The same for any type pf product. Keen's will work for most people and are readily available. There is not one boot that works for everyone but Keen's will suit a wide range of people. Experienced people are more specialized in their selections. I get his point.
