Hi Lope, really enjoyed the series. I'm starting in Viterbo on Sunday and walking to Rome. I have done sections to the Camino in Spain before but I was wondering if the Via Francigena route was easy to follow. i.e. is it sign posted well? Also are there places to stop for lunch along the daily routes?
Jamie, I used the vía Francigena app which can be downloaded from the website of vía Francigena. There were stages that bars/restaurants were not present. It’s important to bring water and snacks. It’s unlike Spain where there are bars every 3-5 km. On the VF, none, except the last stage going to Rome, and also the stage before that.
