Well, that's just tra-menjous! A sense of thoughtful exploration, yet with overall structure. I really enjoyed this. Piano out of tune, and I agree that the playing outstrips the piano. Wonderful.
I’ve spent a solid day learning this piece and I’ve gotten it to about 2:50 full speed and from memory. Obviously that’s the east bit but after having just finished the first Ballade, I started listening to this piece more and more, hearing something that I never had done before, and it spurred me to work on it. Chopin was a genius, my heart aches when I listen to him and his works are music in its purest form.
Do you mind if i ask how old you are? it's incredible that you're able to play this at your age. Just brilliant. It's a dream of mine to play this piece one day. I'm about 5:00 in.
It took me around a year to learn it and feel like it was a solid, performable piece. But, I wasn't working on it every day, and the days where I did work on it varied between 30 minutes of practice all the way up to around 5 hours.
So many great things to say about this video! You have devoted yourself so much to the heart of Chopin's most beloved of the ballades. Great work on the polyphony (b59-67) making the melody sing, even when it's more difficult on its A-flat major return. Love how you build melodically to the coda all the way from bb152 - 202. Your technique in b191-198 is excellent -- Op 25 No 12 "Ocean" skill shines here. Also excellent technique in those tricky chromatic thirds in the coda, especially how each builds and is more than just technique. If I am nitpicking, b212-219 can be more legierro (particularly in the right hand, let them dance together lightly to prepare for that energetic descent of 6ths). But that's just nitpicking. So much emotion and passion comes across, revealing Chopin's heart! This made my night.
This is just fabulous! The depth in that piece is just great! Just amazing. That piano sounds ok, but you need to play this is a studio! Bet you have a great teacher aswell!
It was just incredible!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!! I like your piano!!! Its sure not the best one, but who cares? Ir has character and im sure you love it!!!!!
You are a real artist. This needs a little faster tempo here and there. And you need to get coaching on it with a very good artist. You are less a diamond in the rough than a seed sprouting from the ground. Very well managed performance and just really interesting!
You deserve to record this piece on a professional piano. That piano sounds ok, your playing is better than the piano. Would love to hear you play it again on an 8 foot Steinway, Bosendorfer, or some other world class piano.
