I have been working full time in a high risk & high pressured job for nearly 20 years and my wife & I are also raising 3 teenagers as well. I was looking for a hobby to help me de-stress & get away from the pressures of work & life. So, I got my motorcycle license and bought a brand new 2023 KLX 300. After my first day out riding, I decided that it might be fun to make a hobby out of it, so I bought some recording equipment and started making some YT videos. I will also include the occasional other various types of events, things we do and places we go … cuz, why not??? Additionally, I will often include my Christian faith in my videos as I love the Lord Jesus Christ and as My Lord & King, He is included in all that I am and all that I do! I’m not sure how long I will do this for, perhaps for as long as I find doing it enjoyable and fun to do!
@@thecarcastleable Thanks for the comment. Ya, it’s rated for quad & dirtbike. Once in a while I will hit single track stuff, but I more enjoy the wider trails. They tend to have more rocks you have to navigate, but nothing is perfect!

But, hey … I really appreciate that you took some time out of your high profile life and full schedule to watch the video & leave an encouraging comment! But, TBH, I never actually thought about it that much. It’s not meant to be a particularly loud & action filled video. Just a shorter video of a guy using his bike to get groceries & make dinner … which is a rather mundane and boring endeavour! It just is! Over the winter when the bike is in storage I am gonna do some thinking about whether or not I (with my personality) could pull off making a few of these videos next year/season with some added dialogue & flare! Kind of like the great Emerald Lagasse … “BAM!” Fascinating Thought??? … Now to come up with my own catchphrase since “BAM!” is already taken, lol :)
@@20beersago75 Thanks for the comment. I would think so, but I haven’t looked at it that seriously because I like it. Adds a nice splash of colour. I didn’t think I would, but I do. So give it a while & see if it grows on you. If not, get a heat gun and take it off.
@@emilianogonzalez223 Thanks for the comment. When I am riding in the back country. on dirt roads and trails, the fuel light comes on around 150 - 155 KM's but I have kept riding to 170 Km's. So I can say 170 Km's for sure! likely closer to 190 - 200 before its empty. Spanish … Gracias por el comentario. Cuando viajo por el interior del país. I would love to watch high definition but ever since cell phone companies offer home internet on cell towers I can barley run 480p... I pay $135 plan BTW S24 Ultra.. but thanks for the content bro❤
Hey man. Good video. Just wanna ask how accurate is your speedometer? Those speeds you got seem to tally with other people but just wanna ask to be sure.
@@deviant721 Thanks for the comment. It tracks with what I was getting last year when everything was brand new & stock. The dealership ordered & installed the new tires. It also felt about right when I was on the highway. So based on all that I suspect that these speeds are accurate.
@@redeemedadventures That's good. Been looking again at a 300SM myself for mostly street riding so it's reassuring that the SM should be able to run on the highway (like 70-80 mph). Won't be doing all highway all the time, I just want the capability to when I occasionally need to.
@@deviant721 It will absolutely do 85-90 MPH max … and comfortably hum down the highway all day at 70-75! It’s a great bike for around town/city and short highway trips. Especially the SM.
I’d swap out that gate latch, all the screw heads are visible and can be removed in a couple seconds with a cordless impact if your actually trying to keep the bike locked. Lots of crazy’s wandering the neighbour hoods at night. From another local Alberta boy.

So 75 on freeway to get to a trail( when unavoidable) is not pushing this bike to the limit with a 200lb rider. Thanks for the video man! I really want one of these amd been wondering about that
@@machupikachu1085 Thanks for the comment. Fairly solid. It’s a small & lighter bike so it’s not the same as a 700 pound Harley that’s firmly planted. But, as long as you’re paying attention and not being an idiot it’s solid enough at highway speeds to feel comfortable. I have virtually no need to take it on the highway, so except for the occasional time I just want to take it out on the highway I just don’t bother, because I do t need to. But when I do, I hit that top speed zone for 10 minutes or so, then I hit a secondary highway and slow it down by 20-30 KPH (15-20 MPH) and just cruise down the secondary highways a bit slower. It’s not a highway speed bike, but as long as you’re a decent rider it should be no problem for shorter distances.

*** Note *** I wanted that exit off the highway to get back into the city, if not for that I think if I had kept going straight down the highway and kept on the throttle; it felt like I likely would have gotten another 2-4 KPH (1-2 MPH) out of her. So, Officially the result of today’s test is 134 (83) … but I firmly believe the unofficial #’s are very likely (137/85).

Either way, this gives people a good idea what it’s like. +/- by a couple.

Thanks for the comment. I record on a GoPro 11 Hero Black. It has the GoPro media mod on it. I do not use any external mics, I did turn off the forward facing mic and the only mic recording is the rear mic on the GoPro media mod. The GoPro is mounted via a chin mount on the outside of my helmet.
I wiped out a couple of times this day. But, instead of including them, I’m saving my wipeouts up to make a “wipe out video” of my wipe outs for the 2023/2024 seasons. I think I have 6 or 7 of them recorded so far.

I only wish I had thought ahead a bit better and had a set up where I could set the phone up to simply record while I enjoyed it with my family, instead of trying to find the balance of time holding the phone up & recording and time to put the phone down and simply be there in the moment and enjoy it with my family. I wanted to record some to “record the memory” … So, I guess it’s better than nothing, but I wish I had prepared better & produced a better video.

I’m hoping the new GoPro coming out this September is much better at low light (night) recording. If it is, I will buy it & do a night time city ride.
