My name is John and I'm a South-East Queensland-based solo off track adventurist. I HIKE and BIKE and get up to SHENANIGANS your parents would never approve of! Enjoy the content and thanks for stopping by! 😏
I wear the one and only, distinctly unique, and absolutely versatile Frillneck Araphat Hat, or the "Urban Turban" - it's the best head and neck sun protection clothing made in this universe for those who enjoy getting out!
Awesome, I’ve been waiting for this one. It’s my main cycle way and I’ve done a lot of riding on it. Great video, wish I’d have been on at the same time, I’d have shown you a special area at the start, it’s a great hidden location you could’ve throw in, called Pooh’s Corner. Just a little circuit😅Love the commentary bloke.
Hey buddy, ive watched a number of ya vids, why dont ya mention to council, that ya ride these bike ways, and you'll spend time in correct the problems they have with their bike ways and ya know how to correct them. And get payed for ya time doing them. Instead of riding for free. They need someone as you. Instead of government lads just thinking how and wear, to do them. 👍🤔😉
Tagalongs? As in me dragging people along with rope? 😉 Bit hard to organise as all my riding is quite spontaneous as in, I wake up, and then the wife gives me permission to ride and I'm off.... unless I sneak out of the house and the boss thinks I'm in the backyard doing yardwork!
@@jelbuilderfilms Sure, no worries mate I know what you mean, I wasn't being all that serious, it was the endorphins talking, the endorphins.🤪 Dragalong, now that would be a sport worth watching!😀
Good old 8mile run👍i lve done that track a million times but from minnippi parkland upto eight mile plains.32klms return my trip is usually .cpl different ways you can go up and back. minnippi parkland backtracks worth a look too😉
I went there last year, pretty cool little mine. That's the great thing about Mt Coot tha there's so many trails and places to explore. You uploading a full video or just the short, JB?
On yet another cold and damp rainy morning in Melbourne, I desperately need to see the blue skies of Southeast Queensland. This is my second time watching this video, and it’s my favourite. I hope you continue making these videos, as they bring comfort to my heart. Before I move to Logan (might take a few more years), your videos will be good for my mental strength. Thank you so much for what you do.❤❤❤
There is actually a footpath across the Coomera River, but it is quite a mission to get to from the V1. I think you have to follow the side road beside the police station, then duck down and along a boardwalk underneath the bridges, then turn right up to the road on the other side on the M1, and the across the Heathwood drive bridge. It sure is hard to navigate, but offers a nice, safe passage across the river if you aren't confident riding in traffic. Love your videos mate!!
Thanks heaps.... I really appreciate it! Yes, there actually is a safer way to negotiate the Coomera River from the Damian Leeding Park side as it goes underneath the bridges there. I didn't realise this until I rode back home, then discovered it. I probably should have shown this but I didn't film it. Next time... :)
Thanks, much appreciated. I actually do use my bell when absolutely necessary like when they're blocking the path.... I've found hoomans actually do crazier things when I ring my bell, as in they don't know where to go, or they'll jump to an illogical side... compared to say me simply riding straight past them. You're right though... They are unpredictable🙄 I do my best to ensure courtesy... Within reason, lol.
Mate its your commentary and sense for adventure that keeps me watching your videos you have a great back selection as well keep it coming , Greenbank watcher😳
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! I used to live in Greenbank too - great places to explore out that way, especially Spring Mountain areas and around Round Mountain, and Undullah 4x4 trails too!
The bit that bugs me the most is the Kingston train overpass; you know the 'way' follows kingston/beenleigh road for ages; then suddenly : Train - whoops, we can't possibly cross that - Quick! turn the bikeway up Jacaranda St. The only way to continue along Kingston Rd, is to cross to the east, then, go over the train-station overpass, then several backstreets and return to the road. The stupid overpass was built in what - 1976?! and Still there is no direct way for a bicycle or pedestrian to follow Kingston Rd.
100% I should have focussed on that and made mention of it.... that is like literally the stupidest thing on this crazy bikeway, to go over the train-station overpass to Mary St.... crazy stuff. And that Kingston Rd overpass is so tight and narrow, in my opinion too dangerous for cyclists - I've done it before but felt literally my life was on the line!
Excellent video. I would have liked to hear your thoughts on the intended way for bikes to cross the good train tracks on Prichard Street, rather than the goat track you (and everyone) takes. It's absolutely bananas that council intend for bikes to ride down the bike path until they get to the tracks, then cross the road in front of the tracks, ride over the tracks on the other side of the road, then cross back over the road on the other side of the tracks and get back on the bike path. The only reason no cyclists have been killed there is because no one is silly enough to use this intersection the way council have designed it.
Thanks.... yes, that Pritchard St segment is crazy for sure. I guess I'm quite loose when it comes to riding and usually find the quickest path and didn't really think about articulating the best ways to cross certain sections. As I was just trying to show the primary route and features and highlights/low points of this cycleway - and not necessarily how to ride it. The worst part of the MBC is trying to get from Scarborough to where it ends at Bribie Island.... that was nightmare stuff!
Love the snarky comments. Have you considered going from Eagleby to the gravel track next to the river and through the oaks to Beenleigh Rum Distillery?
Yes, I know exactly where you're talking about and have ridden there in the past but never filmed it back then.... and we all know how "interesting" Eagleby is. Probs time to do it again with the GoPro... 😊
I enjoy your tongue in cheek commentary. I worked with a guy who lived in Logan and his comments were very similar, but always with humour! Enjoying the bike rides as I have recently got back into cycling and always on the look out for interesting places to ride where I don’t have to compete with cars and trucks. Cheers.
Must be a Logan thing, LOL! Yes, there's definitely some sections to ride that are much better and safer than others, and that's what I hope to be showing in these vids. Maybe in the future I can do something like a Top 10 list of great cycling routes for riders... at the moment I'm trying to get to know these routes myself and then I can make a more informative video. Thanks for watching!
1 Of The reason i Watch Your Videos Is because Of Your Humor. I Also enjoy Your Adventures. I Would Love To Live In Australia, So many Cool Things To Do There. My Wife Lived There For 1 Year Back In The Day.
Ahhh yes keepin it nice and local! Only been up twice (Not enough.), the first time was on the trail that our previous mayor closed after she brought land there. 🙄 Love the nerding out with the BDARS.
Oh man where to begin, bringing back some memories from when I once lived in Springwood for a short time. You’ve sold me on the table, chair and was it coffee whitener? What a mad little setup you’ve got there! And you found the ultimate “under the bridge beer session” spot! Right on!
Nothing like "under bridges" session, lol!! Also, Aldi were selling these kinds of ultralight tables this week, I just picked one up today from there for $20 bucks... not as sturdy as mine in the video, but great value for money.
I'm surprised you didn't detour right behind Parfrey place. There are a few paths that lead over to Logan Uniting Primary school, now Calvery Christian college, I believe.
Yeah, there are a couple of paths behind Parfrey... but I guess I wanted to focus primarily on the listed bikeway for this video. There is a nice bushland pathway parallel to Exilis Drive which runs there to Calvary College... that's a nice segment.
