I went to Copenhagen two summers in a row. in the late '80s...drinking all day every day at Gammel Torv.. 'Western Blood' was the soundtrack..saw The Sandmen do an outdoor show at some park. They were fuckin amazing and I was sure they'd get really big worldwide..didn't happen but the music stands up great after 35 years!
Complete lyrics: I wish I had a little house out in the country Where we could go and spend some time alone And if you just once would be there with me I never meant to be there on my own It's way up north, it's way out in the woods Just waitin' for me like a little girl should It's way up north, it's way out in the woods Just waitin' for me like a little girl should And you'll be there to help me with my gardening Help me with my roses on the lawn And I'll be there to light the fire for you Together we will fly our flag at dawn It's way up north, it's way out in the woods Just waitin' for me like a little girl should It's way up north, it's way out in the woods Just waitin' for me like a little girl should I come and pick you up on my white charger I take you up where burns the midnight sun You know you gotta trust me when I tell you I saw you face, that really turned me on It's way up north, it's way out in the woods Just waitin' for me like a little girl should It's way up north, it's way out in the woods Just waitin' for me like a little girl should It's way up north, it's way out in the woods Just waitin' for me like a little girl should It's way up north, it's way out in the woods Just waitin' for me like a little girl should Just like a little girl should Like a little girl Oh, just waitin' for me
I absolutely love this song and the Western Blood album. I was in Denmark in 1992 and heard this album. I found the cd a few years ago on Amazon and had to have it.
You should get Allan Vegenfelt's subsequent solo album. His voice is as good as ever, and the songs are great. Funny fact: Vegenfelt cannot live off of his music, so from time to time he works as a mason! I had the great privilege of experiencing Sam Mitchell solo up close at a small blues bar in Copenhagen ("Mojo"). Great musician and a great storyteller. Sadly, he died of Tuberculosis because he could not afford the treatment.
Like a fresh manifestation of an old phenomenon A breeze whips through the trees 🌳 The rustling leaves and branches bend together They’re cued to sway Forever by the forces of the lord’s choreography Just for a second the combination of sights, sounds around him Send him hurtling back to the mirror of all of his teenager thoughts and fears He passes big houses and family cars 🚗 They saddled the horses in cobblestone yards He catches the moon looking down from the stars ✨ Just like it’s done for years and years Perpetual feeling in the grown up world that’s all around him That there’s secrets that could be revealed with knowledge and philosophy And “oh to be dumb, oh to be smart” He might be nursing a broken heart 💔 But feeling this way he’s just playing a part That’s been around for centuries I wandered all night, I wondered all night about you I’ve been here for years just wandering around the neighbourhood
I had awful abbatoir visions of the harem garage of the Soul. No one should have to bear witness this way. Let those people go. I did not ask to see what I have seen 🙏
"locked on like Tripoli".... Locked On (The Street's label) and Tripoli Trax were two record labels from Puregroove Records store in North London. Love that line.
