Thank you for explaining everything so well. My family loves playing board games especially during birthdays and holidays when everyone can get together. My 10 year old nephew especially love board games because it makes him feel like a grownup when he’s able to comprehend and carry on a game with the adults. This game would be perfect for him.
Hey, thanks for the video! From experience, what happens a lot of time is that the players will have a pretty good idea when they have reached the independence threshold, and after that there is a lot more intensity to the competition. Especially for the special victory point cards (which are like Longest Road in Settlers of Cataan), since taking one thing from another player can cause ownership of the special victory point card to shift. And of course, turn order is -really- important in that case. So the last couple of rounds are often where the most intense competition happens. But since there can be a chance of a volcano up to the next to last round, you will occasionally have a situation where there is a big natural disaster while players are competing, dropping them -below- the independence threshold, and they have to collectively scramble to get the game back to where -someone- can win, while at the same time trying to make sure it is not -someone else- who does. There's a lot of nuance and a combination of playing the game and playing the table.
@@JustGotPlayed Odds are pretty good the first game or two will be a loss, especially if you have a couple really bad volcanoes or events. But it does not take long for players to get a feel for the dynamics of the game. There is a fine balance between spending all your Gold to increase growth potential, and saving some to speed your recovery if there is a disaster of some sort. Volcanoes especially, since these are not "spend Gold to avoid damage". The damage - is - going to happen, it is how fast you can recover from it that matters. As a matter of game balance there can be a maximum of one Volcano event per Era, and an Era is 4 cards, so it is very unlikely you will get back-to-back Volcanoes. But it - can - happen, a Volcano as the last Event in one era and the first Event in the next Era.
I had preordered it from GameNerdz. It does seem to be out of stock at all the online stores, but some local stores might have a copy. I'm sure there will be another printing of it, so waiting for a preorder might be your best bet if you want it new. Otherwise you could probably find it second hand at BoardGameGeek or on eBay.
I have galaxies and that is good. But I am enjoying the hell out of tiny epic dungeons. I can't believe what an amazing dungeon crawl it is. I thought given the small box and component limitations would be very compromised but it's actually incredibly robust and very fun. I heard Pirates is excellent as well so I think that's my next acquisition
I'm going to try the stun lock strategy...maybe look at including cards like Think Fast, Drop Kick, Never Back Down, Concussive Blow...it's too risky to flip to AE, but with Zola confused; it can give you some breathing space
Tried Adam Warlock vs Zola and it's really hard....took me 90 mins, only to lose! Zola puts plenty of pressure on the board ... thank you for this match up!
Sorry I'm late to this party, but ran across this video while trying to decide whether to get the new version or the Decennial. Doesn't the Decennial version come with expansions - specifically the King and Intrigue expansion? I don't think you mentioned that in your video, so now I'm second-guessing that. Thanks!

Dungeons and zombies are nice solo - easy to track multiple different 'players' as a solo, also have decent solo modes in their respective rulebooks. Drawback of dungeons is the almost need for the online appendix to quickly help with each card. Defenders has the least to track and simpler if you don't want a large sprawling arena like dungeons, although I haven't tried the dark war expansion yet solo. I'd probably just avoid Tactics, Dinosaurs and pirates. But all of those are great for non-solo. My wife and I play pirates a lot at the moment.
@@WolfStory absolutely! And I can't believe I didn't mention Quest for solo play. Very fun, either again by simulating 4 players or its solo mode is great standalone
The coins in the first edition are much better looking, I believe the horses also look better in the 1st edtion. I bought the 2nd edition plastic betting chips though. They are sold as an extra.

Cool video, thank you! The Bruticus ability means that at the end of the agme you're not going to lose VP from damage. I haven't played the game but from what I've seen damage cards have effect of losing you VP's if you still have them at the end of the game. So Bruticus doesn't care if he gets damaged he just marches on. Cool concept, dunno how useful it is in a real game though. Also bruv...stop complaining about them having low movement despite some of their parts being speedy. I may be wrong but I'm 90% sure this has been addressed in their team ability on the cards. Like the helicopter probably gives you flight and the motorcycle gives you more movement. Come on bro, they can't all have 3 movement in both forms, you get that from their cards. xD Anyway thank you again for the video. I recently got the bug in my head telling me I need some Transformers game to relive some nostalgia (since there's no cool series or movie to watch in recent years) and I think I've decided it's the deck building game. So I'm looking online seeing what I need(want) to buy for my investment in the game. I like the combiners and Predaking is based but I think this is an expansion I can miss for a start. I am definately getting the DInobots expansion so I will get the best combiner already so...I can save up some money here I guess. xD It's not that I don't want to get it but... my wallet will thank me. If I end up enjoying the game a lot and actually manage to put it on the table with friends too then I will likely get it along with the Unicron expansion that's coming.
Madeira is supposedly coming this year?!? If you have info, please share it. Otherwise, there's no way Mariano's incredible fuckups are going to be fixed. It's dead. They lied to us again and again and again with their 99% done kickstarter, and then they went into hiding. And they destroyed WYG, to boot. If we see Madeira (coming from WYG) or Mariano ever again, I'll be *very* surprised. Such a waste.
I think this was a case of over-enthusiasm on Erock's part. You are probably correct that this project is dead. We'll always hold out hope though. Suffice to say that Erock will still be awaiting this game in 2025, but not "anticipating" it any more.

Diplomacy overrated?? The main problem is that is SUPER hard to gather 7 people to a 5+ hour session where players can be knocked out at any time. It is an amazing experience if you CAN get a dedicated group... but it is close to impossible to do in real life, except in a tournament at convention or something. Thus most play it online at some of the Diplomacy sites.
Protectobots who form Defensor, Technobots who form Computron. I'm not familiar with the female transformers who combine or what their team is called. Just had my first play using Clash of the Combiners as Superion/Aerialbots, did well until an ambush/adversary effect made me destroy a random card from my discards and it happened to be my Fix card so I could no longer repair damage and then Devastator piled on the damage.
Thank you for reviewing, the game is amazing! How many players can play Cascadia with this add? The biggest number of players was only 4 in the main game.
Bought this bundle when it first appeared at $30. Was totally worth that amount, even already owning a copy of the base game. For under $10, there's no reason for anyone to pass up owning a copy of this game!
I just bought Marvel Champions for a Christmas present, thinking it was Marvel Legendary. 😅 I played and loved Legendary back when it first came out, and I did not pay close enough attention when I picked up Champions at my local game shop.
