Starting in 1964, Trans-United is a Specialized carrier out of Burns Harbor, Indiana. Transporting legal truckloads to heavy haul and superload freight meaning we transport some of the largest freight to go down the road.

Remember, DOT inspectors don’t get into this because they care about safety, they do it because it’s a cushy state job with great benefits, a little bit of petty power, and a nice retirement
As a trucker, yes I get it some guys have a really bad truck or trailer and it’s very noticeable, but when we are empty and the truck and trailer are in good noticeably good shape, why the inspection? In those two hours at least 10 tucks in bad shape and load it drive by

Indiana is one of those states where troopers will run wild on inspections, claim all sorts of serious violations, but… they show them as warnings on the inspection so the driver has virtually no recourse. You can’t be heard in court to dispute a warning, if you challenge it on DataQ, THE FMCSA refers it back to the complaining agency, good luck getting them to reverse themselves. I’ve never met an Indiana tire biter that wasn’t an xtra large prick suffering from small man syndrome.
This guy knows how air brakes work. A air leak would slowly apply brakes for safety. Fix the roads so there vehicle safe. Worried about a air line over the condition of the roads is absolutely crazy shit.
To the many men and women who gave their lives for me to live. I can never thank them enough, so from the bottom of my heart I say thank you for your incredible bravery, your ultimate sacrifice and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. HOOAH, SSG. D. Markham disabled us army retired.
Lazy driver did not retract landing gear all the way into the up position. Didn't complete cranking the landing gear up. Indicator of a lazy driver. Red flag to inspect the rig closer.
How about highways and bridges that dont match height, almost loose your teeth or dentures on some of these severe bumps. Also , highway severe bumps that are either ignored for a extended amount of time, or poorly repaired but as long as highway department puts up bump signs, thats perfectly ok.
Guilty until you can prove your innocent. I thought we all knew this already though. Its not what you know its who you know in this world. Have family in the right places you can literally get away with anything.
The best way to avoid violations is to quit trucking and find something else to do. Why? The government has all but taken it over and turned it to $hit.
How about talking about all the foreigners that's out here with a CDL and they either can't speak English or comprehend the English language. How are they able to properly read the road signs or comprehend instructions?
They can't. They also buy their licenses not earn them. Once caught they transfer out and come back as someone new. Its easy when there is such a huge shortage of drivers to get a job with these low class companies who just need an ass in the seat.
as a ride along and future trucker what I can do protect myself when company at fault from failure to make repairs, there where I seen fellow truckers report trucks are dire need of new tires and repairs some slum owners don't wanna fix or repairs the truck for service. I literally seen truckers get there @$$es chew out by slum owners about the trucks getting fix and repaired.
You can only choose to no longer work for that company. You will be held responsible if you decide to get behind the wheel. Even if the owner refuses to fix the issues. At that point it is up to you to decide to quit or drive it anyways. You drive it then you face the consequences of your choice if caught. Thats it
Here in NYS they have some of the highest taxes in the nation, WORST ROADS and they charge you for driving on those roads and use DOT, state police to extort even more. It's criminal.
I'm now studying to get my commercial permit, then CDL within the next 2-3 months. I've been immersed in getting as much knowledge as possible, and I keep hearing about the "blind spots", and the like, and wondered why in this day and age, there aren't cameras to cover these, with views in the cab?? With all the modern technology available, that isn't that expensive (I have a lightbulb security cam at home that alerts and is decently clear, for under $20!) ... I get the forward facing to cover incidents, which is a GREAT idea for legality issues. But other camera are honestly needed for backing, and when the driver is sleeping, motion monitors that alert and even record. I heard of one trucker even having a drone that is simulcast to a screen mounted on his dash to cover all areas when backing into docks, etc. It's legal because it's so close to the rig and he only uses it for that. More of this is needed. Thank you for this! I realize it's 2 years ago, but even so, I still don't see much on adding blind spot or rear cameras, that could mount with a magnet or other so it's wireless.
Old driver. Company Owner Operator lease. Take care of your freaking truck. You can biach all you want and go ahead. You will pay the man. Play the game and always try to win right? Oh always transfer the logs. The inspector should never touch your eld. I have so many friend that give it to the inspector. No no
And now rest areas where you supposed to take a rest,DOT uses those spots to harass truck drivers and drivers can’t say nothing and eats BS because if they do something will be even worse.
38 years trukin, Sir can you speak on " driver cooperates and very respectful", yet DOT officer/State Trooper is still a jerk with a pissed off attitude?
I wonder how many of those dot’s would still have a job if they were inspecting regular vehicles like this. This also proves that inspections aren’t primarily made for safety.
